Why bother? I just pick by uniform colors... has worked okay so far

Unofficial totals have been posted above (JJ, I do that almost every day, by editing the morning PS lineup, so keep an eye on that)

1- Looks like I went to the Plaw School of Performing Fantasy Baseball Arts! I was going to pick the Yankees until I saw the doubleheader.

2- Congrats LDV on a semi-monstrous night. You got Pork off your back for a little bit. Watch out today though- if Philly comes up big, well,...

3- 7th place BDD. Now if you only didn't start late...

4- JJ still bringing up the rear. Get all your practice in now.

These doubleheader picks are by no means a lock. I've gone with three of them so far, and got burned twice. Atlanta did OK vs. Colorado, but I lost both ends and got virtually nothing from the Pitching Staffs when I took the Mets vs. Arizona, and more recently, Montreal vs. Florida. Didn't get anything spectacular from my offense in any of them, either.

Yeah, I know - but I had a hunch. And I thought for sure you'd take the Expos! But I should consider myself lucky, I guess, since we share the same PS, it couldn't possibly go wrong :p

The first game may be delayed - it's a downpour here. Last night it was just supposed to be in the AM, but now it says continuing into the afternoon...

Know what really sucks about this game? The fact that a person HAS a life outside of baseball! :p

I tweaked my roster at noon yesterday knowing I would be out all day and all night with no access to television. At this wedding reception, I was asking some of my guy friends if they knew the score of the Dodgers game. I had 3 different people tell me that the Brewers were winning in the 8th 10-2. Now I see that was clearly conspiracy - possibly to make me drink more??

Finally, I am in an all night casino bar about 3:30 am and Sportscenter is on and I see scores and highlights flash across the screen and deduced I didnt do that bad. But then I see the double header on for today and realized I was too late to make any considerations.

I am so predictable now, you KNOW I woulda taken the DH. The ONLY thing I can hope for now is that it pretty much mirrors last week's 2 game pitching total of 3

JG - you have no life either? Think how bad I wanted to get to the bar last night, NOT because I needed a cocktail (uh -huh) but because I knew they had sports on.

Ok, so the web-enabled phone but then I would have had to race home and change my roster and come back without anyone missing me. JG - you are an evil man - giving me ideas like this

You can also get a laptop, too - hook it to the cell. Just get a bigger purse

Rain has pretty much stopped in Philly area now, and there may be another brief bout of showers in a couple hours, but hopefully that'll be it...

In work we are piloting the handheld PDA (Pocket PC devices - like a PALM) with wireless connectivity - you can make roster changes with that one and it fits in a purse - well it fits in my purse

And what is this 'rain has pretty much stopped talk' - you and wishful thinking.

Where are you located? I'm relying on looking out my window, about 50 miles East of Philly, and, looking at the satellite photo -- I'm talking unplayable rain, not a drizzle :p

P.S. I have an original iPaq Pocket PC - but I never use it (freakin' thing cost me like $550, too) -- hey, time to dust it off and see what it can do!

The iPaqs are what we are using also, and they still cost pretty much the same price. Just get a 'sled' (sleeve that fits over it) and get a wireless modem and you are set. Actually the sled and modem are pretty cheap - it is the monthly cost for the wireless access that can get pricey. Like cell phones - the phones cost little, they make their money on the service plan.

BDD - I don't wanna pollute this thread with this, but I have the "sled" and a modem already. And my web access on my phone doesn't cost me anything, it's included in my Cingular plan. I just gotta hook it all up and see if I can get it to work. (Modem with a cell phone? I'll need a special cable to connect them though)

Anywho - back to fantasy world!

I sure hope Yanks game is high-scoring, though I do want my team to win, and Clemens to get his 300th... how about 14-12 Yanks? Yeah, that'd be nice...

Quick question for all you:

Although a fielder's choice "hit" doesn't officially count as a hit in real MLB stats, does it count as a base in our game? A fielder's choice "hit" is when someone is on first and the hitter hits a grounder that gets the guy on first out at second although the hitter makes it safely to first.

EDIT: Never mind, the scoring page just told me what the answer was. It doesn't count as a base.

DS - I believe they pull the stats directly from MLB game stats - so if it not a hit in MLB I don't believe it is a hit here. However, it should add in as a run etc if he scores.

Just a guess, but I believe that is how it works.

Sunday repost for Page 29:

PL 2685 Philly (53) 90 2775
JG 2470 Philly (53) 91 2561
LD 2506 Yanks (36) 49 2555
DB 2398 Philly (53) 87 2485
UU 2352 Dodgers (17) 60 2412
OA 2229 Cubs (-1) 29 2258
BD 2168 A's (18) 63 2231
HH 2146 Yanks (36) 80 2226
SC 2105 Red Sox (-14) 17 2122
JJ 0088 Yanks (36) 60 0148

Philly kicked butt in the double-header (Sorry, Buff :p )

Interesting, only 5.5% of all players took the Phillies today (and only 1.9% took the Expos, for 21 pts)

Well I broke my string of 44s today with a nice total of 58. (36 coming from the Yanks PS)

Benito Santiago is not a very reliable catcher. His age slows him down. I wish we knew the day before if he is he playing or not, because when he does play, he lights it up.

Try 60+ ... you can't figure your "total" before all your players are finished! :p (Nice job, though - those extra innings helped!)

Re: Santiago, his player page said "The Giants may elect to give Santiago a day off on Sunday", so it shouldn't be a shock. I took the chance w/ him anyway, myself... so wasn't shocked... would've been nice had he played, I may've broken 100 pts

And freakin' Thome... 0-8?!!! Cabrera 1-8?!!

On a sadder note...weekends suck in Buffy's fantasy (baseball) world. I let a pork chop cut in front of me while I was asleep at the wheel. Time to wake up and put the pedal to the metal...
