*Wrestling is now going to be considered a sport*

Is anyone ordering this tonight? I don't have the $$$ to or else I would, I'm definitly buying the DVD when it comes out though.
Even though it will be somewhat wwe's version of ecw, Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer are having the most say on what goes on. For anyone who watched ecw religiously (for me it was 2am on saturday mornings) you know how cool this ppv is gonna be.

Does anyone actually take this seriously?

I did, when I was twelve.

it's not a matter of taking it seriously, it's still fun to watch.

and ecw is completly different than wwf, or wcw. When wwf would do something "crazy" it was run a guy over with an 18 wheeler..when ecw would do something crazy it would be stand on a balcony and jump through 8 tables. MUCH more entertaining.

I doubt this will resemble anything like an ECW event. It will probably be a bunch of lame WWE "hardcore matches", labeled as ECW.

actually no it's not

This is an update of the ppv:

It looks like it's the original match at this point as all the others have been cleared out. The Dudleys have a cheese grater in the ring and they take it too Tommy Dreamer who is busted wide open with skin hanging out as you can see. It's plain nasty.

We have a ladder in the ring now also, but men are just bleeding because Dreamer has the cheese grater and he is rubbing it on Bubba Ray.

They have burning tables, cheese graters (spelling) SABU (who wasn't even allowed to wrestle for a few years)

Either one of two things is going on right now
1) WWE allowed Paul Heyman and the wrestlers to run their show (doubt it)

2) the wrestlers are playing off the crowd and going all out.

TAZZ is returning..it sucks watching tazz do commentary when he could be the best in the business (except his size doesn't fit into wwe's plans).

speak of the devil:

Quote:
Chaos In The Ring

All of the wrestlers are out in the ring, but then Tazz's music hits! Tazz makes his way to the ring to his old school music. Angle and Tazz go at it. Tazz chokes out Angle, but there is action all over the ring. There probably 40-50 wrestlers in the ring right now. Bischoff joins the announce booth and starts mouthing off as all of this takes place. They talk about Edge saying that Matt Hardy isn't really the one he screwed (implying Lita). Austin gets back on the ring apron and grabs the mic as ECW Wrestlers have pretty much cleared out the WWE stars. He talks about Sandman and how big of a beer drinker he is.

Austin then calls out Mick Foley. He tells Foley to bring Bischoff to the ring and he does. All of the WWE Wrestlers just let Bischoff get dragged to the ring.

That's what I was thinking. There's a very homoerotic element to watching greased up muscly guys in tight underwear roll around with each other.

Wrestling will never be considered a sport. I even hate the term sports entertainment. It's just entertainment. Much like a soap except soaps like Eastenders or Sunset Beach are much more realistic. And that's saying something.

Saying something indeed.

I was in a shop the other day and saw Stone Cold Steve Austin has a book out. God, I couldn't help but pick it up and start reading, me being a massive fan when he was in his prime. Looking at one of the pictures, I noticed that, althought very muscly (clearly on some form of pills), he was actually verging on fat. Same with everyone else: Triple H, The Rock, they're all the same.

Man I used to love wrestling. It's simply ridiculous now.

Bring back Bret The Hitman Hart and I'll start watching it again. Maybe.

My favorite Ric Flair match is most definitely the 1992 Royal Rumble. Sure it might be not an actual "match" by definition, but it was so great when he won it and how he won it (over an hour in there)

If you get a chance, check out " The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection" DVD. It has some of his best matches in their entirety, including the 1992 RR.

I wouldn't mind picking it up just for that Rumble. I like Ric Flair but he's not in my top 3 or eventop 5. But I do respect the f*ck outta him. I heard a long time ago that WWE was going to make a 3-disc DVD for Bret 'The Hitman' Hart and I've been dying for it to come out!

Bleh, all of Ric Flair's matches end up being the same as the last. I respect the fact that he's a 16-time World Heavyweight Champion, and granted, some of his matches were great, and he's still running with the best of 'em. But his matches consist of *dirty move, fall on face, get thrown off top turnbuckle, dirty move, flip over the turnbuckle, fall on face, figure-four, win*. He's nowhere near the caliber of someone like Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, or Bruno Sammartino. But I still like him.

I gotta agree with Don Corleone on the matter of Ric Flair. A legend and all, but Brett Hart was right when he called him a "One-Routine Pony".

Speaking of which, I just watched my friend's VHS copy of last night's ECW ONE NIGHT STAND.(Before I go on, my same friend isn't a bootlegger. He just copies almost everything. Really, hes probably got all 15 years of SIMPSONS on VHS and on recordable DVD).

Considering how the WWE haven't fielded a good PPV in years it seems, this was a nice fun entertaining card that featured many of the great wrestlers who once upon time worked for scale at ECW.

I mean you had the incredibly underrated, yet terribly underused for years by the WWE, Lance Storm who had a real good technical match with fellow former ECW-fighter and entertaining "wrasslers" in the business that is Chris Jericho.

Then you had two "wrasslers" that themselves are terrible in technical or in mobile moves, but are best at being weapons-throwing brawlers in "Tommy Dreamer" and "The Sandman"(who besides surprising me in that hes still alive, he may have the most abnormally enlarged liver in the business after all his years of infamous drinking, on and off work). Dare I mention Sabu, the same man that once broke his neck?

A pretty good show it was that didn't make you feel cheated out of the $40 you have spent for it (like my friend). Too bad the WWE can't do this anymore.
