You're a Niner fan, too, Irishman? Hope aboard the 49er Fan Train with me and LDV. Best team in football history! I think the Ravens are going to trade TO away for a second round draft pick, though.

How can you despise football yet like teams and watch it? Are you exaggerating about despising it? :p The Niners have some serious rebuilding to do -- but we have some other stars who can now shine with TO and Garcia out of the spotlight.

I cannot believe that this deal actually went through. Terrell Owens going to the Eagles is an absolute outrage- there's no way he should have won that case! Rules are rules, meaning that if TO's agent fails to make the deadline, Owens has got to live with the penalty and go to Baltimore like ANY other player would have. The Ravens really got Black & Deckered in the end, because they held out for 12 days while other free agents disappeared off the market.
The Eagles have a lot of expectations for next year. It looks like Donovan McNabb will finally get that threat at WR, and only time will tell if the team chemistry will work with Andy Reid's offense.

I have always spoken out in defense of T.O. - I STILL think he is an awesome player. But something stinks about this deal - bending the rules with a missed deadline, letting money talk as far as a guy getting to play with a team he wants to play with etc... All that aside, what really matters to me as a Ni9er fan is I think I would have preferred the 3rd or 4th rounder pick. Time will tell what Whiting can do for the team. I think he will be good to start and we will probably see Engelberger rotate between DE and DT. Lots of pressure for Whiting to prove himself to all the pissed off Niner fans. Haven't seen the '04 schedule yet, but I know I will be front and center for the Raven/Philly game. I'll bet Ray Lewis wants a piece of T.O!
I have a tendency to wear my heart on my sleeve - I have a history of taking off my shirt.....

Ok so let me 'splain the entire situation to all of the sore losers out there, since the details of the whole thing are all over the area here. In short there was a clause or maybe a 'loophole' in TO's contract that the 49'ers organization was not even familiar with. Not sure exactly what it was something along the lines that if they traded him it was not for the 3 years remaining on his contract the Ravens thought they were getting for but only 1 and they have to waive the final two years. Something along those lines the details are not really that important. Anyway during the hearing on Monday, this was bought to light and it became pretty evident that the ruling was going to go the way of TO. Which means the trade would have been null - could be done over again but the Ravens might not want him knowing they only get him for 1 year so they could back out - the 9'ers realizing they have him for another year (which they didn't want at this point) or if they trade it might not be for much now and the Eagles sitting, licking their preverbial chops. In short once this became obvious to all the teams - the Eagles still not wanting to take chance the ruling may go against them, initiated this trade that everyone ended up taking because in the end the Ravens may have ended up with nothing - they got a number 5 pick yet gave up nothing - the 9'ers wanted nothing more to do with Owens, they end up with a pretty good DE in Whiting and the Eagles gave up what they would have initially - so everyone is happy - at least in Phila. Now go spread the word and tell them Big Daddy sent you. :p E A G L E S - Eagles! There's room on the bandwagon if anyone wants to hop on early - I scootch over a bit to make room. :p
