I thought of you when I was in Kohl's the other day, Gina. I bought Mr. Babe a pair of Blues Brothers boxers with the quote "It's a 106 miles to Chicago...". They're adorable.

Funny you mention that - my cousin just gave me a pair of soft pajama-type pants with the Blues Brothers on them, also from Kohl's!

Where is all of this popularity in marketing coming from, all of a sudden? As long as they're at it, I wonder if I could request a pair of Godfather socks...

I had my little cousin over yesterday (who loves the Blues Brothers), so I gave him an overload by wearing the pants with the shirt I'd previously had - then, he sees the movie poster on the wall...he's obsessed with it.

Mig, I'll take a dozen!!

Gina, I actually saw the pants in Kohl's and was going to get them, but the boxers had the boys AND the quote. That's Mr. Babe's favorite quote from the movie, so I had to get them. He'll say it all the time when we're on a road trip. He will also hum Girl from Ipanema the minute we get in an elevator.

I love how Blues Brothers (not to mention GF) quotes come up in everyday situations all the time.

I just hate when I'm reminded of one, but nobody is around to recognize it.

I saw this picture on MLB.com regarding David Wright's new contract with the Mets, and I had to share it...

I can't think of a good joke for the "Play button," so just ignore that...

I've finished watching my West Wing Season 1 DVD. Now I'm having convulsions again..hahaha. I had forgotten the Season 1 Finale was the shootout. I was all excited thinking about watching the next show, when I remembered that was it. I have to buy Season 2 now. I remember someone saying they couldn't make out who it was that pushed C.J. to the ground. I watched it and it looked like Sam clear as day to me.

Yes, it was definitely Sam. By the way, my library now has the West Wing on DVD. I borrowed Season 3, since I didn't feel like buying it (too much Bruno Gianelli), and just watched what the episodes I wanted. Actually, I'm not allowed to borrow anything from the library and have to make my daughter take them out for me.

You do need to get Season 2, though. That has the two-part season premiere, plus all the really good Ainsley Hayes episodes (Sam's getting his ass kicked by a girl! Ginger, get the popcorn!).

Gina, definitely a cutie, isn't he?? WOW!! Of course, not as cute as my Jeter, but still...

I love that quick scene with Toby when they're watching Josh get his ass kicked by a girl. How sadly ironic that the episode on Bravo tonight was where Toby admits he's the leak and gets fired. So sad seeing him led away by that guard.

I hated the way that they treated Toby in the last season, although I heard that Richard Schiff was done and wanted to move on. I think that one of the best scenes in the last season was the one between Charlie and Toby at Leo's wake, when Charlie offered to stay behind and walk out with Toby. Toby always reminded me of Eeyore, so sad.

I heard the treatment of Toby was the reason Richard wanted to leave the show. He was probably thinking, "Look how they massacred my boy". For some reason I always feel better knowing an actor wanted to leave the show rather then being fired. It eases the pain a little in a way.

As great a dramatic actor as Richard Schiff is, Toby could always bring the funny. "I don't know, Josh, but while we're looking, can you tell us about the President's secret plan to fight inflation?". And I don't remember what episode it's from, but remember when Sam refers to the two of them as Batman and Robin? The look of utter disgust and dismissal on Toby's face was priceless!!

Oh, and back to Sports. The Yankees are in first place.

Hey ladies! I missed you guys... It's always so nice to come back after a long vacation. Damn, I've got a month's worth of pages to catch up on all over the BB! I think I'm not gonna read all of it, I'll just pick up here and assume I didn't miss much. :p By the way, I think we've talked about him before, but my, that David Wright looks good!

Zia!!!

I was so happy to see your name next to this thread - it's great to have you back!

I feel like we've missed a whole summer of chatting about cute ballplayers!

Your comment in BBC was hilarious...though also a bit scary.

Thanks guys! I went... oh geez, all over the place.

First I went to NYC for my dad, and that wasn't much of a vacation, I didn't even really get to go to too many places or see anything. My cousin and two of his friends tagged along, and we went to a couple of cool restaurants and clubs at night, but during the day I was busy, so they did more sightseeing than I did. Plus we were only there for 3 nights. I got a taste of it though, and I'll have to go back for a longer time, next time.

Then I came back home for a few days, and then I went to Spain with some more cousins for two weeks. I did that last year too, and this year was supposed to be Italy, but it didn't work out.

Zia, You were very missed, but it sounds like you had a wonderful time. Next time you're in NYC, let me know when you're here. I would love to meet up with you.

What did you miss?? Chatter about the West Wing, baseball and the Blues Brothers, Mig's private dance troupe, Jeter, Rocket, Willly...Hmmmmm.....it must seem like you never left.

Andy Pettitte led my boys to a win, not only with a great pitching performance, but also with his first career homer!

And this came a mere two days after Roy Oswalt hit his first career home run!

With the win today, along with the Reds' loss (thank you, Phillies), we've moved up another game and are now 1 1/2 games back in the WC race!!!

Nice job for your boys, Gina. The Yankees lost tow in a row, unfortunately, and the Red Sox won two in a row. That means that the Yankees are still in first place, but only by one game.

Thanks SB! Hopefully next time I come over there, I'll have more time, and know farther ahead in advance. But I'd love to meet you, too! And thanks for the lowdown on what I missed... I see nothing's changed. Which is great, that's how I like you guys.

Gi, I see you picked my boys in BBC... nice job. I hope they gave you some good points-- I don't know how they did fantasy-wise, I just know they won. They're going crazy, lately! I'm so proud.

SB, same thing's happened to us, now - two losses for my boys and two wins for the Reds. Hope things kick back into gear for both of our teams!

Zia, thank your Blue Heroes for me! That game was great for fantasy, but like I said in the BBC thread, it was also a wonderful game in general. Maddux is amazing, and Schmidt made it into quite the pitching duel. After attending the Astros game today and feeling really down in the dumps about the loss, it was fun to see your boys play so well. They've been just incredible lately!

Will do... I have to thank them for me, too. It's amazing how they're improving-- I'm remembering the games I went to earlier this season, and how they're doing now. Something's definitely happening during those practices, or something. Someone's doing something right.

Sorry about your boys, though. But they'll get it back, whatever "it" is.

Last night's game started around 7:00 PM and lasted until 12:45 AM...which I stayed up for. After a blown save in the ninth, we went into extra innings - we ended up losing in 18.

Rocket was in line for the win, but Lidge gave up a homer to allow a tie game - the batters went the next nine without scoring a single run, despite amazing relief pitching up until the very end.

I missed all of today's game because it was in the afternoon, but apparently the batters wasted a gem by Pettitte - they didn't get any runs, which sealed up the Cubs sweep of us.

Also, though a bit old news by now, it was announced that Preston Wilson was designated for assignment. I miss him.

Despite a valiant attempt at a comeback, my boys lost last night. It was too bad, as Boston beat Detroit.

Last night did mark a special occasion. We actually saw Octavio Dotel. After hearing about his rehab forEVER, we actually got to see him pitch in a GAME! However, he didn't even last an entire inning. He struck out the first batter, gave up a single, and walked the next batter. Joe Torre then had to send in Scott Proctor, who they had hoped to give a night off. Ah, well, it was his first outing, so he'd better improve!!

My daughter and I saw the movie World Trade Center today. It is a powerful, powerful, GREAT moview. I cried, my daughter cried like a baby. But it was a "good" kind of cry, if there is such a thing. It makes you feel good about humanity again.

I'm glad I saw it, and highly recommend it.
