Anyone's an upgrade over Roberts. The way he's playing and with him getting hurt the other night they probably won't play him both games. Again, with that being said....

btw - my Dodgers got smoked in the L-A-S-T inning last night! Of course I am speaking as a fan and not in fantasy perspective. Robin Ventura had the chance to tie it up in the 9th with 2 outs....

As far as my PS was concerned, it had nothing to do with freeing cap room. Hitter's park, an unknown quantity pitcher going for each team in one of the games, and two good hitting teams = lotsa runs today, IMO.

I can still hear the voice of Mel Allen (or maybe it was Rizzuto or Red Barber) saying "Then the Detroit Tigers come to town...Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and a doubleheader on Sunday." Thursday is usally a getaway day, so there is already a day game scheduled for which the have sold tickets. Makes it real easy to add a split twinbill night game to the schedule, rather than schedule a brand new day game, for which no tickets have been sold, on a day when a night game has been already scheduled. Weekends, I guess they figure they'll draw a decent crowd anyway, and with a disproportionate number of day games scheduled on the weekends, DHs on Friday and Saturday are impractical, since the teams prefer not to play a day game after a night game. Including today, of the 16 doubleheaders so far this season, seven have been played on a Thursday. Originally posted by Don Sicilia: I figured that Plaw... Just testing you, Buffy. Glad to see you're paying attention. If not Pokey, Boston has the two other utility INFs, Ricky Gutierez and Cesar Crespo. For some reason, I have a feeling that neither Bellhorn or Nomar is gonna play two today. I have the same feeling about Garcia now, though, with the Bosox pitching a lefty in one of the games. Baltimore's 2B, OF, DH picture seems to be a little muddled now, what with them trying to get playing time for Newhan now that Mora is back. But Newhan's a lefty also, so he may not play both, either. Javy, Tejeda, Ramirez, Damon, and probably Ortiz, Palmiero and Mora are the only guys I'd bet play both games. No one has all seven, but I have 6; JG and DB each have 5; CC has 4; LD, CB, and FS have 3; MC accidently has 1; and SC doesn't have any.

I was gonna pick Ortiz, too, but then kept seeing this: NEWS: July 21 SKINNY: Major League Baseball's disciplinarian Bob Watson is reviewing further video of Ortiz's meltdown last Friday and a decision is expected Wednesday or Thursday, the Boston Herald reports. Ortiz is expected to be suspended. Fingers are crossed... C'mon, Watson, today please!! :p (Do I have to write a letter? )

Paying attention? Naw, you give me too much credit. I just live this sport for fun much to the chagrin of the family. But I will say that I watch whatever game is televised at night (usually DBacks since we get AZ Sports Network, or Weds/Sunday night baseball on ESPN, a gaggle of Braves or Cubs game on TBS or WGN) AND I go to bed AND rise up in the morning to Sportscenter. I even got a haircut that suspiciously mirrors that hottie sportscaster Kit Hoover. No normal subliminal celebrity envy going on here! Da-da-da...Da-da-da!

I never post offense before the pitching is determined -- too much variation. I wasn't going to for us, either, but I wanted to see what kind of spread it was. I normally wouldn't.
