Once Michael laid eyes on Appolonia, Kay was history.
Had Appolonia not been killed and returned to America as Michael's wife, Kay would have remained history.
As it was, it took him a year (longer than that I think) to even contact Kay after returning home. You really think he may have sought her out if he already had Appolonia with him?
