Man, I've been the scrub lately.

I hate this game. Actually, I hate all games. I'm not playing anything next year.

I hate all games too, DB. You can sit on the sidelines and cheer with me next season.

As far as not being stiff enough, I'm trying to figure out how that applies to me.

Can I ask a stupid question if everyone doesn't mind. I see that a walk counts as 1 and total bases count as 1, does that mean if they are walked they get 2 points 1 for the walk and 1 for first base or is that combined into 1 point? Same thing with stolen bases...thank you

One point for a walk or a single.
Two points for a double, etc.

Each stolen base is an additional point.

How ironic. I play the double header. The entire Pittsburgh team. They beat the Mets 6-1 and 1-0. I get 62 points from the pitching staff; 91 pts total, tied for first with JG (what a genius he must be), and then due to parties and other stuff, don't change my team for Monday and the Pirates ain't playing.

A 24 hour party? "Other stuff" ?

I'm afraid you don't have what it takes to be a serious fantasy player.

That was a compliment, BTW.

I don't understand, walks count as 1 but hit by pitch counts as nothing?

I asked that question earlier. Even if you're intentionally walked it counts as one. It makes no sense.

Right, HBP doesn't count, probably cuz the batter didn't "earn" it. But if he scores a run, that will count. The pitcher should be penalized for hit batters, but they're not in this game.

As for intentional BB's, it can be argued that the batter often "earns" it because he's a good hitter and the pitcher wants to take a pass -- but at the same time, batters are often intentionally walked to set up a double-play. I don't think the batter necessarily "earns" that, but, he gets the point for the BB.

Whatever the scoring rules, we all live by them equally. So, it really doesn't matter... I think they just needed to simplify it for the game.

If it was MY game, I'd have tons of more scoring opportunities -- and more opportunities for players to LOSE points. GIDP? -2! Cause an error? -2 for each unearned run allowed! But, Plaw will bring up his treatise on how the offensive points and defensive points should equal out. Fine. But player values sure wouldn't go up so high if they were penalized more often for dumb shit they do

The general scoring is explained on the How To Play page...

He doesn't "earn it" if he's intentionally walked either.

LOL thats why I said So Far lol.........I play a total of about 50 teams on sportingnews.com between football, baseball, college football and golf. Those are a little bit easier to understand and that game penalizes you for everything, like if a guy spits sunflower seeds in the dugout its -1. So its hard to figure out this scoring system.....I'll get it down somehow lol

Welcome to the game, DonMichaelCorleone.

Hope you prove to be a competitive player, as DB and I both feel that the competition around here is pretty weak.

You're off to a bad start though, missing a doubleheader on your first day.

Good luck, have fun, post any questions, and start getting ready for basketball.

Thanks Plaw, I won't be competitive probably til the last week of the season. I'm not used to having unlimited trades (I'm used to picking who will be best over a stretch of time rather than just that next game so it will take me a few days to get used to)
Basketball is more of my sport though so I will definitly be competitive for that one all season.

Then I'm surprised you ask so many questions, when all can be answered by either reading the rules, or watching and learning quietly... :p

Perhaps we have some new competition here. And with all the newbie questions, he could be a shark -- ready to take over First Place in all sports!! Be careful, Plaw!!

It's good to have competition though, most of the leagues I'm in the people play for like the first 2 weeks and then they stop.

DMC - I welcome the competition (even tho I got "chicks" nipping at my heels and always end up in 3rd place). Perhaps you can add some life into the #1 Plaw, #2 DB, #3 JG routine. So, welcome! And don't mind busting-of-balls...

I'll do my best

I'm a ball breaker as well, just didnt want to say anything until I was more established here as not to step on anyones toes.

I stink at football (but I do it anyway lol) but I look forward to Basketball.
