Wow, I'm a unique individual. And I get to bump Bad Daddy and SC as class clown, too, I rock! But Buffy is gonna kick your ass on the "best legs" Doucheman. I see the rockets getting ready for blast off now!

And another thing, if everyone doesn't stop with this sappy, "I miss you guys" blubber we're gonna have to bring out the banjo and guitar and sing campfire songs.

What's that in my eye? Is someone peeling an onion?

No, I don't have a crush. Bad Daddy already said he'll kick my butt. I believe his exact words were, "He's marked. Don't go near him. Ever." :p

Ah, feel the love in this thread

So do we all miss it? Everyone but Big Daddy who was in a state of perpetual fantasy football foreplay mode the past month.

If so, then are we all gonna prick our fingers and press them together and promise to play again next year?

Or were we serious earlier when we said we werent playing next year?

Just so you know, I have been playing football about 8 years and baseball about 4 (save last year when I didnt play). I have not been asked to move out and get a place of my own yet. Guess I can push my luck one more year??

Gosh. A sign of the times, we can't even have an innocent ritual without using some kind of latex barrier.

Oh!

Wow, just ended. Oakland wins! How LOWE can you go? Dunno, Buffy - but tonight - pretty damn lowe...

Sorry, SC

No need for that. As a long time suffering Red Sox fan I'm almost resigned to this. HBO has a wonderful documentary about the "Curse of the Babe" (about the BoSox choking all the time). I felt it was telling MY story.

Before Bethie does it, I'm going to do a preemptive at myself and the Cubbies. Talk about a lack of clutch hitting and pitching. Makes me sick.

In any case, if someone told me before the series that the Cubbies would come away with a split coming out of Atlanta, I probably would have been happy.

That game was winnable though. Sucks.

Oh, before Bad Daddy jumps on it... Whine Alert.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Kind of hard to go deep when you're not playing with Wood.

Gosh, I gotta stop trying to do Wood jokes. I suck at it. I'm just glad we pulled that one off. One more game like these past 2 and I might end up in a Coronary Care Unit.

Ok, Doucheman, to show you I'm a good sport, here's a good luck poem:

Chicago is in all it's glory
Unlike before, they need not worry.
Baseball fever has hit the land
Sammy Sosa is their man.

Call it kharma, call it luck
Atlanta just thinks they suck.
Nobody could have predicted this game.
But for Cubbies fans, it's a shame.
It seems you think you can go all the way
The truth is, you scrubs can't play
Endless whining must go away.
Move over Prior, and watch your back
Even Marcus Giles is back on track.

Bethie, how in the world did you ever become a Braves fan? Is it like some form of mental illness or what?

Pork and I hate the Braves, especially Chipper. I never even wanted any of them on my roster in fantasy but had no choice sometimes. I think I used Chipper a few times too - the means that some people will use to win...

I'd like nothing more than to see the Braves choke.

(And I would root for the Cubs even if they didn't have a few of my favorite ex-Dodgers...because those guys are Scrub Cubs now...)

Considering the author of the above, I'm thankful she didn't keep it rhyming a 3rd line....

I guess that was my intitial question...I wanted to know if you were ever a Braves fan before you boored your eyes into Vinny. Isnt that a bit superficial? I mean having the hots for sports players? Next thing you know, you will be hanging pictures of him up at work, stalking ball stadiums, having dreams of him meeting you in Vegas and writing him a few hundred letters a year. That sounds a bit sick to me, dontcha think?

One can only dream, Buffy, one can only dream!! You think I sound like I'm from Georgia anyway, I think that's a good reason to go look up the peeps.

The only answer I have for being a Braves fan is I live in a non baseball town. And flicking the channels the Braves were on. They were whipping someone's ass, and this hunky Mexican came to the plate and the earth stood still, the birds stopped chirping, the hole in the ozone layer closed, it was heavenly bliss. How does that compare to having a picture up on your office wall?

Um, I would have to see a hunky Mexican first...

And my picture of Eric is not that big, about 5x5. My picture of Steve Young however is much bigger and he is not in uniform - he is out in the grass working out. The number 8 has never looked so good.

I've decided when you come out to visit next year Bethie, we will drive up to Coors Field. Find a Rockie you like before then....I'll try not to get in the way of foul balls this time though it was a great way to get on the big Sony

What's the matter Doucheman, did Ms. Chloe just give the prediction on the outcome of the playoffs?

I gotta find a Rocky, Roxy? I don't think they show the Rockies games in my neck of the woods. E-mail me some glossies and I'll give it a look.

I'd love to see the Cubs win. It would be the first in almost 100 years. Being from California, I have a choice of the other West Coast teams....but I hate the Giants. Not a Barry Bonds fan at all either. Oakland? Nah.

I like the Cubs.

Isnt it funny that you can talk to almost anyone you know and they have some sort of team affiliation (football and/or baseball). And you can associate them with their team. Some are fanatics, some are just game day fans.

Except for Pork. He says he usually follows the Tuna - but not necessarily to Dallas. Still trying to figure out who is football team is...

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Marcus Giles looks like the kid who starred in the movie "Meatballs" with Bill Murray?

We are the C.I.T's so pity us,
the kids are brats, the food is hideous..
Sorry, I don't remember the rest.

Off topic, I was watching Hollywood Squares yesterday and a show John Ritter taped before his death, (obviously, duh) was on. His question was:
What singer had an album titled, "I'll be forever blowing bubbles". His answer was, Michael Jackson.

Priceless!!!

Hmmm...Priceless/ Peerless Price..I've gotta go check on my roster. This stuff is consuming my life. How have you done it all these years Buffy?

How would I have done it without it? Life would be boring without all the games - real and fantasy - that I play.

I juggle well. Priorities. Knowing when to hold 'em and knowing when to fold 'em.

Some day I will get it all right. When I am in 1st place in every thing I'll be an old hag by then possibly but you will all hear about it

I was, once.

I grew up a couple of blocks from Ebbets Field in Brooklyn (Crown St and Bedford Ave, SC, if I never mentioned that), and could hear the fans cheering from my bedroom window.

Naturally, I hated the Yankees, and when The Dodgers moved to L.A., I rooted for the Braves, 'cause they played the Yanks in the World Series in 1957 and '58.

I still remember their whole team...

Joe Adcock & Frank (Joe's brother) Torre, 1B
Red Schoendist & Felix Mantilla (ex-original Met), 2B
Johnny Logan, SS
Eddie Mathews, 3B
Wes Covington & Andy Pafko, LF
Billy Bruton, CF
Hank Aaron, RF
Del Crandall, C

PS Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette, Bob Buhl, Joey Jay, Juan Pizarro, Don McMahon.

No particular reason for posting all this. Just want to keep the thread alive. I miss the game and talking to you guys.

Presumably, plaw wants to talk here and skip the bashing going on in the yahoo site! :p

In any case, the team I associated with was the Houston Oilers growing up in Houston. More than the Rockets, more than the Astros- I was an Oiler fan, good or bad. Those run-and-shoot teams were always fun to watch (and heartbreaking at the same time.)

When I moved to Chicago for high school, I preferred the Cubs over the Sox, although the Sox were actually good in the mid 90's. I liked the Bulls, except when they played the Rockets (and more times than not, the Rockets beat the Bulls even with Michael Jordan there). Hakeem was unstoppable back in the day.
