REAL baseball, for me, starts on Monday... since not only is that when the Yankees start, but..... I will be watching The Sopranos at 9PM ET Sunday, not the Indians/Sox game...

I'll be at the Nets game tonight.

But if I woulda realized that tonight was opening night of what promises to be the biggest and bestest fantasy baseball season (don't care about the real season anymore) in Gangster BB history....

Good ol' ESPN ( ) is showing tomorrow's matchups with today's date still - I'm too afraid to change it yet!

It seems journalists have just as much fun as we do... I was just reading about Yankees pitching:

Quote:
...[In 2005] Wang was up and down, and Pavano was down and out...
But at least they offered some advice:

Quote:
...pass on Wang and Pavano until it's clear how they will fare.

That's probably Plaw, in his part-time writing job...

...except either you or DM must've given him tips on what to write about. :p

I can't believe what one of my friends did in our group. I set "default" Opening Day lineups for everyone (just to get them started) and told them they could change it if they wanted. He changed his, but he apparently wasn't clear on the concept that the players have to actually be playing...only one of his guys is in today's game.

That's what they get for not listening, when I offered tons of advice. This stupid pool will be a fight for the best of the worst.

Gina - Have fun with that!

Man, I'm so out of synch w/ how I set my BBC lineups! Maybe I should read the manual I wrote last season!

I think I'll put you in charge, Geoff. :p

Have you set your lineup for tomorrow, yet? It's still showing today's date, but I don't want to put it off too much longer.

I've set mine for tomorrow. When you hit the edit button on any player it gives you tomorrow's lineup.

I did mine, too, regardless of the date displayed. Spent hours somehow, and for a shitty-ass lineup probably! It's tough in the first couple weeks to see how people do...

Ah, the first baseball game of the season to interrupt dinner conversation and annoy my family.

But here comes the rain.

I can't even remember whatever "strategy" I used to have last year in setting my roster. Didn't they used to post the starters when you choose your lineup? Is that coming back?

I've got a question for the Commish, since I'm "Commish" of my group - one of my friends got 37 points yesterday, which showed up under his lineup, but in the standings, it shows him as having zero points. This is probably typical ESPN, as I think this kind of thing has happened with us before, but I'm wondering how I should handle it? He's in the pool, so I obviously don't want to cheat him out of those points. Is there any chance of it fixing, or do I just always add 37 to his total?

I guess it is better than last year's strategy -- playing whenever you felt like it. :p

Geoff, I've never played this game before. Is it best to set your lineup for the day the MORNING of the games? Or can I set my lineup for the next day, today, even though some of my players are still playing games today?

Well, your lineup locks at 3AM, so you CAN'T wait until tomorrow morning!

What I usually do is complete tomorrow's lineup first thing in the day (so I don't forget), and then before bed I do a quick check for injuries and rainouts...

Enjoying the game so far, DC?

We've still got to turn you into an addict. Well, I guess my job can be to turn BBC newcomers into addicts, but Geoff's and DM's job is to turn you to the "dark side" with their double entendre jokes. I made a huge mistake in developing a crush on a guy named Willy.

Consider this your warning.

P.S. You'll also be treated to a variety of Stratus-factory Trish photos by DM - I think I can speak for all of us here when I say that it's the highlight of the evening.

Oh, and I thought the agreement was that Zia was going to cover for me...I take no part in any "entertainment" here. :p

DM, well, each photo is different. But you're right, the photo subject (as in, which part of her body) is never a variety.

Konerko's on my Shit List, after screwing me over two days in a row in two different games! ...but, Thome's my homey today, too.

Gina hit 3000 - Congrats! Man, you'd think it'd be more like 6000 by now, after a years' worth of Willy talk alone!

I was just cursing Konerko not more than five minutes ago - at least someone else shares the pain. :p

God, you guys would go nuts if you saw my group. More than half of the people have DNP'ed at least once, so far. But I am loving the trash talk at school - I made an Excel sheet, and I've been waking up early to record the points on it, so we all compare when we get to class.

Thanks for the congrats! Man, it wouldn't matter what kind of interesting, thought-provoking, inspiring posts I might ever make - I'll always be remembered for my Willy.
