So you all want the Tony Clark secret, eh?
Simple. Torre said (it was in the papers) that after the two exhibition games and yesterday's game on the hard Tokyo Dome surface, he was probably gonna give Giambi's knees a rest, and let him DH today.
Giambi DH = Clark 1B

I think last year you (and me with the official totals in the morning) put the pitching total in parens after the daily total.
Previous Total Score - Today's Total Score - (Pitching Points) - New Total Score
Wasn't it?

I checked how we did the standings last year. You had it right. My post in the morning had the oficial scores, plus that days PS for everyone, which was unavailable to you before 3:00 AM. And Torre is my pal, being from brooklyn and all.

Since this is the Gangster BB, I thought I'd consider picking a Godfather team. Here they are:
The lineup for the Corleone Cannoli's
1B - Rocco Lampone: Limited range defensively, can't run, but hits to all fields and with power. In the shadow of Gehrig he has emerged as his own Iron Man. Can execute the suicide squeeze with the best of them.
2B - Paulie Gatto: Deceptively fast and efficient. Switch hitter, which can get him in trouble when playing against a big right-hander.
3B - Al Neri: Nothing gets past him. Can hit with power when called on. Tends to get fat in the off season, but it never seems to affect him when called on for the big hit.
SS - Michael Corleone: Reminds you of "the Scooter", Phil Rizzuto. Can handle the bat well, but as the leader in the field he stands above the competition. Admired for his coolness under pressure and underestimated by his foes. Always manages the game-winning hit.
RF - Freddy Corleone: Weakest arm in the outfield and stupidest runner on the basepath. More of a utility man, but he has a talented bat and leads the league in scoring.
CF - Willie Cicci: Nicknamed "the Button" for his uncanny ability to hit one out when called on - as easy as pushing a Button. Always looks at ease and almost lethargic, but springs to action in a snap.
LF - Carlo Rizzi: Slick fielder; will run down anything when motivated. At times seems to play for the other team with his errant throws. Not much bat power, but gets around the bases quick.
C - Luca Brasi: Big target for any pitcher. Intimidates the batters as they step in the box; likes to call for the inside pitch. Bullish power at the plate. Can crush any pitch, but can get careless in a tight game.
P- Santino Corleone: Smoothest delivery in the game. Fiery competitor; loves the bean ball and not intimidated by any batter. Excellent batsman. Most homeruns of any pitcher in baseball.
Manager - Vito Corleone: Most loved and feared manager in the game. Undying loyalty from players and coaches. Rules with a gentle, iron hand. Always out maneuvers his opponents.
Bench Coach - Pete Clemenza: Veteran of many battles. Great hitter in his playing days. Now provides the players with witty advice and encouragement. Players rub his ample belly for good luck.
1st Base Coach - Sal Tessio: Relays all signals from Corleone; he was always smart. Stoic and stone-faced; opponents can never steal his signs. Rumored to be leaving after the season to manage his own team.
3rd Base Coach - Frank Pentangelli: Animated and boisterous. Holds the record for being thrown out of more games than any other coach. Once smoked a cigar while in the coaches box.
Pitching Coach - Tom Hagen: Considered one of the smartest coaches in the game. Has a wealth of knowledge on all hitters. Seems to come up short when offering advice in big games.

As you pointed out, Freddie lead the league in scoring, but did you know he also lead the league in doubles?
Moe Greene is the scout for the team. He has a great eye for talent.
Jack Woltz WAS the League Commissioner until he had a breakdown after finding out baseballs were made from horsehide.
Lucy Mancini ran the team's Food Concession for the first week of the season. She was fired after an audit revealed that too many of the top selling foot-long hot dogs were mysteriously unaccounted for.
You're right about Luca Brasi getting careless sometimes...he's been known to choke in the big game. Thanks for the laughs SC. Those were the kind of responses I thought might come forth. Ya know, like Barzini was the team photographer, but he kept ruining the film. I wonder if Lucy had a sign over her stand, "Lucy's Buns, Best Place for Your Hot Dog."

Designated Hitter: Buscetta. Usually gets good wood (coat hanger) on the old (adam's) apple, but failed in a key at bat late in the season.
Relief Pitcher: Vincent Mancini. Another player who should be replaced. Blew a key save in a very important game.
Team Chaplin: Andrew Hagen. Has good conections in the Vatican. Said to know the Pope personally.

Aw, shucks. Thanks, JG.
Actually, I was surprised to find myself there, and so high up besides.
I figured with all the tens of thousands of entries, and so few choices in the first two games, there would have been at least 50 people who maxxed out.

The key was to pick TB for the first game, and NY for the second... as you can see, most people went with Moose the first game (or in Buffy's case, the Royals )
