Maybe you guys didn't understand my question, or maybe I didn't understand your answer. If I start with a payroll 0f $50 million, and one guy increases in value by $200,000, and another guy decreases by $200,000, do I have $200,000 in cap room to acquire someone else, or am I still at $50 million?

As I figure it, if one player's value increases by $200,000, you STILL get to keep him at the ORIGINAL value (in other words, you won't be penalized if the team's value goes to $50,200,000.). If a player's value decreases by $200,000, you can renegotiate his contract and get to play with an additional $200 G's (ie. picking a different player with a higher rating).

And yes, what you pay is all you pay until you trade. If you want the guy back, you pay the new price. Or if he's worth less now than before, you can get that money back. There's a "How To Play" section there, I suggest everyone reading...

As Joe Torre would say, "pitching, pitching, pitching" - that's what wins games. Suggestion: Go with the best pitcher of the day, or good pitching staff vs worse, then work from there. The pitching staff is something you'll change the most often. Or, pick a good overall pitching staff and stay with it. Marlins aren't a good pitching staff -- you want wins, not losses

P.S. The above is in "theory", obviously baseball is very unpredictable. Like tonight's game. I picked Anaheim over Texas, and have -4 points from Anaheim's pitching staff tonight

Looking at the scoring system, it appeared to me that having a good offensive lineup would be more important than pitching. So what's the strategy? Change your pitching staff every day? Does the value of the staff change radically from day to day, depending on who's starting?

Also, you say that you won't be posting your team. Does that mean we don't get to see the other team rosters? How do we know who to root against?

And another question: The scoring system says you get +3 for an inning pitched. Does that mean that you get a +24 or +27 every game automatically?

Okay, let's see... Yes, a team that pitches a winning game, with lots of strikeouts and minimal runs/walks/hits will outscore the best hitter twice over. Player/PS values change weekly, Sunday night, so you can swap all week w/o worrying about salary, but like every other "player," if you swap and want it back, it'll be at whatever the new price is. You can get away with picking and keeping a good overall pitching staff.

I won't be posting "tomorrow's" team, but BBC has always allowed you to see "today's" locked team for everyone, as well as previous days.

Yeah, that's right. But you are subtracted points for every walk, hit, run. That's how I ended up with -4 points for pitching yesterday.

It doesn't have to, if you're happy with your team and pitching staff, you can just let it go. I'd check it for injuries now and then, though. You won't maximize your points this way.

Yeah, right! I picked my roster the same as everyone else, I just did it Saturday night. I didn't even think (remember) to play until then. As soon as I did, I thought to post it here so others could jump in for Day 1. Anyway, 19 points isn't that great, trust me And since I've been doing this since 1997, I always try to beat my previous scores, so I wasn't about to not play Day 1

I'm not an expert, trust me. My strategy is as I've been telling you. The "real" top players in this game swap players every single day practically, which I don't understand because they're always paying top price and eventually your overall quality goes down that way. They just must be psychic or something.

Well, some of you passed me in points already -- but it's only Day 2 :p (Now you can see others' current rosters). And it figures, I didn't want to pay for Soriano, and he hits his first grand slam tonight! :rolleyes:

LDV - If you go into the group, and click on a person's team name, then click on Today, you can see their scores today. What you see there in the "box score" are yesterdays scores. Scores are updated overnight. However, and I'm sorry to tell you, but I don't think you have an active roster for today. Rosters are built the day before the actual games. On your main roster page, it'll show the date for which your making your picks - the next day. You'll get used to it quick, though, it's pretty straght-forward once you get the hang of it.

Ah, ok....so the deadline was midnight this morning for tonights games right? I made my roster this morning for tonights games because you can usually do that for football. That is gonna take some getting used to. Correct me if I am wrong ok? I am already behind, dont make me suffer more...
