Yup. Strictly a "cap room" filler.

And this absolutely is going down to the last day. I wouldn't feel safe, and I'm sure DB wouldn't either, with less than a 40 point lead or so on Sunday morning.

And the way this is going, it doesn't look like that's gonna be the case.

Oh, to answer your question earlier, plaw...

Boston seemed like the "safe" pick today and I figured that you weren't going with the safe pick, so I thought by picking someone that you weren't picking... You know how it goes.

Freaking CoCo Crisp not giving me any points... He can stick his Crisp up his Coco...

Well, a 25 point lead is really only one day's worth like I said above. Even with only four days to go, I figured it was still too early to go "unpredictable". Besides, there is the Overall Points Title to consider.

Anyway, DB, my MWA, I'd say "let the best man win", except whichever one of us does will not, I think, have proven his superiority over the other.

We've had what? Six lead changes I think between you and I? I fully expect this to come down to whichever one of us is the last to have a good day.

It's amazing to me how closely we've competed through the second half of last year's baseball, two halves and a playoff round of basketball, and now this.

Here's to 'ya

Get a room, BDD?? No way - if there's one rule I live by, it's this: "NEVER GO AFTER YOUR FRIEND'S HONEY!"

Since you're my friend, and PL is your, you know... :p

Well there was a time he called me his honey from Phila - but that was a long time ago. Now he is a just a 'bitch'. :p

I was just in Washington for a couple of days - trying to pass a bill in a year mired in election year politics. I let Crabby know I was there, but I think she's just as afraid of me as you are (supposedly) of her! :p

You going to join in the 2nd half, BDD? As you know, it really only matters who win the two halves and not the so-called "overall" championship, so there's plenty of competition left!

Huh???? I'm your #1 fan. If I can offer to let you see me "cheer" on DA BIRDS that should prove how much I think of you. I don't let everyone see me in all my glory.

Crabby didn't visit you ? I thought she was your number 1 fan. Oh wait that is Buffy. That got PL jealous when she said that, so you know, he told me in a PM. So not sure if Buffy or Crabby is your number 1 fan - maybe a cat fight will break out. Oh and yes she does frighten me.

Hey I said the other day my team was in 4th place only a few points of FS. I was gonna come back for the last few games, give FS some competetion the last few days, but he was afraid of the competition. He's a Wuss. :p

Crabby doesn't have a car, and I don't do the Washington, D.C. walks.

I offered to jello wrestle with Buffy in New Mexico, but just like that bandleader, DB said NO. I even wore my Hooters tank top for the occassion.

I haven't a clue what you are saying.

I do know that Buffy told me in a PM that she would have jello wrestled you but that she would have kicked your a$$. Said something about no way she could lose a fight to someone who is a 'great aunt'. She was afraid she would hurt you and you would have stay an extra week at her house to recuperate. :p

Heck, if I would have known that I would have thrown myself in front of a mac truck to get another week there. "Casa La Buffy": Swimming pool; full bar and hot tub. Why didn't you let me know this BEFORE I left.

So how did I wind up with San Diego and David Wells, when the logical choice, especially considering that there's pretty much a virtual tie for the top spot, is the Big Unit?

Well, let's call it a mistake.

I did my team in the morning, when still trailing by 25 points, thinking that it was time to possibly take a chance with some unpredictability.

If figured if developments warranted it, I could always change later.

Developments warranted it. I just plain forgot.

I don't know how to feel about your "mistake":

- On the one hand, if you look at the Unit vs. Wells on paper, it should be almost obvious who you pick. (Although Schilling was "obvious" last night. )

- On the other hand, I wouldn't have minded so much if we had the same pitching staff. With the uncertainty of the pitching staff out of the question, then we just let our offenses battle it out. Although my offensive picks have been horrible lately, on an average night, offensive points don't vary as much between player to player. Therefore, if you do better than me, you can't get too far away (and vice versa)... Essentially, you live to see another day. A wild variation in pitching though might be impossible to make up.

We'll see what happens!

I do

Plaw just set himself up for a probable win-win situtation: if he wins, he wins; if he loses by less than the margin of Wells/Unit, he could say "If I didn't make that 'mistake' I would've won, so I should be the real champion!"...

Smark thinking, Plaw! Tho at the expense of the all-important Total Points Championship race!

Then again, Wells may pitch a gem and the Unit could go Little. I only picked Ariz for the price. I almost kept SD for the 3rd or 4th straight day (tho they've SUCKED FOR ME!!)

3 days to go...

Win-win situation for plaw, Pork? That means I'm kind of stuck, huh...

I know these haven't been used in a long time, so they may be a little rusty, but here goes...

I agree with DB's analysis 100% for the reason he cited. At this point, it's to the advantage of both of us to have as many of the same players as possible. Falling behind by even 20 points at this stage of the game could be too much to overcome.

If Wells flames out, or if the Unit pitches a gem, you'll hear no whining from me. I certainly expect no sympathy. Not from this room anyway, where everyone is rooting against me.

Of course, should the reverse happen, I'll be crowing like crazy and strutting like a peacock.

Never did I dream when we started 15 months ago that winning this stupid game would mean so much to me.

Don't let it get to you NBA Draft Fantasy Game Winner - they are that way simply because they are all jealous. I am not rooting against you, I am your number 1 fan.

:p Almost said that without laughing didn't I.
