I'm inclined to agree with FS on this one A. Rod, off to an horrendous start, only went down 0.2 last week. The only guys that seemed to go down 0.3 are those who are injured or don't play hardly at all. Plenty of guys went up 0.3, though. I think the supposition that ESPN uses is that the better players who are slumping will come back, so let's not make them too cheap, while the good players who are doing better than expected will stay at that level, so let's raise them even more. Also, there are a lot of players who are simply underestimated at the start of the season that need to get their values jacked up quickly. Probably many more of those than players whose value is overestimated. Last year, guys like Corey Patterson or Hank Blalock, just to pick two quick examples (or Zach Randolph in basketball, which I think follows the same logic), had their value go up week after week because they were way too low to start with. But I don't think it would make sense to lower A. Rod's value too quickly.

Earned runs allowed and Wins are the two most important pitching ststs in the game. Well, sure it's silly -- in the long haul. But in any particular week, not so silly. There's more to a PS than a W or ERA. A PS with a high K / low BB count can overcome a couple ERs. An inning w/o K's is +3 pts. Less with BB's. An inning w/ 3 K's and 0 BB's is +6 pts. A couple of the latter innings more than makes up for a +5 W or an ER. But of course, in general, the lower the ERA the better. I'd rather have a pitcher's duel and lose 2-1 with a lot of K's than win 2-1 with no K's -- in fact, the first scenario could result in more points overall. That's my only point. We're not really disagreeing as much as you think...

That 20 point total should have been 25. Only the Mutts could have a staff give up one earned run and still lose the game. I guess it IS relative, though. Looking at some of the other picks I suppose I should be happy with the 20.

Irish - The idea of the game is to predict who you think will do well on any given day. I hate the Mets, but I picked them (also) thinking I'd get a decent amount of points from them tonight. And, SC and I did. Perhaps not as well as Hudson is going to do -- but picking the Mutts saved a lot of $ for better offense.

Well, what do you know... voodoo dolls work! I didn't mean to jinx you guys I'll put in a good word with the Man Upstairs: maybe He'll give you a 20 inning game to make up for it

You..... . . . . . IS...... . . . . A..... . . . .. BASTID! I don't want to stay up that late for a 20 inning game!! You can make Grissom, Young or Scutaro (yeah, I know....) make 20 points like the Lowell I usually have on my roster Oh! Unless SC or FS or anyone I am trying to gain ground on have those people. Unfreakinbelievable! (PS: I just realized I have NEVER slapped a guy in my WHOLE life! You may be my first! )

Congrats Pork on your ascension into 2nd place!! Now who wants to argue that pitching doesn't matter!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't get 6th place and all I needed was a lousy 9 points to get by SC! Tomorrow is yet another day. (But also another day closer to the weekend )

Ya gotta figure Glavine will hold the opponent to a run, or two (which he did) and just hope the Mets will outscore them (which they didn't). Still, 20 points ain't too bad for a losing staff. Don't go by me....my pitching choices this year have sucked.

I heard this observation on the radio yesterday: there's not one player on the Mets who would start for the Yankees .
SC if your pitching choices suck then mine are in a vacuum. 18 pts of offense last night and my pitcher gets rained out. Boy am I having fun!!
