You can - I just signed in and apparently had an account w/ them already. I'm checking it out now...

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I'm gonna try this game...
I created a league:

Gangster BB
corleone

Let's see what happens...

I just wish I had known about this sooner and you had unlimited trades before today, and don't wanna get short setting my lineup!

Well, I'm in, but

a) I can't find an explanation of the scoring system

and

b) This appears to be a SIAFI game, unless we pay for trades. So if we're gonna compete in a league, we have to have a rule about how many trades are allowed, or just pick a team now and SIAFI.

Doesn't look like much fun to me

plawrence i'm running late for school but I'll give a quick rundown

Batting:
(- is a minus)
-2 for an out or fielder's choice
an extra -1 for a strike out
5 points for single, 10 for double, 15 for triple
20 for home run
5 for every run scored and each rbi
walks and hbp are 3
edit: stolen bases are 10
caught stealing are -5

Pitching

15 points per inning pitched (5 per out)
-5 for each hit (whether its single or double etc)
-10 for each earned run
-3 for each walk or hbp
3 for each strikeout
30 for a win and a save
-15 for a loss

Complicated. Especially w/ the ridicuosly low salary cap and ridiculously high salaries. Wow.

I think you can make 2 trades/week -- sure isn't a lot considering a whole team can be eliminated in that time. Doh!

I'm gonna consider this practice for next year, cuz starting so late -- and missing StL/LA -- really limits the research... but WTF, let's see what happens...

I haven't looked at the "league settings" -- if there even are any -- yet...

As of right now, the game seems to still allow unlimited trades. It seems to be behind as it's also listing players for eliminated teams. While we probably won't get points for today's games, at least we can try to build some type of lineup. But still can't grab any StL/LA players - maybe tomorrow? Grab the aspirin!

Okay, my roster is set. After today looks like two roster moves per week?

DMC - Please clarify something, if you know. If I have a player eligible for more than one position (e.g., 1B/3B and 2B/SS) and I have him down for 1B/3B but he plays 2B/SS, do I still get points or no?

SC's in, too - cool! C'mon, Douche and anyone else!

Those rules are for the regular season. From what I understand, they are the same rules as the post season EXCEPT player values don't change. You can read the post season rules by clicking on the "?" icon and choosing "Game Rules"...

I can't determine if the regular season rules apply to this post-season. How can they expect to make only WEEKLY changes in a short series?

I just hope we didn't use up this weeks 2 free trades already (I did more than 2 as it allowed me to, so I'm not sure).

The regular season game only allowed $30m salary cap as opposed to $35m, which I thought was low already! You can EASILY spend $10m on ONE PLAYER!!

Well, the ONLY thing that's fair about this game is we're all in the same boat, and live with the same rules. It'll take a long-haul strategy as opposed to the daily strategy we're used to. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

You really crack me up, Plaw! But I just think DB's a chicken -- afraid of getting shellacked again! :p There's no reason for DB to lay low in the post season!

I guess the yolk is on me.

Yes, I actually do have a reason to stay out of the postseason. I am fully into football mode. Unlike you guys who have the Yanks and Sox to follow (even Buffy has the Dodgers to follow), my interest in baseball dropped as soon as the Cubs choked out.

I don't think I'll even watch any games - unless the Yanks/Sox go to a Game 7 or something.

That's better.

But -- you missed the first DAY, just like the rest of us. As long as you have an 8-man roster set today, for tomorrow, we're in the same boat.

I don't believe so -- but then again, I've never played this game before. Rosters were "supposed to" lock at noon Eastern, so none of us should have anyone playing for TODAY. We can discount any points earned today in case that's not the case.

So we have until the start of the first game tomorrow to set our rosters for tomorrow?

Sorry for all the questions. I've been busy working on real work That, plus the egg yolk problem.

I haven't even read the rules yet.

And get DB in here. The nerve of him, concentrating on football.

He better watch it, or he'll be Wuss II

Man, I gotta repeat myself? :p Stop "working" and get to business here!

This is "almost" a set-it-and-forget-it game. You can make 2 roster moves per week (unless you pay for more). It's NOT a daily game with daily picks (hear that, DoucheBag?? :p ). You're looking to pick long-haul, not day-to-day matchups.

Despite what the trade rule states below, I was able to make more than 2 trades today. I don't know for how long that will remain true.

Quote:

Roster Freeze

At 12pm ET every day during the playoffs, whichever 8 players are on your roster at that time are the 8 players that will officially play for you for that day's games. You must have exactly 8 players on your roster at that time; otherwise you will not get credit for any of their play that day. If your team is missing even 1 player, your entire team will not score.

How do I draft my team?

To assemble your winning team, click on "buy and sell players". You can research which players you wish to buy by using our tools to sort by a variety of statistics. When you find a player you want to acquire, click on the position at which you want to buy him. A player who is eligible at more than one position can fill only one spot on your roster at a time.

Before the first Roster Freeze of the season (Tuesday, October 5 at 12pm ET), you can make as many changes to your team roster as you want. After that, any time you sell a player, it counts as one trade. You'll start the season with 2 free trades in your account, and each week on Tuesdays you'll get 2 more.

If you're putting together your team AFTER the first Roster Freeze of the season, be careful to buy your 8 initial players without performing any sells, otherwise you will be using up your allotted trades.

How much money do I start out with?

You start with 35,000,000 TSND to spend on your 8 players. Your total team value can never go above 35,000,000 during the season.

How often can I change my roster?

Before the first Roster Freeze of the season (Tuesday, October 5 at 12pm ET), you can make as many changes to your team roster as you want. After that, any time you sell a player, it counts as one trade. You'll start the season with 2 free trades in your account, and each week on Tuesdays you'll get 2 more.
The complete Rules can be found by clicking on the "?" and choosing Game Rules from the menu.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Stoopid fockinga game. I can't figure out if my team scored any points today....I had some picks from the BoSox (and they just won), but when I click on my team (for tomorrow) there's nobody there.
