SC, Usually, when a man stops by the Ladies Thread, we issue a Cooties Alert. However, we have obviously made an exception in your case. Not sure if you feel complimented by that or not. :p
My boys won last night!! Poor ARod left men on base not once but TWICE last night. He is reaaaaallllly feeling the pressure. He's a great player, and everyone's been saying that it's only a matter of time until he gets his swing back. I sure hope it's sooner, rather than later.
Watching Soriano play against the Yankees last night, I sure wish we had him back. He surely would be an asset right now, especially if he would be willing to play a fielding position.

That's so sweet of you to ask, Bethie. (I still don't see where that Crabby nickname came from. ) After one particular night of heavy rain during this stuff, our street was flooded, and my grandparents' house came about two inches from being flooded. Fortunately, whatever else came through managed to miss us. Tropical Storm Allison of 2001 flooded our home, along with everyone else's we knew, but it was the first time for this house. My brother and I helped the best we could, but my parents had to do a lot of work on their own to rebuild. They're now absolutely terrified of flooding again, which I can't blame them for, so we were on alert throughout this. We had extra tables in the house in case we had to start stacking our belongings. Anyway, we were very thankful that it didn't hit us like it could've.

Speaking of floods... actually nothing to do with them, just wanted to tie it in. Anyway, I was asked to provide a little more World Cup eye candy. Ask and you shall receive. From Argentina, this is Roberto Ayala. I like him because he's ALWAYS pissed when he's on the field. Every time they show a close up of him, he's yelling at someone. It's hilarious. From Italy, here's Alessandro Del Piero. All-around adorable. He's got a short haircut now, almost bald. Still cute though. Also from Italy, this is Luca Toni. Not only hot, but also really tall, 6'4" and a half. Again Italian (what can I say, they're hot!), here's Alessandro Nesta, who IMHO should get a haircut... just a little bit, not too short. Here's Rafael van der Vaart from the Netherlands, who usually looks better than he does in this picture: And that's all for now. There are so many of them, but I think that's all the pictures I can fit in one post. Enjoy and let me know what you guys think!

Thought I'd share some pics from the game - I mentioned it in BBC...I was lucky enough to get to see Rocket in his first start tonight. A tough game, but he did well for just coming back...if only we'd had better offense. #1 - Brandon Backe at practice #2 - I think this was Pettitte, Willy, and Chris Burke #3 - Twins practicing in front of us #4 - My obsession #5 - I think this was Torii Hunter...I hated that I wasn't certain (no name/number to verify it), but I was pretty sure, so I took pics #6 - Blurry, but another of "my" guy #7 - Twins on field #8 - A kid in the scoreboard...don't ask me... #9 - Twins #10 - More Twins #11 - Fantasy gamers gotta love Mauer #12 - Rocket Man #13 - Morgan Ensberg #14 - Rog Batting #15 - Everett and Ensberg side by side #16 - Preston Wilson all dirtied up #17 - Biggio at bat #18 - View of the sellout crowd...before all the fairweather fans walked out #19 - Spelled "Got Rocket?" like "Got Milk?", but I caught it without the "Got" and found it funny #20 - Rocket Videos: Close-Up View of Twins Practice I\'m pathetic, I know, but I couldn\'t help but find this amusing...

That looks like a lot of fun, Gi! Some of those Twins are hot, huh? I remember noticing that when I saw them here, too. That second video is amusing. "Get those knees up!" By the way, you guys have a beautiful stadium. And huge!! A sellout crowd... how many is that? It looks like it fits more people than Dodger Stadium does, which is pretty big in its own right.

Zia, they gave the attendance for that night at the game, and I think it was around 45,000 (Edit: Make that around 43,000...don't know what I was thinking) - they announced that it was the most ever for Minute Maid. My mom was just telling me that our old stadium, The Astrodome, used to hold a lot more, though. Drayton, our owner, was probably wishing he had a couple more seats to sell for that game! Glad I'm not the only one laughing at what's probably a typical workout routine for a player... I felt embarassed, taking videos and pics of the guys when they could easily see I was doing so, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. SB, you're right - I'm really thankful that I'm able to see them play. And because I have the chance, it's my job to provide my good friends here with nice shots of...the game. And the guys in tight uniforms. Though I love the stadium atmosphere, watching at home can be just as nice when you consider replays and better shots of what's going on...I was missing that last night. Truly, I enjoy the "cheap seats" way up high (where I usually sit) more than any of the "good seats" that I get (only when they're given!), because you get a complete view, and I think you can find more true fans up there, compared to the "social fans" you find in the nicer sections.

Originally posted by Sicilian Babe: Gina, a win is a win. And your Willy got the RBI single that won the game!! You're right, SB. Truly, I was happy for most of the team (especially Willy, who also stole two bases!) - Oswalt pitched an incredible game, and we finally got our offense together...10 runs is not very common for us! It's just that our bullpen is any team's nightmare. Each and every one of those guys in there has been great at some point or another, but it's like they alternate having terrible outings. I only completely trust two of our relievers, now. And I'm really worried about Lidge - to go from what he was (Lights Out) to what he is now...I can't help but think back to the Pujols homer in the playoffs and wonder if it's gotten to him. ), but it's the same ol' story for the fans to see the bullpen blow (or nearly blow) the game. Thanks for the story on that umpire - how funny! I kept hearing about it on ESPN, but I never got the full story. Though I didn't actually see the play, I sure hope Koby isn't getting any special treatment from the umpires just because he's a Clemens. Then again, umps are umps, and someone's always going to be mad at them.

SB, so often I've wondered what kind of team we could have if we combined the Astros and the Yankees, because we used to always have opposite woes. We had solid starting pitching in Clemens, Pettitte, and Oswalt, but we had zero offense. Your boys have starting pitching troubles, but your offense is terrifying (in a good way). Our bullpens, combined, would be decent enough. So basically, we could have a super-team. The thing is, Andy has struggled lately, and Rocket obviously is just now getting back in a groove. Also, our bullpen has gotten worse, I'd have to say. So...I'm not sure if we have much to offer, now. Give those Braves the ol' tomahawk chop. We're playing Detroit. *shudder*
