I hope Bonds gets over the sniffles, because I can't stand it when he takes these random days off.

Bonds is retiring soon - I don't think you should pick him anymore this year.

As an FYI - you are dangerously close to needing a Whine Alert :p

***Whine Alert***
This game sucks. Who ever is setting the values is killing this game. You lose .3 ever time you change a player.

You can't get a decent player for a good price anymore. If it keeps up like this you will not be able to field a team with 50 million!

Did I tell you how I walked to school 5 miles each way, up hill in snowstorms without shoes.

I am sick of getting less and less for my money!
Thank-you

The more things change, the more things stay the same. Below is the standings on May 5, 2003.
Code:
PL 1415 LA
LD 1394 Giants
UU 1378 Yanks
JG 1375 Cubs
DB 1342 Astros
HH 1324 Yanks
SC 1240 Yanks
OA 1112 Cubs
BD 1058 Cubs
- Last year, Plaw was in the lead with LA as his pick. This year Plaw is in the lead, playing the Marlins - opponent: LA.
- Last year, I picked the Stros. This year, I picked the Stros.
- Around this time of year last year, the big joke was waking up and playing with "Wood". This year... Classics die hard!
- Last year, Bad Daddy started 10 days late. This year, Bad Daddy started 10 days late - but only for dramatic effect.
- Last year, Crabby wasn't playing but was quick to interject about comments about her pom poms. This year... about the same! :p

Now onto the statistical analyses...

What am I ???

The proverbial exception to the rule?

Last year I held my own among the top 3 tier (and even earned an "*" for posterity!! )

This year I am in the top 3 tier allright, but going the other way!

My attempts at trying to be unpredictable and making up some ground is now biting me in the ass. I never thought twice about needing Wood. Tonight will tell...I will see how far the poo-Man can take me.

Something else I've said before...

When the values are low, anyone can pick an all-star team with guys like Pujols, Soriano, Bonds, Beltran, A Rod, etc.

What fun is that?

The higher the values, the more you have to know about some of the lesser players, hence the more skill involved.

More fun that way, I say.

And no, FS, I'm not disagreeing with you simply for the sake of disagreeing, although I will confess to having done so in the past. This subject came up a while ago in basketball and I said basically the samr thing. I might have even said the same thing here as well.

YOU HAVE! YOU HAVE...see things stay the same!

Still I am sick at watching players values go up.

It gets harder to find a good player that PLAYS at a price that you can field a team that doesn't make you feel like you are wasting you time picking them.
Hell, I am not talking about a superstar team. I am talking a team with a couple of good players and the rest that at least play and or get a few points.
Cheap players are mostly duds and you are lucky if they can be considered hit or miss at times.

We are only a few weeks in and it seems like it is getting tighter each week.

I seem to be spending more and more time with this game. What is it going to be like in the coming weeks?

Am I the only one feeling this?

I think you missed my point. Picking the cheap players that aren't duds is where the skill comes in. Sure, luck is a factor, but not as much as I suspect you think it is.

Oh, well. Good job Marlins

FS - Time spent picking a roster only? Depends a lot on how much needs to be done. Could be 15 minutes if there's a "no brainer" PS and a roster full of good players already, or, it could take an hour to find the better of the suckiest PS's and to fill a roster with new scrubs... And anything in between. :p

DB - sorry but I gots' to side with Da Jinxster on this one. Really that was kind of cold blooded not including her in your breakdown, I think you owe her an apology.

Now though I can certainly see how she was missed. I mean she is all the way down in 7th place - easy to get lost all the way down there.

BUT she is out there playing, not a sideline reporter like Crabby :p and she is out there everyday trying to move up. Well maybe not everyday - definitely Mon.-Thurs. for sure, and some Fridays - we know what happens on the weekends. I mean, how could we forget we hear it each and every week .....

And don't forget she is not in last place either. I mean she is beating TM - oh wait he quit on day 2. Well she is beating MC - you remember him, the guy that goes on vacation and doesn't even take his laptop - blasphemy according to PL. This same guy that even forgets to change his roster, well she is beating him. And she is beating IM12 - the other Rook who really is playing just for fun and picks his roster in between homework assignments.

So you see you should not exclude her - that just ain't right. I hope you learn something from this and take into accounts other peoples feelings next time.

Don't worry Buffy - I gots' your back.

Well, that's my minimum, tho there's no way you'd tell from my scores.

I remember last year I'd spend a lot of freakin' time, and it didn't matter. Once I went more on intuition rather than numbers, I did better. Perhaps I'll need to try that again. Cuz intuition told me NOT to play Clemens today. We'll see...

The shortest time maybe.

Come on Pee- if anyone spends alot of time on this it has to be you!
You spend that much time looking at the numbers alone. And I bet you log a whole lot of stuff.

I'm not counting the time I spend compiling the weekly stats. Just the time I spend on picking my team every day.

15-20 minutes. really. See above. It's what I do with the 15 minutes.

I just checked, not one of my players in five weeks has gone down in value for monday. Most player jumped .3 points each week in the upward direction!

Each player traded results in a lose of .3 points if you trade someone in their spot for one day and go back for him the next day. The player you pick for that one day has statistics that a far below the guy you had. So you lose .3 and you have a player with less potential.

Plus have you noticed how bad some of the pitching choices are at the lower price levels.

You go thru all of this in 15 mins or less? Weather, injuries, ect?

You better check your watch more often. Or drink less!

15-20 minutes. Every day. That's all.

I'm not gonna tell you how I spend that 15 minutes though.

I will say, however, that you are waaaaaaay to hung up on the salary cap.

Like I said (for the third time)....You gotta know about the "lessser lights". Then the cap becomes relatively unimportant.

If the cap was 40 instead of 50, you'd have to figure out who to pick with a lower average value.

All this whining about player's cap values tells me that after you get past the big stars, you're lost as to what to do.

sure, I know you have checked everyone team every day. You see I play many lower players who I feel are good players at low rates. You see my teams and you see I don't pick many if any high price big name stars so come on...

Trash is trash at some of these low levels. So if you pick a good player today at a good price, I may just leve him plank for one day rather the put some trash in for one day; who will not play or go 0-4 anyway. Hell, it will work out in the end of the week at times.

Like last night if my ps matched yours in number we would be a point or two difference in offense.
let see what tonight does....
