Well, SB, A-Rod had quite a nice outing! A walk and single, right?

Poor Roy didn't do so well, but Roger did great! I'm still waiting to see Lidge and Ensberg...

I'll tell ya, the All-Star game sure is a good thing for the ladies! A-Rod, Miguel Cabrera, Jeff Kent, Felipe Lopez, Pudge, Johnny Damon....WOW!

Of course we wouldn't! We'd be too busy thinking about our guys...

Okay, maybe, but...whatever. :p

I never made fun of you...I was trying to get you to come out of your shell and join in on our discussions.

Johnny Damon!! YUK!! When they played the Yankees last year, Fox did a whole "Evil Empire" thing with Damon as Chewbacca. Also, ever since I saw him in his robe with all the highlighting foil in his hair on Queer Eye, he just is too repulsive. As my daughter used to say when she was two, "I just can't like him."

I just couldn't get into the game without my DJ. This was the first time since 1997 that he hasn't played. I guess it's better that he got his rest so that he can help kick Boston's butt tomorrow night.

We are here to discuss the athletic prowess of a few select professionals, and your dirty mind just has to take it somewhere else, doesn't it?? :p

SB, my mom even likes Johnny Damon... I just saw a picture a while back of him without his beard, and there's that commercial now (DHL, I think), where he supposedly takes it off. Maybe if I'd seen the two things you saw him in, I'd change my mind...or it could be you don't like him 'cause he's on the Red Sox!

I'd still take Jeter anyday over him, though, and it would've been nice if he'd gotten to play. He probably would've made the beating of the NL even worse, but we lost anyway, so...

I know! I mean, the "ladies' thread" is for ladies to discuss what great athletes their favorite ball players are! Nothing else! We just let it..*ahem*...get personal every so often...

Edit: I noticed something last night while watching the ASG...this might be a bit of a stretch, but Pudge Rodriguez reminds me so much of Benny the Jet! I mean, Pudge is obviously "pudgier" than Benny, but sometimes their facial expressions seem so similar...

Oh, Benny was just too cute, both as a kid and as an adult.

Yankees v. Boston tonight. I believe that this is make or break time for my boys!

Btw, one of my co-workers lives right near where Jeter just bought a house for his parents. He's heard that Derek and Tino have been in the local pizzeria a few times. He went in Monday night to pick up a pie and there was a picture on the wall of Jeter, Tino and the owners. Seems they ordered two pies: one sausage and one pepperoni.

I live pretty close to Posada and Flaherty, the two catchers, but have never seen them.

SB, I'd be hunting those boys down!!! Get a group of crazy gals like us and send out a search party to find the ones who live near you!

I've got your boys on TV, now. My 'Stros have quite the important series coming up what with it being against the Cards...I'm nervous!

Bethie, good to hear he's already looking good for y'all! There's been rumors for us about getting a new bat in the lineup, but I'm worried about who we'll have to give up. Seriously, nearly the same name, and they sort of look alike...

Cabrera's their new center fielder since Bernie Williams isn't quite up to the task any more. I'm pretty sure that Bernie will be retiring after this season, although he still can hit pretty well.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Astros and hope the Cards fold!! Ha, ha, a little humor there. (I know, very little...)

The Yankees win!! They came back from 4-0 in the first inning to win it 8-6. ARod hit a 2 run home run that did it for them, and then Mo held them in the 9th. It was a great game.

Any humor is appreciated...I'm an easy laugh. Hope they do fold, too!

Congrats to your boys! I had it on the whole time, but kept missing parts, as I've been on the computer, as well...but how cool that A-Rod got it! I almost had him for fantasy ball, though...

For a SEEMINGLY intelligent woman, I still don't get how fantasy games work. And don't try to explain. Perhaps I lack the patience.

I was glad to see ARod come through, since he does have the tendency to not come through in the clutch. But I was quite happy to see him hit that home off of Schilling last night. Plus, I am so darn sick of hearing about Schilling and his stupid bloody sock during the playoffs last year.

I think the Baseball Challenge fantasy game I'm in is the only one that makes sense to me. All the others that I've either tried or looked at were very confusing, and I didn't even want to bother.

Are you sure you're not Irishman in disguise? Talking about Schilling...you sound just like him! Just true Yankees fans, I suppose!

We play the Cards tonight! There was an article in the paper recently where several players from each team were asked about the upcoming series, and most of the Cardinals questioned responded that they didn't even know who they were playing next, or they didn't realize the run we've been on...while all of the Astros knew exactly who was coming up and how important it is. I hope the Cardinals' lack of interest in this series sparks my guys to really want to win, now.

Clemens' son, Koby Clemens just signed with the Astros here recently!

Anytime before that I'd seen pictures of him, I never found him that attractive, but they showed some clips of him at Minute Maid practicing and during the actual signing/ceremony stuff, and he looked good! Maybe it's him becoming a 'Stro that's appealing...

