It must have something to do with the thin air up top. Most who are up there seem to get REAL Cocky.

They seem to forget the most important word in this league. FANTASY. It doesn't matter if you are first or ten. It is to have fun.

The trash talk is there to add a little flavor to the day.

Now on the other hand we could all tune to sports programing twenty-four hour hours a day and the weather channel every quarter hour search the web and sports books for that one little detail that will bring us a few extra points.
but that would be waste our lives over a fantasy play.

At least if you collect stamps, coins or even beer bottles they are worth something.

Hold on, my pager just went off - DAMN it raining! and son of a bitch it looks like another of my players will not play. I have to go and tune into sportsworld and find out whats going on...see ya later!

Um, it DOES matter. I am in about my 10th year of playing various fantasy sports games (more than 10 years if you count the non-online games) and I wouldn't play if it didn't matter if I won or not. What would be the point in playing to lose???

But I hear ya. Speaking for myself, I don't ever check weather when picking players. I sometimes will consider a dome game - but don't really agonize over it. No time.

But FS let the people play/strategize/agonize the way they want to. If we all played the same, that would be a tad boring.

I happen to think that the person who is probably consistently overall better at most fantasy sports than anyone (IMO) is a young man with such a FULL plate in life, I am surprised to even see him here every day. So, proof you can have a life and have fun. But then I am biased since I truly respect him and am outwardly his biggest fan.

And for that, I give him a gift for this afternoon:

I have a tendency to wear my heart on my sleeve -

With all the rain here today, it looks like those with the Yankmees PS will be missing some points. Poor you (said in my best Livia voice). :p

If it was yesterday, zero would be gaining points on most of the group :p

We'll see. Philly was supposed to be drowning yesterday, and they got it in (to my dismay). And Yankee Stadium has the best drainage of any.

There is no handicap in fantasy baseball huh? No handicap for the East Coast games for living west of the Rio Grande?

That bites.

That's ok...I would probably always pick Kevin Brown even if it was SNOWING!

Maybe Week 3 will look better.

I know that I am no where near the level that you would like your competition to be, but please let a youngster like myself play.

After all I promise to try my best and try and not miss a night, no matter how many great weekends events I am invited to over the summer. (fingers Crossed).

By the way, how was your holiday? Good I hope.

Ahh well...

I was just gonna wish DB luck w/ the no-hitter Loaiza was working on after 2 innings; but Berroa and Sweeney just hit a couple out. But I still wish you the best of luck there, DB!

Nothing like it when your guy (Sweeney) hits a 7 point 2 run homer off the guy who's in second place pitcher for a minus 7.

A 14 point swing on one swing of the bat.

BTW, it's absolutely pouring up here. Thunderstorms and everything. How's the weather down your way, DB? :p

I love this game.
