Sorry for this brief interruption as I make an off-topic comment about, um... baseball. So, I guess we'll find out what Johnson would've done yesterday, today. I was tempted to take him again, but, I kinda liked El Duque's odds better (Nice jinx, huh?). I see no one else wanted to chance Johnson tonight, either? Oh, that's right... the whole @Col thing. I'm still curious to see if my zero last night was worth it... Okay, peeps, as you were. :p

As a matter of fact when Pops posted his pic we all commented how much he resembled Bonasera. Speaking of which, when are you gonna post your pic? Is that Geoff with a 'tude? Jeez porkchop. You get a -30 something and a 0 PS al,l in the same week and you're still clobbering me. I should be the one with the 'tude. :p

Well, DB, my Most Worthy Adversary.... If I get through today realtively unscathed, I'm gonna finally start to feel a little bit confident. But I figure today is one of the key days of the season. I did my team in a bit of a rush yesterday, figuring "Doubleheader, WTF....Helton, Miles, Clayton, Castilla, Burnitz....Didn't have to spend time looking at Hitter-Pitcher matchups and who hits well at what park (I mean, everyone hits well at Coors, right?). But in my haste, I didn't bother to click on each player like I usually do to check his injury status or whatever, and I failed to notice that Holliday (the Wuss) has a boo-boo on his elbow and won't play, so you have a big edge there with Bonds. There's also the potential for a huge swing with the pitching match-up. I figure Colorado can go anywhere from minus 30 or so to plus 40, and Florida from maybe a minus 10 to plus 30. Theoretically that can happen on any given day, but it certainly is less likely on some days rather than others. Look at Zambrano vs. Perez last night. Wasn't much chance for a 40 or 50 point difference in their scores. And it doesn't figure to happen on one of those nights when everyone picks a different pitcher from among Sheets, Santana, Schilling, Schmidt, etc. But today.....anything can happen. I'm really surprised that you took Colorado, though. I figured that their upside potential of 40-45 was only 10 or 15 points better than the upside potential any of the other viable PS choices today, whilst their downside potential had maybe a 30 point difference. I know you may be thinking that it's time to start being a little riskier, but I don't know that I would have chosen the Colorado PS to take a risk on, even in a doubleheader.

Ichiro is on the most unbelievable batting average run I've ever seen in 45 years of watching baseball. I just checked his game log....... On June 29th he was batting .314 Since then, he's gone 144-332, a batting average of .434....that's roughly half a season That includes Sept 10th thru 19th, when he was slightly injured and only went 7-39. Subtract that little slump, and he's hit .468 since June 29th. I remember Carew's run at .400, and I remember Brett's, but I've never seen a sustained streak like this.

This really shows how difficult it is to hit .400
Imagine, a guy hits .434 for half a season, and he still has to hit .366 for the other half to do it.

That's okay... I'll take the 62 points for my PS. Plaw must be kicking himself. His PS is -2 after 6 innings... Truthfully, I'm VERY shocked myself! And it brought CC passed 100 pts for the day.
