My football coach wrote an email to the Penn State football office for me today. I told him that I'd like to be a ball boy or something next year. I think it'd be cool to be on the sidelines during the games.

What does it take to get into field goal range? Do you have to gain a certain amount of yardage from your initial possession?

Beth all "fieldgoal range" means is that they are close enough to the goal line that their kicker can make a fieldgoal. "Usually" around the 30.

So say a team has a good punt return and they get good yardage. But they only make say 2 first downs, but they're on the 40 yard line and they think that's in their kicker's range then they can go for it?

yeah, they can kick a fieldgoal whenever they want. All fieldgoal range is is what is probable for the kicker to make.

If you ever see a game tied with about a minute to go the first thing they say is they need to get in fieldgoal range. now for Team A that has a great kicker that might be the 35 yard line. For Team B that has a weak kicker that might be the 25 yard line. But they can try a fieldgoal whenever they want.

Ok, that makes sense. In that regards I don't see why people say the kicker isn't that important. Having a great kicker can make all the difference in close games.

Kickers are very important. It's just kickers like Vanderjact (Colts) aren't well liked becuase they run their mouth off and they play a position WITH NO CONTACT.

Kickers should be seen and not heard

I guess that's the one good thing The Ravens have. Our offense is horrible, but you can always count on Matt Stover. But then again, you have to be able to get him into field goal range.

What were we saying about kickers being important!

These overtime games are killing me.

You gotta feel bad for the Jets kicker right now. He had 2 chances to win the game and missed it. If they lose this game he's not going to be mr popularity in the locker room lol

Yes last nights game was a tense one, I wish we lost, I don't want to go through that again with either the Colts (who look unstoppable) or the Pats.

To be fair to Doug Brian, Heinz Field isn't the easiest of places to come to when it comes to field goals. Especially the scoreboard end, it's very open and so that favours us. That's the whole point of homefield advantage.

I got another pin yesterday at 145 lb. This one took me 5 minutes and 47 seconds . I've been on a hot streak lately, but that will end this week. This week we have matches against two great teams. I'm going to be trying just not to get pinned myself. On Wednesday, we go against the #5 ranked team in the state. Then on Saturday, we face the #16 ranked team in the country (they are #2 in the state). Both of these teams are in the same league as us.

My team is actually pretty decent. There are 10 teams in our league, and we are the third best, behind those two juggernauts. Our basketball team is really good, they are in 1st in the league. But we suck in football. We finished ninth.

Well, as expected, I lost on Wednesday. But I did manage to keep it respectable (7-3). As for the team score, we got killed, 58-15, but hey, they're ranked #5 in the state. My individual record is now 13-6.

Tomorrow we face the #16 team in the country, which might be postponed because of the snow.

(If no cares about my wrestling, I'll stop posting about it, so someone respond to let me know that I should still give updates)

Keep it up Freddie, I'm listening and I think a few others are too.

So that 7-3 score, you wrestle 10 times the winner is the one with the most pins?

Nah, Turi's just trying to ruin his image by acting like a nice guy. I doubt if he's really interested.

Anyway, who's gonna read this stuff here?

This is Fantasy Football. Why don't you start a separate thread? Then everyone can insult you instead of just me. :p

And Turi, if I'm not mistaken I believe that in amateur wrestling they get points for applying various holds, etc., during the match. If a 7-3 score indicated 7 "pins" to 3, these poor guys might be wrestling for hours.

I've always been a nice guy

That point system makes a lot more sense actually.
