I'm waiting word about Joe Torre. I'm afraid that Steinbrenner will do something stupid and try to fire him. Personally, I think that he's done a fine job. Show me another manager that could lose players like Matsui, Sheffield, Cano and Mussina to the DL and STILL usher the team to the division championship.

I think we all have instilled in us that mix of discomfort with, and admiration of, the attraction between our parents...

I've been hearing news about Torre, but I assume it's all been speculation so far. I certainly don't know the ins and outs of the Yankee club to judge whether or not he should stay, but from what I've seen, I don't think he did a bad job. Like you said, it was an accomplishment for NY to get as far as they did, when you consider the injuries they were faced with.

I didn't mention it here, but our pitching coach, Jim Hickey, was fired shortly after our season ended. I honestly don't understand the move. As far as I could tell, he seemed very well-respected and effective, and I don't see what good his departure will do.

Supposedly, Steinbrenner is going to fire him and hire Lou Piniella. Joe Torre has been an excellent manager, IMHO, but many fans feel it's time for a change. Also, ARod and Piniella supposedly have an excellent relationship. People are saying that ARod needs him to play well in NY. However, firing Torre, who is the only manager Jeter has ever known, would supposedly upset him, and would be interpreted as catering to ARod over Derek Jeter. There's also talk of trading ARod, but who would have him? Who could afford him????

I can't imagine the upset if Piniella was hired and no change was noticed in A-Rod.

Regardless of what happens, I'm sure Jeter will be a sport about it - and I know he'll continue to do as well as he has...I'd bet he has the ability to adapt easily to anything.

DS, the only photo you missed was one of JG standing outside the house that was used as the Corleone compound in The Godfather. The reason for the photo was that Gina sent me a conciliatory photo of Mr. Jeter in shorts (sigh, swoon), and we needed to do a comparison of his legs to Don Malta's.

However, I don't believe that Gina OR Zia have EVER posted photos. Given their tender ages, I can't say I blame them. I mean, have you MET some of the guys on this site???

I've met JG, SC, and DC. Fine upstanding individuals, just like me.

Ah, if only DS was around for the fun this past weekend. But he's still a newlywed, so we expect him to being paying extra special attention to his beautiful bride. Give it another 20 years like my marriage.

If I were around this weekend, I would have:

- Definitely made fun of JG's pasty legs
- Definitely would have talked about da Bears win
- Definitely would have said my sorries to our lady Yankee fans
- Definitely known why Gina called somebody a dunce
- Stuck up for my buddy DMC (he PM-ed me saying that you girls were mean to him... Oops, was I supposed to say that out loud, DMC?)

Man, what a busy weekend I would have had.

You missed some very important ones...

- Definitely would've congratulated SB on her fantasy pick having such sexy legs. (It's up to you whether you assume this "pick" to be Jeter or JG)

- Definitely would've apologized to Gina for making her feel like a Scrubs fan as she watches teams other than her home team in the playoffs.

- Definitely would've ribbed DM for admitting he's "not really a baseball fan."

- Definitely would've reminded Zia that the basketball season's coming up, since she doesn't appear very interested. Also, remind her to look out for a fellow named Sasha...she might have forgotten him.

And we were not mean to DM...well, within reason.
