As you readers of the Sports Forum know, a few of us have been playing a Fantasy Basketball Game throughout the regular season.

A new game for the post season is about to start, probably tomorrow when the playoff schedule is announced.

It's a game that you have to be involved in every day for the length of the playoffs, so we're talking about approximately two months.

Every day you pick a roster (point guard, shooting guard, power forward, small forward, center, and coach) from among those players and coaches who are playing on that particular day.

You get fantasy points for points scored, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, and lose points for missed field goal attempts, missed free throws, and turnovers.

Every player is assigned a salary cap value, and the total value for your team can't go over 100. Since the best players all have values much greater than 20, you can't just pick only the best players. Like if you take Garnett & Duncan, for example, you're going to wind up weaker at the other positions.

Anyway, if you're interested in playing, watch this thread tomorrow. As soon the playoff schedule is announced the game will open and I'll post the link and instructions on how to join.

The format is exactly the same as the baseball game, but it's sponsored by the NBA.

I sleep. Usually from about 11 or 12 or 1 until 5 or 6 or so, but sometimes less.

That's not bad, that's usually when I sleep too. It's just when I wake up in the morning I see that you've already posted during the night & it just seems that you never get any sleep.

The postseason is another segment of the VGM game we've been playing...

Tho, of course, new people can join NOW and be in for the entire postseason segment.

I don't think it is, cuz it asked me to log-in with my "NBA.com Member Name", and my ESPN info didn't work.

If I were to play Pick 'n Roll, I'd have to register on NBA.com

VGM is a totally separate game.

Remember....You are picking a team for Saturday's games. If no opponent is listed next to a player's name, that means that player is not playing that day.

Be sure to pick only players who are playing on the day for which you are selecting a team, otherwise you get no points for that player.

The deadline for picking your team is 3:00 AM Eastern time on the day of the game.

Don't forget: Review your roster every day, and make whatever changes are necessary to be sure that you have a team of players that are all playing that day.

yeah you're right. I joined this pick'n'roll game and it was already logged in so I didn't even think if it was my espn.com or nba.com account and went out saying it was the same

FROM THE DESK OF THE COMMISSIONER....

Here we are with the start of the first game less than 8 hours away, and the site is still all fucked up

As you can see, they are showing the players from whom we picked today's rosters as playing Monday, April 19th. I fugured they just had the dates wrong, and the rosters would lock at 3:00 AM this morning and show Sunday's roster choices for Tuesday April 20th.

However, although it is past 3:00 AM Eastern, seemingly you can still change your roster for today -- assuming that the players we pick even count for today.

Also, it raises the question of when you can pick your team for tomorrow

Here's what I say (in the event they don't have this thing fixed by 2:00 PM):

We have two choices. We can either

a) Go along with however the thing gets straightened out by site. Which, of course, I don't like. or

b) Go by our transaction logs like we did for February 29th.

If we go with "b", then this is what I think:

Any roster changes made after 2:00 PM Eastern today will be assumed to be changes you are making for Sunday.

Any player who does not have an opponent listed next to his name is playing Sunday.

This is really much simpler than it sounds. Assuming everything does not get fixed, the key thing to remember is Do not pick your team for Sunday until after 2:00 PM Eastern time today. Then, only pick from players with no opponent listed next to them.

Then get ready with those transaction logs

I'd say we could all post our teams for today before 2:00 PM, but what happens if someone doesn't read this before then?

Maybe they're at work fixing the problem. I see that they are now listing the players for tomorrow with tomorrow's opponents, so disregard what I said above about picking your team for tomorrow by picking players with no opponent listed next to them.
