I can see that Plaw is 2 posts away from 6-0-0-0.

May I suggest the following for the momentous post:

1 -

3 - Another story about Flopsie and Mopsie

4 - Defending someone's right to stick a toe in their...

5 - An excerpt from your book: "Desperate Housewives: Getting Your Man Away From Fantasy Sports"

Didn't plaw just have a congrats thread for hitting 5000? Gosh, how many pee breaks do you take?

Yeah, about ten weeks ago, and I am a bit embarrassed to have hit 6000 so quickly

Between fantasy sports and defending our civil liberties, though.....

I liked DBs ideas (nos. 2, 3, & 4) for a 6000th, but it wound up being posting today's scores in the basketball thread.

Trade Update

Iceman gets Marshall Faulk and Jimmy Smith. DB gets Randy Moss.

OK, here's the deal. I've been negotiating with Iceman for a while and we came to agreement yesterday. However, being out all last night, I didn't see his PM (which he sent before the deadline) accepting my PM offer, so to make a long story short, the deal wasn't accepted on the Yahoo site.

I'm asking for your opinion on a couple of things:

1 - If you agree with the deal
2 - Shortening the trade process so that IM gets to use Faulk and Smith this week

I'll stand by the league's decision.

I sent this same message as PM. I've temporarily allowed the trade to be processed on the Yahoo site so people can vote against it there, if they'd prefer and in case anyone checks there first.

I aren't bothered about the deal, let it go through.

But shortening the trade process is a little unfair. I've actually turned down trades this season just because I couldn't immediately use them by the next game. All those details are included in the trade proposal.

But hey I'm gonna look a stingy Scott if I appeal this because I've got Iceman tomorrow. I can't win.

Interesting deal....

Iceman trades for immediate help, hoping to just get into the playoffs.

You, figuring you're in already, sacrifice points for a week or two to have help once you get there.

As long as the deal was accepted prior to the deadline, even if it wasn't through Yahoo, it's OK with me.

After all, we can't let our personal lives revolve around fantasy sports (Like I should talk).

As far as using the players this week goes, though.....

We've all had to live with that rule in making trades. When I was talking trade to JJ earlier this week, I kept reminding him about the 48 hour waiting period.

If you were negotiating for a while, Iceman should have known that he had to accept the deal by 1:00 PM Friday to use the players on Sunday.

So if he did, then fine. But if he didn't accept the trade until 10 PM last night, let's say, then I don't know......

Unfortunately, the deal was accepted by Iceman after the noon deadline yesterday. Yes, we are walking on a slippery slope here with shortening the process time.

It's really up to Iceman. Iceman, do you want me to cancel the trade if you can't use the players this week?

No Don Sicilia even if I'm unable to use the players this week. I still want the trade to go through as planned.

In response to this, I got called into work early on Friday, and didn't get the pm until I got home.

I'd like to urge the other players in the league, to accept the possibility of me using the players this week.

If not then oh well.

REAL Fantasy Sports players know when to say "no"! They know when to call in late cuz they've been up late checking for injuries, and they know when to call out if they need to do a live draft. They know when trades have to be in for the current week, and they know when to get online at work to do whatever it takes. Hell, they even know when so-and-so's neighbor's aunt is going into labor!

But all that said, I have no problem with whatever the Iceman and Douche decide. I don't play IM again until Week 13, and what's a little Faulk'n Smith to get in my way? :p

Final Decision

I'll let the Moss/Smith-Faulk trade process through the normal Yahoo procedures and in all likelihood, IM probably can't use Faulk and Smith this week (unless by some miracle it's approved and processed by the noon game today).

Enough players (4+ - the number required to overturn a trade) have spoken up through PM (and not just those battling for playoff positions with you) mentioning that our rules have been in place since before Week 1 and we've all been making transaction decisions around those rules since Week 1. It would be out of character for us to change it now. I feel bad for IM, but looking at it objectively, it's the correct decision.

In any case, Iceman can cancel the trade now if he wants. His decision either way is fine with me.

I'm a long way from home on the world's tiniest laptop (ah, the technology!) so I just now got the Iceman/Doucheman memo.

Can I just say as a "Loser", I don't care how it goes???

As far as losing to the Thug - I had Favre and Driver in my other league - the one I AM playoff bound - so talk about being happy in one, sad in another.

Hopefully I find time this week to set my roster for Thanksgiving.

Ciao Peeps - I am New Orleans bound.......

No TU doesn't need to worry, neither does anyone else who remains on my schedule. I never sold my soul.

Course that's because Satan grabbed my soul when I was born. He knew he'd be getting it anyway, so he decided why wait?

WTF? I get an email this morning telling me the trade with Plaw was void and didn't go through because Smith is not on my roster and Givens isn't on his...so I don't get any points for Givens or anything. Grr.

Oh well, it's not like I was going to win anyways, but WTF?!?!

DJ and Plaw - the trade didn't technically go through (in Yahoo's mind) because I manually put Givens and Smith on your respective rosters. Even as I did this, Yahoo still went through all of its processing time (which was way longer than 24 hours) and when the computer decided that the trade should be processed, it found that you guys no longer had those players on your roster because guess what - I already made the switch. Since you guys were trying to trade players no longer on your roster (because of my manual switching), it voided the trade. Due to the manual switch however, the trade was still processed correctly.

I hope that made sense.

In any case, Plaw DID get credit for his 1 point from Smith. You didn't get a score from Givens because he sucked last night and only had 1 reception for 3 yards.

Week 12 marks the week where we circle all the way back to our first opponent. As an update to the strength-of-schedule that Plaw did earlier (and may only interest us two anyway), here is the strength of schedule for our respective "repeat" opponents:

Player (Remaining Opponents) (Record)
DB - (PL, RB, TU) (18-15)
BD - (RB, TU, PP) (17-16)
RB - (BD, DB, PL) (20-13)
FC - (TU, PP, JG) (13-20)
TU - (FC, BD, DB) (21-12)
IM - (PP, JG, DJ) (11-22)
PL - (DB, SP, RB) (20-13)
SP - (DJ, PL, LD) (14-19)
LD - (JG, DJ, SP) (12-21)
DJ - (SP, LD, IM) (16-17)
PP - (IM, FC, BD) (19-14)
JG - (LD, IM, FC) (17-16)

Looks like FC has a good shot of staying in the top 4 and IM could sneak in with the easiest strength of schedule in our whole group. Turi gets the short end of the stick with the toughest schedule.

The Slippery Slope
Mine is no picnic, either

For about the fifth time this season, I just may have to rant about how the luck of the schedule is the deciding factor in this game, and while it's fun to go head-to-head, the only truly objective way of measuring our individual performance is by points scored.

That measures our skill in drafting, selecting who to play and who to bench each week, trading, and waiver/free agent moves.

I have a little free time today....

I bet I could construct a schedule that, had we been following it from week 1 instead of the one we used, could turn the standings almost upside down.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol
