I watched that Marlins game and was ecstatic to see Barry Bonds get eliminated. How ironic that Pudge makes the go ahead run by running into the catcher and making him drop the ball. Then he wins the game by hanging onto the ball in the same type of play.

Yes, Geoff, your Yanks will go all the way. I don't know how the Twins made it as far as they did.

I'm glad the cops did their jobs and found the Atlanta bats. It helps when they get that Opie Robert Fick out of the game. During the off season they need to be hunting fir some hunky 1st basemen. Oooooh, I wonder if we could get Eric Karros.

I remember about a year or so ago when someone did a thread on people who like sports. There was a brunette who stated emphatically that she loved her sports, she watched ESPN sportscenter 1st thing in the morning, before she's had her Vanilla Coke. Then there was this Baltimore Crab Cake who stated she detested sports, that they're all over priced losers. Ahhh...life seemed so much simpler back then.

Speaking of Dolce's love, how 'bout that homer?

Make that "2" homers. I'll give your boy that Dolce. Vinny didn't do too shabby either.

And before Buffy starts her ranting, I think Robert Fick should be hog tied and whipped for that dirty play he did on her boy Eric. He was clearly trying to knock the ball out of his hand. I told you I can't stand him.

Well, now that game is over, bring back the Wood. Doucheman, should I just concede it now?

SC must be dancing in the streets after BoSox tied up the series. Well, maybe not in NY.

No sweat tomorrow, right, SC? Congrats, bro.

It seems every time you root for a team Geoff, they lose. Come on, bring out the old "Let's go Cubbies" chant.

What a surreal day for Oakland fans. The Bosox beat the Athletics and now Da Bears beat the Raiders. So Doucheman, your city has had it's sports team revalry for the day. Don't take it too hard when the Cubs lose tonight. That's all I'm gonna say, cause everytime I open my big mouth something bad happens. I'll just extend my hand in a friendly shake, and hope that your Wood is limp today.

The A's got screwed last night and then blow it today. If Ortiz doesn't get some serious MVP votes, then there's something wrong. I'm rootin for the Cubs to finish off the Tomahawk Chops later. It's been a good postseason, except the Twins going silent after game 1 was a bummer. Thought they would play better at the Homer Dome. I have heard stories from people that have been there and even played college baseball there, that it should not be a ballpark. Leave the Dome for football and March Madness.

Congrats, Yanks!!!! Good thing I "rooted for the Twins" Bethie!

Now, "Let's go Atlanta!" :p Hopefully this game won't look like football like last night... unless it knocks some Braves down...

"L" and I were stuck in traffic on the Belt Parkway (some moron decided he wanted to run around on the parkway, and the police completely stopped traffic) listening to the game. When the Sox scored the two runs in the 8th I started yelling at the top of my lungs, the people in the next car looking over to see what the hell was going on.

I know I'm building myself up for a big letdown (The curse of the Babe) but like Michael so aptly put it, "Just when I thought I was out of it, they pull me back in".

BTW - It took me 5 minutes to type this message....I'm having severe time delay problems in this thread.

Ahhh...don't feel sorry for me. The best team won. Congrats to Doucheman and the city of Chicago. You're gonna need the sympathy for the Yanks when the Scrubbies whip the fish and come after you.

I heard about the Cubs. Yay! A lot of people back home are happy. That would be something if they won the World Series this year.

BoSox Win!!! What, is everyone in shock and can't get off the floor to post? I'm thinking it's the year of the underdog. First the Mariners, then the Cubs, now Boston. Geoff, I think it's time to say bye, bye, bye to them Yankmes.

Everyone's dream series (at least everyone except Yankee fans) is still alive. Imagine the TV ratings on the thing- Cubbies - Red Sox World Series!

Actually, I wouldn't mind a Cubbies - Yanks World Series. When the Yanks visited here earlier in the year, the baseball atmosphere here was electric. And we won that series!

I'm rooting for a Cubbies/BoSox series. It'll make baseball exciting again. What's the fun in rooting on the same boys. It's like being married for 20 years and having the choice of sleeping with your spouse or trying a fresh new partner. I know you guys would make the correct choice, right?

Getting back to business... :p

The game last night was unbelievable. I was listening to it on the radio (I was on the road) and you could tell Pedro wasn't going to lose that game, although he hasn't been as untouchable as he's previously been.

So what do our resident Yanker fans and BoSox fan think of the upcoming series??

- NLCS, ALCS championships
- As always, Wood

Yea, Wood was great last game. He went deep into the game and was pitching really hard, but took some off when he needed to. I thought he was going to finish, but they brought in the closer instead! :p

Go Zambrano! Go Cubbies!

All we need to do is transpose an avatar of Sollozo and that could have been written by Bad Daddy. :p What to do, what to do when this is all over and no more Wood talk. Did anyone ever find out if there were Woods or Dickeys in football?

On the next Dr. Philp Show:

Women who look for Wood, Love Wood then do nothing but complain about Wood!

So what else is new?

I for one sat up last night and just loved the end of the game. Bottom of the ninth. No outs Boston leading 4-3 with runners on first and second. Lowe looked off and falls behind, then come back to strike the bum out!

During the regular season I think Boston and the Yanks just about split the games. So it should be a good matchup.

YANKS / BOSOX

Excellent. Should be fun regardless of who wins. Of course, I prefer NY -- and to keep the Bambino Curse intact! Bad enough they got into the post-season, but they shouldn't win it!

CUBS / MARLINS

Okay, the other never-win team. This one I can root for! Go Cubbies! (Shit, I mean, Go Marlins! the way I curse my picks! )

NEXT ROUND

1) BOSOX / CUBS - Would be an incredible series. Two teams who've done nothing for 100 years.

2) YANKS / CUBS - Was a tough series during the regular season, but c'mon, it's not the regular season any more. Experience would play a huge part.

3) BOSOX / MARLINS - Who cares? I'd have to root for the Marlins.

4) YANKS / MARLINS - Yanks! Damn Marlins won it all in 1997, after the Yanks got knocked out. What more do they want??

Hmmm... for some reason, the Marlins-in-the-World-Series scenarios aren't as intriguing for me!

Post-season experience is overrated.

Example No. 1 - 1997 Marlins
Example No. 2 - 2002 Angels
Counter Example No. 1 - Braves, any year

The Yanks probably disprove my point since they are able to make it to the World Series almost every year. But don't you think, just maybe, that they should have won more championship that they did win??