Is he in AA ball? I think it's always a double edged sword when the son of a great athlete gets into "the biz". He's always gonna have it on his shoulders to be as good, if not better, then his dad. I saw something on ESPN the other day about Michael Jordon's son getting into basketball, and how he'll be compared. I hope Roger's son does great. I just hope he can relax and enjoy this experience. He doesn't need that kind of pressure at such a young age.

He's supposed to be with the Greenville Astros, our rookie league in Tennessee.

He's on their roster as a pitcher, but he's supposed to play third base for them.

Here's the article I read...

I agree, it'll probably be stressful to follow in the footsteps of Roger Clemens, his own dad, but I think/hope he'll do fine. I'm just so excited I get to see another Clemens man taking his claim to fame, and I hope I get to follow his career as he works his way up in the organization...he's our future!

P.S. Your sig is funny, Bethie...

I wish him well. It's always nice to have new blood to look at.

My daughter's home from college, and she has this cartoon cutout on her bedroom door with the phrase in my sig on it. I couldn't stop laughing. You gotta see the pic to get the full effect.

Hey Gina. I'm watching Law & Order SVU on the USA channel right now and the guy who played Smalls on The Sandlot has a part on it. He looks exactly the same.

Whoa, weird!

I was just going to say that I'll keep an eye out for him, during the Astros commercials, but thanks for posting the picture...

He does look the same, but it's sort of strange to see him older...

I changed the channel and am catching the beginning of The Surreal life with Jose Canseco and a bunch of other has beens. They all look like they're scared to death of him. He seems like a real ass already.

They have a 3 legged dog named Lucky. I don't think the dog was THAT lucky.

Here he is in "Black Hawk Down". He used to be Tom Guiry. Now he's Thomas Guiry. I think Tom actually sounds older myself.

I can't see the pic, but I'll look that up...

I didn't know he was in Black Hawk Down! I watched that movie a while back (only for Orlando Bloom... ), but I guess I didn't realize he was in it, then.

What station is the Surreal Life on? I've heard about that but never watched it...

The Surreal Life is on VH1. It just went over. But I think it's showed alot of time everyday, so you'll be able to catch it again. About 10 times a day.

Here's the cast of Black Hawk Down. I guess if you watch it again, you can look for his character. My daughter has the movie, so maybe I'll watch it. Of course, she got it when she was in her Josh Hartnett phase.

Josh Hartnett .... SSgt. Matt Eversmann
Ewan McGregor .... Spec. John Grimes
Jason Isaacs .... Capt. Mike Steele
Tom Sizemore .... Lt. Col. Danny McKnight
William Fichtner .... Sfc. Jeff Sanderson
Eric Bana .... Sfc. Norm 'Hoot' Gibson
Sam Shepard .... Maj. Gen. William F. Garrison
Ewen Bremner .... Spec. Shawn Nelson
Tom Hardy .... Spec. Lance Twombly (as Thomas Hardy)
Ron Eldard .... CWO Michael Durant
Charlie Hofheimer .... Cpl. James 'Jamie' Smith
Hugh Dancy .... Sfc. Kurt Schmid
Tom Guiry .... SSgt. Ed Yurek (as Thomas Guiry) ***
Brian Van Holt .... SSgt. Jeff Struecker
Steven Ford .... Lt. Col. Joe Cribbs

VH1 has some pretty funny shows...

Yeah, I watched Black Hawk Down probably a couple of years ago because I loved Orlando Bloom back then, and I found out he was in it...turns out he had quite a small role. Never had a thing for Hartnett, but I guess I'm just as guilty as your daughter!

Oh my God...what's happening to SB's Yankees? I know Tim Redding started, who happens to be a terrible pitcher (we used to have him), but GameDay said he only gave up 6 ER out of the total 17!

It wasn't a game, it was a massacre. It was so awful that it actually became funny. Cabrera's error in the third (I think it was the third) allowed Nixon and in-the-park three run homer and it was completely downhill from there. Oh, yeah, and all of their pitchers might as well be dead. It was like sending a little league player in. It was just scary.

Gina, Sorry that your Astros are not doing well against the Cards. I saw on mlb.com that they lost today, and I think they narrowly lost yesterday as well.

The Yankees came back after yesterday's beating and won 7-4. ARod hit another 2 run homer and I believe Jeter had a double RBI (or maybe a single). It was a very good game. The Big Unit pitched well, but with Pavano, Brown and Wang on the DL, I don't know who is going to pitch tomorrow. I guess we can pray for rain!!!

Glad to hear about your Yankees, SB...it's always nice to hear that one of our gal's teams won. And thank you for your sympathy for my boys...

The Astros are about to send me into depression!

Last night's game was very close...I talked about it on the fantasy thread but forgot to say anything here. It was a 4 1/2 hour, thirteen-inning game; we came back to tie the score twice, gained the lead, then lost it on a walk-off 2-run homer by Albert Poo-hole.
