I heard that too. I think it's a nice tribute to a hometown hero like Maravich was. It's interesting that franchises are starting to align themselves with the city as well as the franchise. The Hornets retiring Pete's number is roughly similar to the Ravens honoring all of those former Baltimore Colts, even though it's an entirely different franchise.
