The sad thing is, such silly 'facts' are more interesting than the game right itself right now. Michael Owen comes North to dribble his way to ball-greedy madness. I'd have him on my team, but only if I was lazy. Watching him for England, he's too hesitant, scores only half (if that) of his chances, and never passes if he's in the box. But he's mighty fast. Bit like Bellamy, but better and not such an upstart. We'll see; it's going to be interesting... Mick

Yogi Barrabbas Owen is a Geordie Owen is a Geordie...
La-la-la! La-la-la! I don't want to piss on your parade mate but the Toon has spent many a pretty penny and seen little return on the pitch. Owen at £17m looks a bit steep. He scored well for Real in his limited appearances, but he was playing against Spanish defences and receiving quality support from midfield. I hope Mickey does well for England's sake, but I'd be surprised if the Shearer/Owen partnership is any less of a flop that Blackburn's Cole/Yorke partnership last season. On the plus side: Scott Parker was a very good investment -a hardy, dogged combative midfielder who can make a real impact.

I am a Toon fan & nobody has to tell me how much Newcastle have spent & how we have won nowt for centuries! I am critical of the board & manager as are many fans but at the end of the day we turn up & support the team cos thats we do & always have done! Owen might well be making a big mistake coming here but i'd rather see him up front than Shola Ameobi? And i have just watched 30,000 fans at St. James just there to "greet" him! He'll not get that passion anywhere else... course he'll probably not get too many medals either HAWAY THE LADS!

Nobody messes with Luque, okay? He, Valeron, and Tristan were the top-players of Deportivo La Coruna. A bit of an obscure team, but I'd rank them in the top-10 of Europe. 2 years ago they beat AC Milan with 4-0!!! That proves enough, I think. A shame their best players all left: Luque (Newcastle) Pandiani (Birmingham) Fran (quit) Mauro Silva (quit) Makaay (Bayern) The same happened with Porto, after they won the Cl: Paulo Ferreira, Carvalho, Mourinho (Chelsea) Luis Fabiano, Benny McCarthy (somewhere) Seitaridis, Costinha, Maniche (Dinano Moskou) Nuno Valente (Everton) Deco (Barça) and more left But Newcastle has a pretty good team now: Parker, Emre, and Luque on the mid-field, Boumsong and Babayaro in the defense, and Owen/Sheared have proofed what they can, I think.
See, we can act as smart as we want, but at the end of the day, we still follow a guy who fucks himself with kebab skewers.
