I'm seeing your 'Stros battle my Dodgers this weekend, Gigi. I'm not sure yet which day I'm going, but hey, I'm excited about seeing Pettitte in real life. Be still my heart! :p

Sounds great, Zia!

Glad one of us will be able to watch them. I'm going on a church retreat this weekend, and I'll end up missing all three games because of it. Maybe it's for the best - our rivalry might've gotten out of hand.

Enjoy Andy...he's certainly easy to. And be sure to look for my Willy, so you'll know who he is!

He's easy?? ...Oh, easy to. :p

I'll keep an eye out for your Willy... God, I can't say that seriously. So what number is he, just to be sure?

Easy, easy to, what's the difference?

My Willy is #1. No, seriously, his number is 1.

I wonder how they pick numbers? For example, ARod is 13. I'm surprised that there's not some sort of superstition about it, like buildings not having a 13th floor. Can they ask for numbers, are they randomly assigned? Does anyone know?

Gina, Willy's 1 and Jeter's 2.

I remember hearing something about how Clemens asked for 22 because his son suggested it, I think - so I figure you can ask for a particular one, but otherwise, I guess they assign it.

Apparently I missed a fan photo day at the stadium last Sunday, where fans can go take pictures with all of the players. The girl that talked to me a while back (who I found out also likes Willy Taveras), actually got to take a picture with Willy there. And they were a little too close to each other.

I've been switching between The Braves game and The Cubs game all day, and on The Braves game they had a poll for the fans to pick the rookie of the year. I think over 50% had your boy Willy, Gina. I'll keep my fingers crossed. They say The Astros have been stroking since Willy was called up. That has to make him feel stoked.

The Orioles are setting in motion the process of releasing Sidney Ponson. Bye, bye fat boy. That's one smart decision they've made.

Good for them, Bethie.

We just brought up a player named Charles Gipson whom I'd never previously heard of, but apparently he's played on the Mariners and other teams. Anyway, I think he's quite cute!

Not bad, not bad. I like the second picture better. But I'm totally not digging the Cholo sideburns. I hate those... I think anytime a guy spends more time sculpting his sideburns/goatee than the combined time I spend on my makeup, hair, and outfit, he better be gay, or else there's something severely wrong.

I remember thinking the same thing when Mike Piazza had that pencil goatee. It's got to be high maintenance! However, although he's a Mutt, he is seriously hot.

My Yankees have been playing on the West Coast and the games don't start until 10:00 pm EST, and I have not been able to stay up for more than a few innings. Not that there's been much to see. They've been getting their asses handed to them, unfortunately. This season, it seems that every time they take a few steps forward, they take another few back.

Part... :p

I saw your post way earlier, but I refused to reply until the game was over - I was too stressed out, and I do worry about jinxes.

This was probably the most entertaining game of the season, and I almost fell asleep just about every inning. SB, late games are terrible, and I was so sleepy from the school week that this extra-inning game almost got the best of me.

Part, I'm not going to brag or anything because I'm afraid it'll jinx the next game (which should be quite a show with Clemens and Carpenter, but I'll miss it... ), but I just can't believe what a weird and close game it was tonight. Just back and forth every inning...

Me too. He seems to take generally bad pictures, but as it is for many, he looks much better live. It's always nice to have some new blood to check out.

Gina,

In watching all the news coverage of how the people of Houston, TX have banded together and really stretched their arms out to the Hurricane victims is really touching and inspiring. They say some people are saying they want to stay and live in Houston because of the outpouring of help and support the good people of your town have given them. As sports fans we all talk all day about our love our our teams, but then the fact that The Astrodome is being used for such more worthy activities is just great. I feel like I want to give you a big hug and have you share it with all the people of your great town. It's purely inspiring.

Bethie, that is so sweet of you to say that. I wish I could give you a hug!

I wish I could be more involved in helping out, but my Band director has mentioned we might try to make a group donation to one of the organizations helping the victims, which I'd certainly like to do, and my parents were just talking today about donating our cots for the victims to sleep on - I guess they'd be used in the Astrodome, too. I agree with you...I think it's great the Dome can be used for such a worthy cause, and though small in the overall effort, it was such a comfort to see the nice cots and food available there for the people. My Band director has taken in several distant family members, as well, so she's given a hand, which I think is great. When we were talking about this in class, she mentioned we might be getting some new kids at our schools that were involved with Katrina. I don't know how we'd go about it, or how it'd work out, but I think it'd be wonderful if my family could take some victims in to actually live with us. It's just so weird and almost impossible to imagine what those people have gone through and will have to go through. It really makes me appreciate that I have food for every meal, a bathroom and shower, all of my belongings, my family safe and together, and just every small thing that we take for granted. It'll be a long recovery, but I hope and pray for the best.

Part - just give us a win, okay? How are we going to win the WC if y'all keep beating up on us?! :p I missed the game, today, so maybe they lost only 'cause I wasn't watching. Actually, I had to take my Astros wristband off after about two months of wearing it, so I think that really jinxed it.

Our State Superintendent of Schools said for us to be prepared for any possible hurricane victims being enrolled in Maryland schools. She said to cut through any red tape and put them through immediately. I'm sure people in the effected areas have family and friends all over who may be putting them up, so all schools in every state should be prepared to take in these students.

So very sad to think how disrupted their lives have been, isn't it? Gina, I echo your sentiments. It's awfully nice to hae your family and home all together, isn't it?

I had heard that some professional athletes were going to donate money, but then not much more after that. Anybody here know?

The Nats win!

The Red Sox/White Sox game had gone over and the station put on the 9th inning of The Nats/Marlins game. Talk about a teaser. But that was the damage, so all is well.

The Orioles sent Rafael Palmeiro home to Texas to "rehab his injured knee". Right. Like he couldn't do that with the team trainers. This at the time when the club is giving him earplugs to drain out the deafening boos he's been getting from other teams.

Translation: "Thanks, but no thanks, buddy. It's been nice knowing ya. We don't need any negativity while we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Cal's 2131. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out".

Gee, Beth, you think? I can't believe that he actually tried to get away with saying that it was an "accident". That's really too much!

The Yankees won two in a row, and right now they are ahead of Tampa Bay 3-2 at the top of the 4th. Keep your fingers crossed.

Good riddance, I say, Bethie. I'm just disgusted with him and Bonds. They've really tainted the great image of baseball.

Like I said, not a big football fan, but I can appreciate a hottie when I see one!

This gentleman moved in next door to my family when I was a teenager. He had just retired from football and was doing the Jets radio announcing. He's a handsome man, and a real sweetheart.

Football's your favorite sport, right, Beth?

I've never really been into it, but I go to my high school's games, and they're always exciting to watch, even despite my lack of knowledge on the game.

And no matter how much I know about the game, the players look so good in those uniforms!
