Although ARod is immensely hot, there's something about Jeter that just gets me. Maybe because he's always been a Yankee. And he's got a great butt. Btw, I'm so mad that I missed his grand slam yesterday!!

Gina, I love the original Blues Brothers. It's such a funny movie, and the music is wonderful. I mean, Ray Charles, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, and the band, of course! My first car was a 1973 Dodge Coronet, which was the same car as the Plymouth that was the Blues-Mobile in the movie. Even my cigarette lighter didn't work.

Good to hear you like Blues Brothers, too! I always feel like my family members are the only ones who have seen it, because none of my friends have ever even heard of it! That is so cool about your car. I went on a Band trip to LA last year, and at one of the theme park places we went to (trying to remember...I think Universal Studios), they had the Bluesmobile displayed! I don't know if it was involved in any way with the movie or just the same car made to look like it, but it was really cool. I took two pictures of it...maybe some time I could scan them and post 'em here. My dad even painted a mural of Jake and Elwood on our garage wall, and my 2 year old cousin can now say "Blues Brothers" due to this and watching the movie. We still say "rollers" when we see a cop car on the street. My God, it's just the coolest movie! Have you seen 2000? It really doesn't even come close to the original in comparison, but it's a pretty good movie just by itself. They re-do a lot of the parts in the original, but I think it's better they did that than completely new things. My mom said it well today when she was explaining to my grandpa that John Belushi wasn't in this one because he passed away and they had to make it without him; she said they needed three people to replace him (because Elwood has Buster, the kid, as well as John Goodman as Mighty Mack and Cab Chaimberlain all as his new partners). They have Aretha, still, as well as all the band members. Sadly, Cab Calloway passed away for real, as well. One scene in the "Battle of the Bands" has a lot of famous people, so that's cool. It's definitely not the same. But it's not terrible.

i think it's drayton that's holding us back. he's just content to be either mediocre or good.he coulda resigned kent and also signed either alou or burnitz. That hunsicker also left because he couldn't deal with him anymore and now we're stuck with that purpura guy as general manager who's pretty much just a figurehead. and finally when you had a team get within a game of the series you start the rebuilding process. he should have sold the team to tillman fortita. that's what he was gonna do before they won all those games at the end last year

SB: I was having a jolly good time looking through those pictures to find the "best butt" one, so you might be seeing more. I would've loved to have seen SNL back then instead of the crap they put on now. I watched some old Steve Martin skits on a video my parents have, which were very funny (King Tut, the two brothers..."two wild and crazy guys!"), but I don't think I've ever gotten to see a Blues Brothers one. I can see what you mean about the sequel, though. If you ever get a chance to listen to some of the music (downloading, soundtrack, or something), I'd at least recommend that. You know, Dan Aykroyd was on Leno just a few days ago. I caught a bit, and my mom told me the rest of a funny story he was telling. He said that when they were filming the mall scene in the original, they were shooting in the middle of the night, like around 3:00 AM. Anyway, he said they were finally ready to shoot when they realized Belushi was nowhere to be found. Dan started looking around the stores and through the mall, then he finally stepped out in the parking lot and eventually made his way into a nearby neighborhood. One house had a light on, so just by instinct, he knocked on the door, introduced himself, and explained the situation. The person that answered said, "Are you looking for John? He came in a while ago, raided the fridge, and now he's asleep on the couch." Dan said that's just the way John was. I wish I'd caught all of it, but Dan said some really nice things about John. Well, I woke up this morning to hear my dad replaying the good music scenes from Blues Brothers 2000, so we watched some of those again, and I had to bring out the original. I just started it, but I think I'll be watching it on and off throughout the day... Oh, here's a picture of the mural that my dad painted in our garage:

i usually go on the espn one but now it's pretty much dead and yeah kent was a guaranteed 100 rbi guy. just for that walkoff home run in the playoffs we shoulda kept him another year because i like biggio at second but i'd rather have biggio in the outfield instead of burke. burke hasn't shown me anything really yet in hitting or fielding

Greekdude, yes, that's true. I hope Baggy can play a little more (hate to see him go like this), but it's good to prepare Berkman for the future. SB and Bethie, thanks! He'll really appreciate the compliments. He has a web site going, if you'd like to see his other stuff. He claims he isn't good at drawing people (gets stressed with all the facial details...), but I thought Jake and Elwood turned out really well. He's getting into crafty type stuff now, and he's working on making board games and holiday yard decorations to rent/sell. He's very creative, and he's always got new ideas running. Beth, I'm sure he would give Vinny a try!

Greekdude, maybe we should start up an Astros thread! The weird thing was that I had it downloaded long before I rewatched the movie, and thought this of the voice even then. I'll keep looking for an audio clip. Oh, and check out this pic! This was when he "saw the light" just as Jake did, and joined the band, but I thought it was so weird yet cool that he looks exactly like Cab Calloway in this one shot! In the movie, he plays the son of Curtis, Cab's character, but it's ironic how much he actually looks like him here!

Zia...I'll definitely be watching our boy! I felt terrible; I only watched from the last couple of minutes of regulation time on the last game. But it was a nailbiter from there, so I was hooked! I watched it alone until it went into OT, then I came out to where my mom was, and I made the gesture that Duncan did, with his hands to his face, looking so upset. She laughed, and then we watched all of OT together and both screamed when Big Shot Bob made the shot. As you know, I haven't watched basketball for very long, and I don't really remember Horry's days with the Rockets, but my mom did. She told me during the game that she was praying for a miracle shot by Horry, and we got it. I watched the post game interviews, and I was cracking up at the way Tim Duncan and Horry joke and tease around each other. It's so funny! And in one interview, still on the court, Duncan was asked something about what made the difference, or who they owed it to, or something; he turned around slowly to look at Horry behind him, and said, "Big Shot Bob. Big Shot Bobby." Hilarious. Oh, and Manu had his post game interview...which I happened to catch. I think I might have drooled; I don't remember. Love his hair, love his accent...gosh. Anyway, tonight, I've got the Astros, Spurs, and the AFI top 100 movie quotes all to watch! I think I'll tape AFI and watch it later, flip back and forth between my sports since I'll hear about it anyway, but also tape Manu and his Spurs. Edit: You know, Rob ain't too bad, either.
