Babe, I was able to score with getting Jeter on my fantasy baseball league. Now we have to work on having you score with him.

Is there any way you can get him to come to Philly in August?

I'll have Nicole arrange a kidnapping plot and get back to you on that one.

Is there any chance The Yankees could be playing the Phillies that weekend?

Damn! They're in Boston that weekend! I guess that's way too important for him to take the weekend off.

I get my new fridge delivered next Sunday. Woo hoo! I'll finally remember what it's like to eat ice cream that doesn't have the texture of kool aid.

Isn't it amazing how easily we're pleased? Buy yourself some Dreamery Ice Cream. It is to die for. It's been on sale here for $1 a pint, and I've bought about 7 pints in the last two weeks. I highly recommend either Cherry Ba-Da-Bing, Strawberry Cheesecake, or Chocolate Truffle Explosion. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Chunk is really good, too. Can you tell that I'm going to be a disaster come bathing suit season?

Dreamery ice cream? I've never heard of it. Bring some to Philly this summer, I gotta try it.

I'm gonna feel spoiled. I never wanted an automatic ice and water dispenser, but I really wanted this refrigerator, so I guess I'll have to suffer through that..hahaha. I got it in black......cause I'm a witchy woman. BOO!

Gals, why did I never realize how cute Grady Sizemore is?!

I kept seeing his picture in the fantasy game and thinking how gorgeous he looked, but I wasn't sure if he'd look the same in "real life" - I couldn't remember. Anyway, my boys are on TV (finally) tonight, and we're playing Cleveland, Sizemore's team - when he came up to bat, he looked just as cute!!!

And, we've got our new pitcher starting tonight, who also happens to be quite a cutie - hope he turns out well and we see some more appearances from him. Fresh meat!

Sizemore? Oh, don't mention him in the fantasy baseball thread. That will get more comments then Willy.

Oh...the irony.

Grady made a great play in the outfield to make the last out of the game for us, thus our loss.

Between the Willy and the Sizemore, you really will be leaving yourself open for some jokes, Gina! He is fairly cute, though.

Beth, look for the Dreamery next time you're in the store. TO DIE FOR.

Thanks.

So, I assume your excitement is only growing, with Opening day so near?

I think I've mentioned my countdown - I've been maintaining one for the Astros' Opening Day on my school ID badge since last season ended - tomorrow's number will be 11!

And after convincing 24 people at school to join the fantasy game, I am really looking forward to the season.

Glad that you'll be enjoying your fantasy leagues this year. I am waiting rather impatiently for the season to begin. For some reason, I don't get that excited about the exhibition games. Maybe because they don't really count. But poor Jeter got hit in the back by a pitch in the 7th inning yesterday against Boston.

I posted this in the FB thread, but I thought I'd post it here too, since we've got some psychotic sports fanatics here as well. You ladies know who you are.

Some of you may know I'm a big fan of Flea's blogs for the Lakers. Here's his latest and greatest. I just wanted to share it because it so describes me (and probably the rest of you) perfectly, although I think Flea and I might be the same person. I've never seen us in the same room at the same time...

He hasn't been to the PL school of grammar though, so bear with it. It's all a jumbled mess on the site itself, so I actually fixed the line spacing here to make it easier to read. My apologies to the "creative flea" who prefers to write like e e cummings. :p

Quote:

The Many Faces of Flea, the Fan
Root unto others as they would root for you

well as the basketball season rolls along
and the lakers basketball play waxes and wanes
i go through a variety of emotional states as anyone who reads my blog
can clearly see

there is the mature flea (rarely) who sees it all as a growing experience and appreciates the struggle and the great talent around the nba

there is the angry frustrated flea who needlessly takes players to task for having bad games and who is impatient and a finger pointer

that same angry flea who gets mad at lamar or devean or smush or kwame for having a bad game who couldn't do a darn thing on the court himself except in his recurring dream where they call him in from the stands and he dons the purple and gold and comes in to save the day

that same frustrated guy who thinks he knows what he is talking about from the safety of his living room couch or comfy season ticket seat that he is so proud of

the guy who complains about substitution patterns but like most basketball fans only sees the obvious things like a big rebound or who is scoring points or making flashy assists
and yet questions the decision making of someone who has dedicated their life to understanding the minute of details and biggest picture of what makes a basketball team play well and spends day after day with the players in practice....

