Not that much fantasy sports talk, and no real trash talking......

But after a few bottles of wine had been emptied,

JG admitted that he stinks at fantasy baseball and that his first place standing in the Yahoo game was due strictly to luck......

DMC admitted that he was sorry that he wasn't in either game, but vowed to play the salary cap game the second half and promised to kick ass.....

DC admitted that he didn't know the first thing about baseball, and uses a dart board that he has at home to pick his pitching staff every day, which was why he had to wait until he got home to pick his team the other day when his internet connection was down.....

SC admitted that he started three days late on purpose, so he would have a built in excuse for his usual poor showing.....

and

CC admitted that she doesn't care where she finishes in the final standings as long as she winds up as the "Top Chick".....

Well obviously you are the one who had too much wine last night. I didn't have one drink, and actually never said anything of the sort. Did you hear me say those things between the 4th and 5th glass of wine that you had, or the 7yh and 8th?

Hey, you forgot to tell us what you said after a few wines!

Did your ten minute speech go anything like this? :p

Plaw: You talk about extending the deadline -- is extending the deadline gonna bring more points back to you? Or more points to me? I forgo the opportunity to score more points -- But I have selfish reasons. My favorite player, TM -- was forced to cancel a vacation, --

(then, as he stands, with SC's assistance)

-- because of this fantasy baseball business. All right -- and I have to make arrangements to make him take a vacation -- cleared of all fantasy baseball stress. But I'm a superstitious man -- and if some unlucky accident should befall him -- if he should oversleep and be over the cap -- or if he -- should miss a doubleheader -- or if his cable modem is struck by a bolt of lightning -- then I'm going to blame some of the people in this room. And that, I do not forgive.

(then)

But -- that aside -- let me say that I swear -- on Crabcake's pom poms -- that I will not be the one to break the peace that we have made here today...

[Plaw and SC move toward the head of the table where JG is sitting.

DC does the same. Plaw and DC embrace as the others applaud]

The Slippery Slope
Jun. 9, 2006 - 9:38 am et

Ken Griffey (quadriceps) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Friday.

Griffey sat out Wednesday and Thursday due to the sore quad. "Junior was a lot better (Thursday)," trainer Mark Mann said. "He thinks with this extra day he'll get over the hump. He has very minimal soreness."

Source: Cincinnati Enquirer

After his big night on Tuesday, I had him in my lineup for Wednesday, when he sat.

When I did my Thursday team (on Wednesday afternoon) I remember he had good lifetime numbers against whoever was pitching, so I put him in there for Thursday (before i knew he was gonna sit Wednesday night).

When he didn't play Wednesday night, I "tweaked" him out of my Thursday lineup late Wednesday, and substituted Tori Hunter in CF.

Unfortunately, the Minnesota manager decided that Thursday night would be a good night to gaive Hunter his first day off of the season, despite his good lifetime numbers against whoever he was supposed to be facing.

As Casey Stengal - The Old Professor - used to say, "You could look it up."

Someday I'll figure all of this out.....

Hey, CS, I think I mentioned that I'd be attending an Astros game when the Scrubs were in town...

Please tell me these aren't your friends. :p

Talk about adding insult to injury - they definitely didn't make the loss any easier to deal with.

But that game did spark a four game win streak to follow!

Unless you took that picture an hour before the game started, it doesn't look like there was much of a crowd.

Yeah, I took it a while before the game started - the stadium fills up a little more than that, thankfully.

Of course, it looked almost as bad as that by the end of the game. I guess people lose faith when it's 8-0? (I, for one, refuse to leave early.)

You 'doubleheader heads' really should check weather forecasts before games. :p

I checked.

But the way I figured it was that DB was gonna check also, and after he did he would figure that even though there was a chance of a rainout, he would still go with all DH players because he wouldn't take the chance that they would would play both games and I would have all DH players and he wouldn't.

So, figuring that he was gonna take all DH players, I figured that I could afford to as well, since if they did play both games I couldn't afford to not have all DH players if he did, and if they didn't play both games, I wouldn't be any worse off by having all DH players, since he would too.

I don't know if I explained that very well.....

You're beginning to sound more and more like a combination of Norm Crosby and Professor Irwin Corey. Stop with the double-talk and post the results already.

P.S. :p

PL, can you explain why you picked Cliff Floyd today?

I actually hope you know something I don't, because I don't expect him back soon.
