My point exactly, Zia. It is SO nice, and maybe that he doesn't dance wouldn't stop me from dating him (being married would, but not the no dancing thing), but I'd make him learn.

DM, I do know what you mean. Summer in the city, the boys playing stickball in the street, and the girls would jump rope or play stoopball. When you saw the sun start to go down, that's when it was time to go home.

Absolutely...! I'm so glad you said that.

The scene always makes me want to cry, and I think it's because of this. I always think back to the evenings I'd spend with my brother and cousins out in our empty lot - it's such a nostalgic, feel-good part of the movie.

And then after you got home, the fun was trying to sneak back out I didn't live in the city but I still had to be in the house at sundown, and then I'd sneak back out after that. It was always 100x more fun to play after dark, even though you always played worse and couldn't see waht was going on lol

I agree. It's really not that hard, I've taught two of my cousins how to dance. You don't want to make your girlfriend/wife just sit there and watch other people dance during her favorite song at a wedding or something. A friend of mine dances with her brother-in-law at weddings because her husband doesn't know how. Boooo to that husband for not making an effort.

He better not find out!

Speaking of playing outside and getting called in when the sun goes down and sneaking back out... the most fun you can have is playing hide and seek outside in the dark. Oh, the memories.

Sandlot 2 is on....isn't it?

To me, Sandlot 2 is to Sandlot as Blues Brothers 2000 is to Blues Brothers...AND it doesn't even have good music! (Well, I wouldn't know...haven't allowed myself to see it.)

Blasphemy!!! I refuse to watch it.

We used to call that "manhunt", that was so much fun. Hiding in peoples backyards and all that lol. Night time is so much fun because just laying down in the grass becomes a hiding spot

Living in the Bronx, I didn't try to sneak out at night. NOT a good idea.

Zia, you're right. BOOOOOO on that husband for not making the effort. Especially for a slow dance. How hard is it? You can almost get away with just standing there and wobbling like a Weeble.

Sandlot 2 is the exact same storyline as Sandlot, just different people and it concerns a rocket instead of a ball. It has the same "ideas" on how to retrieve it and a lot of the same dialogue "a little bit further" "you got it" .

Its a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE movie

Just like Blues Brothers!!! Arghhh...

I hated it from the beginning, and I won't watch it - yet my dad has it on in the other room, just because I got him stuck on the first one when it was playing.

I love the line about PF Flyers, and I truly remember wearing those as a kid. My daughter told me some kid in her school was wearing a pair the other day. I guess after Converse made a comeback, so are PF Flyers.

That's the only reason I like the original.

Seriously! Last month my friends and I decided to play that at the beach, and the beach gets REALLY dark at night after it closes, because everyone has to put out the bonfires when they leave, and there's no light at all coming from the direction of the water, you know? It was so much fun, still, even in our twenties.

By the way, I'm watching the Lakers' Game 4 again, from back in April... Even if I was almost dead, this would get my blood rushing again... 12 seconds into the game, here's the commentary-- "You know, one of the keys of course for the Lakers has been how well they played defensively as they [interrupts himself] ALLEY oop to Kobe!!!" What an energetic game. I hadn't watched the whole thing on TV yet because I was at the game, so I'd Tivo'ed it, but I'd only watched the last quarter over and over again. I can't wait for the season to start again, have I mentioned that yet?

I used to wear all black while playing at night, and then I'd either lay on the grass, on the top of bushes or hide in the trees. Where do you hide at the beach?

Depends on the beach if I'm a beach person. Carribean? yes Mediterranean? yes Gulf Coast? yes Cape Cod? It SUCKS!

I think you did...will he be submitting a photo in them for the Ladies' Thread anytime soon?

Now you've got me wanting to watch that...and Willy Wonka's on tonight, after that sorry sequel. Seems my best skill is procrastinating, considering the homework I still need to do.

There are trees and stuff on the beach, there are a lot of big rocks and cliffs, big old palm tree stumps, stuff like that.

Yeah, kinda. I mean if there's nothing else to do, you know. I watch those Los Angeles Lakers, and if I happen to be in the downtown area, I'll stop in sometimes at Staples Center and take a seat... just for the nachos, you understand.
