It's been so long since I posted here, and I have no idea how to even BEGIN responding to everyone's posts. First of all - Happy, Happy New Year!! Of course, I want to wish my good friends Zia and JG a very happy birthday. Wish I could give you both a big birthday smooch (No tongue, Geoff). DS, I think that your proposal was so sweet and, more importantly, very thoughtful. Geoff, in the laundry?? If you ever carry out that plan, you'd better pray that she checks the pockets, unlike me when I washed Mr. Babe's paycheck once. DS, your proposal was way more romantic than Mr. Babe's, who did it by Post-It. He actually left the ring in my robe pocket with a note inside the box, asking "Will you marry me? Please place a check in the appropriate box" and two little boxes with Yes or No written next to them. He must've been pissed when I didn't put my robe on, and he went home. I found the ring the next morning. ) and they said that they had some beautiful blond wrestler who would be dancing, and I thought it might be Trish, but it was some other woman. Don't know who she was, but she was NOTHING in comparison to Trish.

I'm convinced it was their gift to me; they knew it was my birthday. I heard them, before the game, they were like, "This one's for Zia!" They also said that before every shot. If anyone taped the game, go back and pay attention, you'll see it's true. Especially Kobe, tonight... He scored 48 points, and became the youngest player EVER to reach 15,000 points in his career. JG, you can add that to those historical events you listed in the birthday thread! :p And he made all SEVEN 3's that he shot! Unbelievable. Some friends and cousins of mine and I went out to eat tonight, and luckily there was a TV at the restaurant, so we caught like the second half of the game there. Otherwise I would have missed it! It was weird, because it's not like a TV kind of restaurant; it's pretty chic and trendy. So I was counting on not seeing the game tonight... it was a nice surprise.

January stinks. It's cold and it's dark. It is gross. I was actually excited there for a little bit because the NY Giants were in a playoff game, but they got their asses whipped. Imagine - so desperate for sports that I would actually watch a football game. TV was so boring last night (although Two and a Half Men was hilarious) that we watched the rerun of a Yankee game on the YES network. I want baseball!! I want baseball!! I want me some Jeter!!! Plus, I'm on a diet, which makes me even crankier than usual. And my new underwire bra is proving to be exceptionally constricting. Is it true you can get hit by lightning if you're wearing one

Sorry to laugh, SB, but that was a funny post. Not funny because I enjoy your suffering, but funny because I get in those exact same moods sometimes... like I hate everything around me all at once. And you're so right, like to top it all off, something like your bra being uncomfortable will just make everything worse, too. You just wanna get in your pj's and sleep it off, right? Like, wake me up when things get better. :p In your case, we'll wake you up when baseball starts. You watched football though? Wow, that's pretty bad. I'd never heard that theory of getting struck by lightning in an underwire bra... that's pretty interesting, not to mention hilarious. I'm imagining the whole scenario. A woman in an empty flat field, getting struck, and as she is brought to her knees, dying, her last words are, "Damn you, Victoria's Secret! Damn you!!!!" She might even shake her fist at the sky, to make it even more dramatic. Some brands do make plastic underwires too though, have you seen those? I think actually, one of my Victoria's Secret ones might be like that. I know I have one like that, because it said so on the tag, but I just don't remember the brand. Come to think of it, I wonder if that's why they switched to plastic! Metal is just too much of a liability.

This is crazy - I just found out this past week that a close friend of mine is a huge fan of Brian Setzer, and he plays the upright bass! I've known this guy for a couple of years, now, and we've talked about a number of things, mostly the Astros, but I never knew this. My cousin was the one who found out from him, and I think we've convinced him to bring the bass to my party tomorrow. We've already chatted about the music, and he seems to like Brian with the Stray Cats more, but I plan to show him some of my Orchestra CDs and DVDs. I guess that my being a Band nerd is why I enjoy the big band sound more.

So, how was the party, Gina? Did you all have fun? And don't call yourself a band "nerd". Seems there are some men who find the whole band thing rather attractive (of course they will remain nameless )

SB, we all had a wonderful time yesterday - thanks for asking! I had a moonwalk this year, for the very first time, and we had a blast jumping around in it. Even my parents, as well as two aunts and an uncle got in it! ), and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Oh, the Setzer fan with the bass ended up not coming...without calling, either. But, the school friends that did come made it very fun, and I think we all enjoyed ourselves. Welcome to the thread, Meggie!

Happy January 15th, Gigi!! Whatever it was... That's cute of your friend's gift. Also, I didn't know Maynard had a DVD out, that's pretty cool. I just may have to check it out. I always think of you whenever I read a mention of him in a jazz magazine or anything, by the way. You will forever be associated with him in my mind. DB, I just saw the picture of Maria you posted for me, by the way. Thanks! If I knew how to spell the grunt that she does, I'd end my post with that. Actually, I'd end every post with that.

DS - In The Wedding Planner with Jennifer Lopez, she dismissed most grooms as NID - Not Into Details. I know that my husband certainly wasn't. He just wanted to rent his tux and show up. The only thing he was semi-interested in was in hiring the band. Other than that, could've cared less if we were married in a cornfield. Btw, Mr. Babe and I are going to be married 20 years this October. I mentioned to him that friends of ours are going to renew their vows on the beach while on vacation this summer. He mocked the whole thing and asked if it was because they didn't get it right the first time. He also quoted lines from Shawshank Redemption ("They send you here for Life, and that's just what they take"), since he was wondering if we were married longer than Andy Dufresne spent at Shawshank. I guess I'm not getting any romantic vow renewal ceremony on the beach!!
