Usually the kids beg to stay up for the playoff games, and it's tough to say no, but my daughter was only in 4th grade last year. My older daughter isn't very interested.

Oh, I could understand that. That's so cool that she's gotten into it so soon, though!

As am I. For my boys, that is.

They almost made a comeback, only to let me down.

Oh well. We'll both hope for a better day tomorrow, eh?

Well, now that The Big Unit is having back problems, I have no idea who the heck is going to start anymore.

ARod hit a homer in the bottom of the 9th, and then they walked Giambi and Tino hit a single. It looked like they were going to tie the game, but it was too little too late.

Yeah, our game was like that...I think Berkman walked, then Ensberg struck out, but I was still hoping to tie it up or maybe even get a walk-off, but we got a game-ending double play, instead.

Hopefully better luck tonight.

Oh my gosh...

They just showed Robert Horry at the Astros game! If I ever see him when I'm there...whoo, man.

And as I type this, Livan Hernandez gets a homer to tie up the game...what in the world?

I FINALLY have something to contribute to this thread. While on vacation I seen the Seattle Seahawks and their baseball team stadiums. Also I seen the Raven's stadium last Friday when I went to the BB weekend get-together.

Oh, Mig, you should always feel welcome to post here! We end up talking about things that have nothing to do with sports, sometimes, and even when we're on-topic, you can always join in! Don't be shy!

A CHICK?? Well, at least you didn't say "girl"!

Mig, While we do post about following our teams (and I must admit that baseball is the only sport that I follow, so come November, I'm out), we do end up talking about many different things, so y'all come back soon, ya hear?

And, the Yankees lost AGAIN yesterday in the 10th. Well, it was the White Sox, who are playing amazingly well this year.

SB, I've been meaning to bring this up! I'd like to get into football, and I watch a bit of basketball, but I don't know near as much about either, so I was thinking about what would become of the ladies' thread depending on our interests. There's always off-season talk for baseball, it doesn't take much basketball knowledge to post pictures of Tracy McGrady, Robert Horry, etc. ( ), and as we've all said, we can just have regular "chick chat."

I just can't get into football. My husband loves it, but I find it very boring. My former neighbor used to play for the NY Jets, and he offered to teach me football. I understand it, but just find it boring.

I have seen basketball in person, which is not bad, but don't like watching it on TV. I do like a good NASCAR race, but it used to be far more exciting than it is now.

However, baseball is on now, and my boys are winning. Matsui hit a home run, Giambi got hit with a pitch so he went to first and then Posada hit a homer, so the score is 6-2. My Jeter just got tagged out at first, though.

We play/perform at football games for Band, and those are very exciting to watch - I'd like to give regular football a chance, but I may end up feeling the same way as you, where I just can't get into it.

Baseball's my true love, but the offseason is just unbearable! Can't our boys just play year-round so we don't miss them so much? Sheesh.

I would just like to be "well-rounded" as a sports fan and be able to at least follow and talk basketball and football, so maybe during those lonely offseason days, I'll take the time to get into it. Or I'll just read trade rumors and whatever else they've got on MLB's web page.

Bravo to your boys! Here's hoping both of our teams can hold on to their leads! I'm the same way as you must be with Jeter - even when we get a rally going, or we're doing okay, I hate to see Willy make an out. I remember one game where he was actually picked off at first, and it was so ironic that he (nicknamed "Roadrunner"), of all our guys, would be caught...though I guess you would expect guys that might be stealing to get picked off every so often.

Edit: Wow. Tracy McGrady is at Minute Maid Park watching the Astros! That's it. Someone's gonna have to sneak me down to the diamond seats or club level (whatever it's called), when these guys are around!

Gina, Did you hear about the guy who landed in the foul ball net at Yankee Stadium? Everyone thought that he fell from the upper deck and was lucky enough to land in the net. However, his friends snitched on him and it turns out that one of his friends dared him to do it! He has since been arrested. Can you imagine doing anything that stupid??

Michael Young just hit a 3 run home run and the Rangers have tied the game in the 7th. I can't stand Sturtze!!

Jeter just scored a home run to take the lead again! I just love to see that man run around the bases. ARod's up now (sigh), but he struck out .

I did hear about the guy that fell in the net, but I don't think I'd heard it was on a dare! What a nut! Just the safety of it is a huge concern, but it's also just plain dumb...what do you think the players thought of that? Not the best way to earn their respect or impress them.

You should have seen the look on their faces when the guy landed in the net! They were all just staring with their mouths hanging open.

Would've loved to see that. I heard there was a great play by David Wright, too - I missed all my baseball highlights, though.

OMG!! Did you see Cameron and Beltran run into one another?? It was horrible. They ran full tilt onto each other, head on, at top speed. Beltran is banged up, but ok, but Cameron is hurt very badly. He broke his nose, has a concussion and has several fractures in his cheekbones.

Here's the article Collision

This was another thing I missed the night of, but I read about it in the paper this morning! They showed three pictures in a frame-by-frame manner, and it looked scary just from that - I'm sure I'll be shocked if I ever see the actual video! Thanks for that article - it gave more information. I can't believe that...it sounds so terrible. I hope both of them can feel better and get healthy as soon as possible.

It really did look horrible. It was absolutely awful to see them running at one another, and you just want to yell "Watch out!" at the TV!

On the other hand, my boys were down 3-0, but are now leading 5-4 after three innings. Of course, they've taken an hour and a half to play those three innings. At this rate, the game's going to go on all weekend!!

I see that your guys are winning right now!!

Jeez, that would be a long game if it keeps going at that rate! Hope y'all can keep the lead - and I hope we can, too. The Pirates just got a run, but I'm hoping we can hang on and maybe get some insurance.

I'm planning to make tags for people at school (that can go on our ID badges) that have phrases about the Astros, like "Member of the Clemens Clan." My friend wants us to be "Ensberg's Eggheads," but that doesn't sound very appealing to me.

That's a great one! Thank you!

Here are some of the others I thought up:

Clemens' Clan
Oswalt's Wizards or O's Bros (<--Well, I didn't think of this one...)
Taveras' Troop or Willy's Roadrunners
Lidge's Lights Out Lidgerators
Lamb's League of Lambs
Palmeiro's Platoon
Everlasting Everetts
Awesome Ausmus' Association
Lane's Lot (<--Not sure about this one.

Oh, my poor guys had a rough time tonight, but they pulled off a win, thankfully! I was flipping channels while talking to my friend, and we found game highlights on a spanish channel, and I got to see Orlando Palmeiro and Willy Taveras talk in spanish! I had no clue what they were saying, but it was so hot. My friend translated for me, though, which was cool.

Glad both our teams pulled it out at the end!! 2 days in a row, Jeter hit the game-winning homer. I like your list. Pretty good ideas!

My boys are playing right now, top of the 8th, and they're winning 5-1. However, there are no outs and a man on base. You never know! Mussina has pitched an awesome game and Arod hit a homer that they think was over 500 feet!

Hope your guys can finish 'em off! I just read on MLB's page that Sheff also got a homer, along with A-Rod, right? I considered both of them for fantasy, yet I ended up not taking them.

My guys aren't on TV, tonight.

Turns out ARod's homer was 485 feet. Verrrry impressive. Tehat game was scary. The Rangers tied it up in the 9th (Mo blew it, very unusual), but Bernie Williams homered in the 11th and they won 7-5.
