I'm not really rooting against you - it's more that I didn't want you to get too far ahead of the pack

DB was telling me in a long string of PMs that he was gonna kick your butt big time. He even wished that LDV and I would, also, but I thought he was getting ahead of himself so early in the season. When he started talking about a Plaw voodoo doll he had made, it scared me so I put him on my block list.

Yes. Because the likelihood of unofficial scores being accurate: about 80%. About 19% less than the likelihood that if only one of our scores is overestimated, it'd be mine!!

Thanks for the oranges, SC - I think I'll have Johnny Ola bring them to Pedro before the game... :p

You have to love those extra innings. I finally had a little more time to spend on my team and it showed yesterday. My team came thru with a nice balance. Now I hope tonight's team does me well.

I still find it early in the season to grab what I really need. Well, it will not take long before things shake out some. Lets see what happens with the first price adjustments.

Hopefully most of them will go down - they're too high as it is to start the first half!

Hopefully, the values will go up.

The lower the values, the less skill involved. Think of it this way: If all the values were really low, everyone could pick Pujols, Bonds, and a whole team of all-stars. We'd all be picking from the same group of 2 or 3 players at each position.

Higher values mean you have to know more about some of the lesser players, hence more skill (knowledge) required to do well.

The values for those having a good week will DEFINITELY go up much higher than the values of those having a bad week will go down.

Last season, a player who had a good week could see his value go up .2 or .3 points. A player not doing well would only drop .1

I agree with plawrence that the value change isn't a bad thing....it makes the game more challenging (and fun).

A-men to that. I think most games have had a high price range. I think you will see some well know names drop here in baseball. PS were all high to start as far as I'm concern.

We just have to get some statistic under our belt for this new season.

How can you call these values low. You should be able to get at least a halfway good player in each postion within the cap. No way in hell you can fill superstars in each slot I admit that there are many good players out there in each position, but with most being in the high 5's and the cheapest pitching staff starting with 5 and the better being mid to high 5's you don't have much play yet. In fact it is hard at times to see who is going to play each night. Most low price players are lucky to see the plate at times.

Sure let them price some big name supersatrs out of range, that way I can take them off my board and check out the real boys of summer.

Who said they were low?

JG was whining that they were too high.

Sorry, let me correct that statement. They started to high so if they go higher they will put many good players out of range. So if you use them you will have nothing left for your other positions.

The truth is most people want to follow the games along with this fantasy game. Hell, if the big names are out of reach and or half you team are 2nd levels players because that is all you can fit in. Then they will not play half the time or you will lose interest in following these lower based players.

The playing field has to be within reach. It should be a matter of picking ONE of twenty good players of many good teams playing in each poistion. Not keep prices going up, choking off your picks because of the salary cap.

Of course they're too high - it's not whining, it's a fact. These values are closer to their FALL values last year. Sure, there's more skill involved - and that's fine with me. But a month from now no one will be able to afford Pujols or Bonds, etc. Where's the fun in that, when the best and most exciting players in the game are out of reach?

I'm NOT saying that everyone should start so low so anyone can build an All-Star Team, cuz that is NOT fun either. But to START the FIRST HALF with values so high -- when no one knows who's going to be the good players this year -- to me is ridiculous.

And $5m for the lowest PS? And Yanks starting at $7m? These PS's are unproven in April, and values don't change fast enough to reflect that. If Yanks do well this year, will they cost $9m by the end of the First Half, so no one can use them?

Not whining - it's fact. It happened last year, too, but not as bad as this. Soriano was totally unattainable last year.

But sure, another Corey Patterson will show up soon enough...

4 points in 18 AB's ain't nuthin' to be happy about. A day like today can kill the whole season.
