If I were you, I wouldn't be so ecstatic with Brad (Cerebral) Halsey and Estaban (He's a real) Loaiza going.

Would you feel the same way if you were battling for one of the top spots, though?

I did say seriously  Never having been in that position though, I guess it's a hard question for him to answer. I can honestly say that if I had nothing to play for, I'd probably feel the same way and not give a shit either. The weather is looking better here, BTW, but who knows about 3:00 pm. But it's not raining now.

Partially defense, but if there was a cheap catcher in one of the DH's I thought would do better, I might have gone with him.
Who were the choices? Fordyce, Chavez and Flaherty? Pitts, KC, and Det are too unpredictable with their whole lineups, especially since the Sept 1st call-ups.
That's why I didn't take anyone from Pitts, BTW. They have so many guys who play so many different positions, that it's impossible to predict who'll play.
It seems like every other DH this year had Pitts in it, and I got burned more than a few times.
Since I don't believe in jinxes, I will say that I think I have a big advantage over you today.
The weather here is clearing, and it's still horrible in Pittsburgh; of the players we differ on, I have four in the NY-TB DH (and the NY PS) and only one from Hstn-Pitts, while you have two from NY-TB and and two from Hstn-Pitts plus Berroa (and the Hstn PS); even if both games of both DH's are played, I think Mussina is the best of the four starting pitchers (except for Perez), so I give the Yanks PS the edge, and I think there's a better chance of a rainout in Pitts than NY; and Beltran is nicked up.

Seriously..... Of course it wouldn't. I haven't stopped playing even if I am down in the basement. If fact even last night I had the best score in the league. You already know postioning doesn't mean that much to ME. 1st 3rd, 5th or dead last doesn't matter. Then again, I do know how much this means to you. But that is you and not me. I am just saying that it has really takien a lot of the fun out of the game for ME. I don't know how the others feel about this shit run of weather with so many games screwed up. Then again I am the one who chooses not to spend the whole night looking and waiting to see what is going to happen, all hours of the night.

[/b][/quote]I'm not sure you answered the question, or maybe I just don't understand your answer I asked if you would feel the same way if you were battling for a top spot, and you said "Of course it wouldn't" From which I infer that if you were in the running, you would pay more attention to the game. But then you go on to say that "positioning doesn't mean that much to me" and that "1st, 3rd, 5th, or dead last doesn't matter". Unless you meant that it wouldn't matter what position you were in, you would still play it the same way, there seems to be a bit of a contradiction there. Feel free to clarify, if you care to. (And if you're gonna tell me that if you were in first place with me or DB 40 points behind you and 25 days to go that you wouldn't take it more seriously, I'm not gonna believe you.)

Why do you found it so hard to understand that a game like this can't take control over most peoples life. Is it because it has it claws in you. Answer me this PEE, How do you feel the nights you have a poor score? A night when others players walk all over you. Does it really hurt you? Does having MC score big one night bother you some even if he is in the basement. Did it get to you that I outscored you last night? If you were to lose and come in thrid or fourth would you have a real problem with that? Take a deep look at your answers, I am kind of worried about how wrapped up a guy like you seems in a fantasy game. Does this game mean that much into your everyday life as it seems to?

I don't know, FS....... Either you have trouble reading or trouble writing :p Or both. You said: I am not staying up all hours or getting up in the middle of the night to see what has changed. I asked: Would you feel the same way if you were battling for one of the top spots, though? You answered: Of course it wouldn't. I haven't stopped playing even if I am down in the basement Nowhere do I suggest that you've "stopped playing". Clearly, you haven't. All I'm asking is: Does "it wouldn't" mean that it wouldn't make any difference, i.e. you would play the game the same way even if you were battling for first place? Or, does it wouldn't mean that you wouldn't play the game the same way if you were battling for first? "It wouldn't" implies that it wouldn't make any difference. "I wouldn't" implies that it would. I phrased the question "Would you...?, for which I expected an answer that began in the first person. I did not phrase the question "Would it...?" But you answered as if I had, which is what is creating the confusion. You also asked: Where in the world does my statement say that I don't give a shit? Answer: When you said "screw it" And as far as this brilliant statement goes: It really must be tuff to be you and have that negative mind ALL the time. Remember you are the 55 years old who's life soley revoles around Games.... I think most would agree with me about who around here has the negative mind. Rarely, if ever, do you have anything of a positive nature to say. Rather, most of your posts seem to simply criticize others. And to say that my life revolves "solely around games"......Please. And now if you don't mind, I have to excuse myself. Somehow DB picked Berroa today and he has 19 friggin' points already.

That's not all that got stuck.....Something came up from my stomach that is now stuck in my throat.
I was in my car and heard the score, so I think to myself "Best case, Berroa didn't play." Next best case "He played but didn't do much".
So I get to my computer and find that not only did he play, HE SCORED MORE FRIGGIN POINTS THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE FRIGGIN GAME!!!!
My compliments, DB.....Reminds me of the 19 I got from Delucci on the Thursday before the first half ended that started me on my comeback.
History better not be repeating itself here......

Originally posted by fathersson: Sorry Pee. Let me try and make this real clear.
I would NOT let this game take control of the way I live no matter what position I was in. Even if I was in first place for many weeks would I let a Fantasy game run my life.
A game would NOT have me getting up in the middle of the night checking on things to see if things had changed since I went to bed. (Even if I were in first place.)
I would not leave a nice time out with friends and / or family because I have to go do a Fantasy team.
If I found myself worrying about the game more then real things in my life I would start to wonder if I need some help. I would not cry if I missed a double header. I may joke about it, but if I found myself feeling bad about it, I think it would show me that I have a problem.
Pee, if you have seen your mood really change over this game, you know not just once but often. If this game sets or changes your mood on daily basis, if you think about this game while you are doing other things away from it. Then I would start to worry if I were you.
Fantasy withdrwal? Thank you for the clarification. Now allow me to make a few things clear: --This game, in no way, shape, or form, runs my life. I'm sure I devote more or less the same amount of time to it as the other two players here (JG & DB) who take it as seriously as I do. --Let's not put the cart before the horse. I usually wake up in the middle of the night anyway. Some nights I don't. I'm not setting an alarm clock or anything. But as long as I'm up anyway, I check my fantasy team, check my e-mails, check the BB here, smoke a cigarette, have a drink, and take care of the reason why I woke up in the middle of the night in the first place. --I do not worry about this game more than I worry about things in real life. As a matter of fact, I consider this game to be a healthy escape from the things that I worry about in real life. --Why shouldn't I feel badly if I miss a doubleheader? You're a poker player. You play to win, don't you? I'm sure you feel badly when in a seven card stud game you start off with wired trips and someone beats you by catching an inside straight on the last card and you don't fill up. Or even in a game which you don't play for money, you certainly must feel badly when you make a mistake. Or maybe you're just not competitive. Nothing wrong with that. But I am competitive, and there's nothing wrong with that, either. --I have never left a "nice time" with friends and/or family because I had to pick my fantasy team. You have 24 hours to pick a team each day, and I plan accordingly. --This game does not "change or set" my mood, and I rarely think about it unless I'm picking my team or talking about it here. And I still don't believe that you would play it the same way if you had a shot to win. I believe that you wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night for it, but I do think you would take it more seriously.