the optimistic flea (my favorite) who is positive the lakers are about to go on a ten game winning streak and have a good chance of winning it all this year

who can feel the momentum building and see the team making a profound breakthrough into greatness

who knows they can match up against anyone in the nba when they are on, and they are on baby!

the regular flea who just loves the lakers, knows they have been a touchstone for sanity in his life for many years and appreciates his long relationship with them

the guy who really loves the players and wants the best for all of them

then there is the crazy neurotic flea (my least favorite of all) who thinks that the lakers play actually affects his life when superstition takes over and if the lakers are winning his life is going swimmingly
but if they are losing he is certain of impending doom at every turn

and the slightly crazy inoffensive type of crazy flea who listens to the tv with the sound off or on depending on which might be good luck

and who puts his magic johnson shoe in front of the tv and his chick hearn bobblehead for good luck

who has his current lakers bobbleheads up front but makes derek fisher and rick fox stay way in the back and put his shaquille o'neal bobblehead in the corner facing the wall like the kids at the end of the blair witch project

basically i have been pretty wrapped up in this lakers thing for some
time

and they are a shoe in to win the championship this year

if smush could just make his freethrows
Isn't that brilliant? I'm sure all of us could relate to it, in our own respective teams. I was cracking up because it has me down to every detail, the only thing that doesn't apply to me is that I don't have a Magic Johnson shoe. But everything else, from the multiple personalities, to the season tickets, to the collection of bobbleheads that they give out at games, etc, all of it is exactly me. Except I put all that free crap in a box; it doesn't exactly match my house. :p But I do keep it.

As we were walking out of the Staples Center today, I was ecstatic as usual about our win, and I was talking about Sasha Vujacic, and my boyfriend was like, "Do you love me as much as you love the Lakers? I don't think so most of the time." Screw him, he doesn't love me as much as he loves the Lakers, either. I don't feel bad.

Great post, Zia!

I don't get like that for basketball (thank God - I'd probably kill myself acting that way for two sports!), but that description definitely fits me when it comes to baseball.

Now, I'm even more excited about the season!

Next week's West Wing...all I can say is YES!!!

Josh...do you have Donna?

But it will be bittersweet as it's the end of Leo. Although, with Leo only being mentioned and not seen this week it's obvious as of this week's taping that John Spencer already died.

If it's a dream I'm going to personally hunt down the producer and torture him, like he's torturing us.

I'm confused though. I thought they said when the show ended it was going to be the conclusion of the election, and the outside funeral scene for Leo that was done in Baltimore is due to air in May. What the hell is going to happen for the next 2 months? Are they only going to do 4 more shows?

I'm guessing that the show will deal with the election and Leo's death, and then the rest of the episodes will be about Smits' transition into office, as well as maybe Toby's trial. I'm very curious as to who the leak could be. It wasn't Leo, CJ or David, then who is left? Who could Toby be protecting??

So, we're predicting that hottie will win? Wonder who will be V.P. then.

C.J. asked Toby what David knew, so if he didn't have clearance to know would'nt C.J. be considered his leak? I remember when Annabeth told Toby about the story that was running, the final scene was a close up of a very suspicious looking C.J.

I'm just wondering...in the coming scenes where they show Sam he says "I'm here for the president". If the election's over I wonder if he was talking about Bartlett or the new one?

I think that the clip of Sam was from an old show, so he may or may not actually use that line in the upcoming episode. It is sad to think about Leo's death and J/D doing it (finally!) all in one episode. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions! I think it would've been better if they did it right after Leo's funeral, sort of as a way to comfort one another, rather than to blow off stress, as hinted at in the preview.

Toby told Andi that it was definitely NOT Leo, CJ or David. There aren't too many others left who might know that sort of information.

As for VP, since Josh suggested Nancy as Sec. of State, perhaps her for VP? Josh as his CoS, Sam as Dir. of Comm., and Donna as Press Secretary. Sounds good to me!!
