Game begins with the Mercedes Championship (Thursday, Jan 5th, 2006)

--Rosters are composed of 4 players (golfers) which must fit under the $50 million dollar salary cap.
--The lowest number of strokes credited to a golfer on your foursome will be your score for each hole.
--Players must be added to your team's roster one hour prior to the first tee off of the tournament.
--The PGA golf season will be divided into four Segments each consisting of eleven tournaments.
--Each Segment will include four tournaments which will count for double points.
--New this year: Entrants may assign one (1) player to a "bench" slot whereby a player will remain locked at the selected value. Player values are not totaled into the foursome cap of fifty (50) points when stored in the bench slot. Such designated players also do not accrue points during any day of the tournament.

PS - The picking process is a bit different this year, and for some reason I'm not seeing all the available players once I had made my picks. One I picked from their list now says they're not playing. :rolleyes: Hopefully that'll clear up before Thursday!

Ok, I'm in. Don't know much about golf, but I'm in. Maybe I should make my son do the picks for me.

Can someone familiar with this game clarify something for me?

Am I correct in assuming that the player list that I picked from were all players that are participating in the first golf tournament that is listed? I noticed that there are some players, like Tiger Woods, missing from the list. Does that mean that Woods is NOT playing in this tournament?

And after this tourny is over, does my roster revert back to no players? And does a new list of participating players come out to pick from for the next tournament?

Only scheduled players will appear on the list. Of course, you always run the risk of a DNS (Did Not Show), but that's maybe 0-2 guys/week.

Next week, your picks from this week will remain, but you'll be notified if someone isn't playing and you'll have to replace them. Player values will also in/decrease each week.

DC- the list is people who signed up for that tournament. It happened a good number of times last year that even though the players signed up they didn't show up.
Your roster stays as is, it is up to you to change the players as you see fit, the amount you "paid" for the players are locked. In other words if you get Singh for 15.4 and you keep him the whole year his value can rise to 19 but it still only counts as 15.4 towards your 50 point total. Once you sell him and try to get him back youd buy him at the 19 point value.
Each week a new list will come out, and usually if one of your players is not in the next tournament his name will have a * next to it.

EDIT: Found it, SC. After you make your picks and submit them, there's a button to "edit entry settings"

It's good when you know the players.

When I'm dealing with a bunch of guys I never heard of, and cant' get even one that I have.....

I got four guys with "No Photo Available"

That can't be good.....

I think we should get bonus points if our guy doesn't have a picture. :p

This contest is a real crapshoot. You can get a guy who has a hot week. And since it is "best ball", you can have the winner of the tournament and he may not even contribute to your score. But those Uber Points....

That's odd - it wasn't like that a few minutes ago. But alas, the first twosome just completed the first hole (according to pgatour.com), so those are bogus numbers.... but the tourny has started: XM is to air the tourny starting at 5pm ET

No. I had picked a while ago, but just forgot to join the group. My score shows two players having completed their rounds. :rolleyes:

IMO, it's no more silly than putting on the NASCAR channel, and listening to people turning left for 500 miles.

Nah...golf on the radio is much sillier than car racing on TV.

Now, if you wanna talk about Nascar on the radio.....

When I wrote my golf-on-the-radio comment, BTW, I had been reminded of the Woody Allen film, Radio Days, set during WW II, when radio was the King of the American living room.

There's a scene in which a woman is listening to a ventriloquist and laughing hysterically.
