Is there a therapist in the house? Sign me up for a session. And every other Astros fan. And all of the players. We're all going to need it. A few highlights of the game... - Roy Oswalt, who came in to pinch hit because we had only pitchers available late in the game, hit a double but was called out for not tagging first base. - Jason Lane failed to advance to third on a sac fly because he tripped after tagging up. - Eric Munson on first - though not even the lead runner because we had another on second - allowed a huge gap between him and the bag and was picked off to end the inning, killing a possible rally. - My Willy went 0-6. - ESPN's audio and video connections both screwed up several times during the broadcast, and two home runs were actually announced in Spanish, when we were transferred to ESPN Deportes. (I'll admit, this would've been funny to look back on if we'd won.) - When ESPN's connections were intact, viewers were treated to Joe Morgan. I'll take my regular announcers over him ANY day. - Brad Lidge allowed a 2-run double to blow the game. Despite getting Pujols out (which was a huge hurdle), he still struggled. I want to know what happened to Lights Out Lidge. - We made two comebacks, only to lose it in 12 innings. Yes, I would love some cheese with my whine. But, it's the All-Star Break. I've got two guys to cheer on, and three days to recover. Could be just the right form of therapy.

I gotta imagine the new ones are similar to the old ones - sci-fi-ish story with a twist at the end. Forest Whitaker does the Rod Serling-lead ins/lead outs. I think they even remade or updated a couple of classic episodes. Let me know if you recognize these stories: - One has to deal with a new family in a neighborhood. A blackout in all the houses except the new family's causes all the other neighbors to suspect that the new family were terrorists and the neighbors subsequently riot. - A second one I believe is an update. It deals with an evil man's ability to make people he doesn't like to disappear. I love stories with twists, so I enjoy Twilight Zone - even if the stories in the new ones are a bit hokey-ish.

Here is the main page for TZ on SciFi's web site. And here is a good episode guide for the show. CS, the first one you described sounds a lot like The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street. A mysterious power failure causes paranoid suburban residents to suspect one another of being disguised creatures from outer space. DM, is the one you're describing for the second one It's a Good Life? A six-year-old boy holds a town in terror with his powers to change or destroy anyone or anything at will. I think that's probably what CS was referring to, especially considering that the main page I linked to mentioned a modern-day sequel to that episode. ----- Alright, CS, you asked for it. Click here for SciFi's channel schedule, then scroll down a bit to search for "Twilight Zone." This will give you a listing of all the TZ episodes airing through August - the times are listed in Eastern on this, though. I usually just watch the marathons at New Year's and 4th of July, but maybe you can tape some of the upcoming episodes and give them a try. It's a shame SciFi shows them so late. Here are some of my favorites - hopefully you can catch some of them... The After Hours Nick of Time A Most Unusual Camera Twenty-Two A Hundred Yards Over the Rim Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up? The Obsolete Man The Hunt Little Girl Lost Nightmare at 20,000 Feet (Classic!) The Long Morrow Queen of the Nile The Masks You've got time to do this, right? I mean, it's not like you're getting married or something. Sorry if I overwhelmed you - I just wanted to let you know when the show comes on and suggest some good ones to catch, in case you get a chance to watch it sometime. Am I turning into Plaw?

The Astros have acquired Aubrey Huff from the Devil Rays! I was freaking out before the press conference, because some news reporters had actually speculated that we were getting Huff, but in exchange for Morgan Ensberg...despite his troubles of late, I didn't want to see him go. I know - it's business, not personal. But I get attached to my guys, and I have a hard time remembering that.

I bought the Season 2 set of "The Twilight Zone" a few months ago and both of these episodes are included in it. The best episode, though (IMO), is one in which Agnes Moorehead plays an old woman living alone in the country and her home is invaded by tiny spacemen from a flying saucer. It chronicles how she fights to defend herself. PURE TWILIGHT ZONE!! I remember watching these episodes when they were first run back in 1961. Here, now, some 45 years later they still hold up well. "TZ" was the best anthology series ever on tv!

Well, we're paying for it. I read recently that we've got the third highest payroll in baseball. I checked another source to verify this, and it showed us as 8th, but I believe that was without consideration of Roger's new contract - I'm sure that's what pushed us to third. Roger is worth paying for, as long as we can get him the run support for a win...but we haven't been doing that lately. All of his work has gone for naught, and it's basically a waste of money until the batters decide to pitch in with some offense...it doesn't matter who's on the mound if we're not helping him out. BUT, that's what this deal is supposed to take care of, so we'll see what happens. The Astros have always had a pretty nice payroll - enough to do what we need to do - but I would've never expected us to be in the top three. And when you look at our record, it's sort of depressing. Our owner made sure to thank the fans during the press conference, though, so he must be raking in the dough...if it works for him to shell out that much cash, it works for me.

No idea, SB! Anyone you know? For any of you gals, check out this clip of David Wright making an appearance on Letterman. SB, I'm not sure how you feel about him, considering he's a Met, but he's quite charming. I never before noticed how attractive he is (to me, at least...maybe it's the suit?), and he's really got a great personality. I love his smile.

I was actually laying in bed last night, running through every word I could think of that rhymes with Huff. (And nobody believes I have sleeping problems...) Huff is buff. Huff's got the stuff. Huff is tuff enuff. (Credit to the Fabulous Thunderbirds) ------- Morgan Ensberg was placed on the DL yesterday, after finally admitting to our manager that his shoulder has been killing him. There has been speculation about this for the longest, but Mo never allowed it to become a big issue - now that Huff's here to, for the most part, take over at third, it seems Ensberg was ready to come clean. I'm not so sure it's good to try to play through the pain if it hurts the team, but I think Morgan figured there weren't many other options. For that reason, I see him as such a strong and selfless player...God knows how long he's had to deal with the injury itself, not to mention tons of criticism regarding his "slump." To stick with it and play through all of his struggles must've taken a lot, and I have such respect for him for that.

There you go, Beth! I'd seen it was on earlier and flipped to it, almost allowing Will to tempt me from my Astros - now that the game's over, I can enjoy him and Jack completely. I can't believe how many good movies are on TV tonight - Major League, Pirates, Willy Wonka (original), Silence of the Lambs, Austin Powers, Goodfellas, and Joe Dirt. Good movie night!

Yankees, Yankees, Yankees!! Three in a row and the last six out of seven!! And Mariano Rivera got his 400th save yesterday! And Jeter hit a home run, the first in a month!! What a fantastic weekend for my boys! And against the White Sox no less!! They are now a half game out of first place!! Keep your fingers crossed, Ladies!!
Gina, I understand that you have sleeping problems, and I was wondering if you have ever tried Melatonin. My pediatrician recommended it for my daughter, who is just a bit younger than you, and has trouble falling asleep. It seems that young people have a different sleep/wake cycle, which is why they want to stay up until 3:00 am and sleep until noon. Trying to get her up for school at 6:30 in the morning was a constant struggle. Then we tried 1.5 mg. of Melatonin before bed and it's a thousand times better. No side effects, and it's completely natural.
