I'm surprised if this was truly a conscious decision on the part of Augie Garrido. He coached a few years at the University of Illinois and he was ALWAYS a gracious winner and a gracious loser...though like any coach he did not take losing lightly.

But, funny things happen in the heat of the moment, and some decisions (regardless of the circumstances) that seem inconsequential at the time, can take on a life of their own.

Can you name a former University of Illinois baseball player that later served as a union official in Chicago and married the daughter of a Chicago Don? This should go in the "Name that Gangster" thread!
