Considering that I had the best offense yesterday also, I expect to gain a lot of points.

But I'll admit -- Florida's 38 was a nice surprise.

I won't cackle (cock-a-doodle-doo) or crow (woo-hoo) about my 94 (not 91) yesterday, one of the highest scores ever on a non-doubleheader day.

What is it that MC says about the blind squirrel occasionally finding the nut?

Might be time to update the race for the all-important Overall Points Championship.

UPDATE: All Important Overall Points Championship Standings

Code:

JL 4583 312 4895 Maybe this will provide motivation
TM 4548 305 4853 Says first half was NO fluke
JG 4368 341 4709 Still has a shot
DB 4678 0 4678 Getting married? That's no excuse

GG 3717 266 3983 Stick to playing those Texas kids
SC 3642 311 3953 Started 3 days late
DC 3881 0 3881 "Cruises" into last place
Still a fairly wide-open race.

Bethie and I got 90 and 92 pts, respectively, on Tuesday - not significantly less than what you're gloating about. While your 94 is the overall daily high, you have to admit that is pretty LOW overall in this game where someone scores over 100 pts practically every day. :p

P.S. It sure would be nice if some little birdie could help "officialize" the scores in these games for me in the AM like the good ol' days...

P.P.S. ESPN has been awful lately with the unofficial scores - I've never noticed it this bad where almost everyone's scores are different the next day. Has it been like this all year long??

I guess I stumped everyone with the Mariners PS pick against the big bats of the Red Sox then.

of course, I had 5 minutes to pick a team before going my way out of town and I picked the only one who was 'most' un-like Bedard because I wouldn't be able to see how both of them did. it would be great luck if the Baltimorons ( ) hadn't screwed up the whole thing yesterday.

I would hardly say that someone scores over 100 "practically every day".

It's happened five times in nine days since the break, but there doesn't seem to be a way to go back and look at past days and weeks.

I'll be happy to keep track going forward, though, and I'd be very surprised if the average is more than 100, or if someone scores 100 or more more than half the time, much less practically every day.

Somewhere in the 90's would seem to be about the average, so no, I wouldn't say that 94 is a LOW score - nor is 90 or 92 - however on a day that you and someone else both get such a high score, that suggests to me that it was somewhat easier to do.

More importantly, BTW, I just noticed that my 94 was tied - if not alone - as the highest score of the day in the whole game.

That's something I don't think any of us have ever done before, if I'm not mistaken.

And lemme gloat a little - God knopws I've had precious little to gloat about this season.

(The only reason I didn't update and "officialize" the scores this morning is 'cuz if I did you would've made a comment about me suddenly taking an interest again just because I had a good day.

Damned if I do and damned if I don't, I guess..... )

Okay, I'll let you gloat for now. :p

But let's see... since the break, 5 of 9 days were 100+ days. I can't seem to find the data from the first half, but I notice practically every day someone gets 100+ points... and more than 5 out of 9 days it seems...

P.S. I might as well stick a whine in here..... half my freakin' offense isn't even playing today!

I'll track those 100+ days for a while and we'll see.

As I said 5/9 is hardly "practically every day".

[gloat alert]

BTW (again), the day you and CC scored in the 90s, the high for the day was 116.

The day I scored 94, the high for the day was, um, 94

[/gloat alert]

Do I root for Schmidt tonite or not?

I guess I have a little cushion in pitching today over you and CC in this game, so I thik I'd like to see about a 10 or so from the Giants PS, with maybe a 0-5 for Schmidt.

Here'ya go, JG.

It's Sunday; Take the day off from Salary Cap.

I'll "officialize" the scores for you (several 1 pont additions).

And here, I'll even save you trouble of commenting:

I, plawrence, confess. I'm suddenly considerably more interested in the game because I'm doing better after a long slump and I'm ahead in the all-important Overall Points Championship race.

Saturday
Code:

CC 435 DET (-09) 08 436 Super longshot faltering?
PL 381 SFO (14) 45 426 Claims he's interested again
TM^305 SEA (27) 76 381 Looks like 1st half was no fluke
JL^312 SFO (14) 32 344 Expect a hot streak at some point
SC^311 SDG (13) 27 338 Rarely this high in standings so late
JG 341 TAM (-30) -6 335 Down there with the also-rans
AL 276 FLA (32) 41 317 Gotta change your PS every day
GG 266 DET (-09) 15 281 Summer fun in way of fantasy sports?
DM 230 SFO (14) 47 277 Prediction: Will finish 5th if he plays hard
Maybe even as high as 4th

Today's probable pitchers:

Minn: Liriano; 11-2, 194 (PL, JL, SC, GG, DM)
LAA: Weaver; 6-0, 1.12 (CC, JG, TM)
Fla: Willis; 6-7, 3.94 (AL)

You know, JG.....

I don't think anyone ever had back-to-back scores of -30 in pitching before.

That ain't easy to do.

A'int that the truth. I gotta tell ya it effects me, too. I'm REALLY into the Draft game now that I'm hovering near the top, and this one just becomes more and more tedious and frustrating....

Sadly, no. I wish I had a nice excuse like that, but watching the Astros and setting my lineup are the highlights of my day.

Considering how the Astros have been playing...

And considering how I've been playing...

So much for my "Mets vs the lowest scoring team at Shea = definite positive points".

Trachsel is Trachsel, winning streak and all.

I doubt if he had a 20+ FP game all season.

And it's not like the Mets were really cheap, either.

Look what he cost you in cap points.

So... how "well" do you want Lackey to do today? :p [/b][/quote]Well, since I had complete confidence that I would eventually pass CC regardless of what happened tonite, and since all of those right behind me had Lackey also (or Trachsel), I was rooting for him to get bombed.

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I've been seeing on ESPN lately where they have Dominos tournaments televised and was wondering when the fantasy league was gonna be started. :p
