Dear Mr. Kidd, Hello, my name is DB and I just wanted to wish you good luck tonight. I know how painful it could be to play with a sprained finger, and I appreciate all the heart and courage you are showing by playing tonight. If all the other NBA players showed half the fortitude that you will be playing with tonight, this league, nay this world, will be a better place.
I'm not one to write Win-one-for-the-Gipper speeches. Let me just leave you this one thought.
Fight and you may die. Run and you will live, at least awhile. And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that, for one chance to come back here as young men, and tell our enemies that they make take our lives, but they will never take our freedom?
