Luckily DB, no one asked you for your input.

And my "cute" team was beating yours until yesterday.

And I do love my Lakers, but unfortunately some of them aren't staying on my team for too long. Ronny's my favorite new acquisition though... Cute, funny, sweet, adorable accent, AND he kicks ass! I hope he keeps playing this well.

And what's this "cute" in quotations?! Half of them-- okay, maybe not half, but like 6 of them-- are the hottest players in the league! Don't be jealous just because you're not rockin' any hot foreign players!

Although I know you don't care about looks-- you've got Nash and Kaman, two of the ugliest people to ever play ball. Or walk the earth. It's nice to see you don't discriminate against ugly people though, it warms the cockles of my heart. And yes, I said "cockles".

No but really, I didn't pick anyone based only on looks. They're good players. I just got lucky in the hotness department. And if I don't forget to set my team again like I did today ( ), I'll be back up in 1st in no time.

In the words of Bugs Bunny, "Now that's funny!" Although if Shaq looked at you funny, you'd probably get injured too. I also liked the "psycho" comment... true, but he's good.

Zia said "cockles."

[insert Beavis and Butthead laughs]

No, I didn't say your team wasn't good, Zia. You've got some talent there - and I'm not talking about cuteness.

Is my team really ugly??

PG Steve Nash - Canadian
PG Brandon Roy - Rookie
SG Kevin Martin - Sleeper candidate
SG Luol Deng - Daaaaa Bulls
SF LeBron James - King James
SF Grant Hill - Old
PF Dwight Howard - Young
PF Mehmet Okur - He's my team's Euro
C Yao Ming - Houston Rocket so Gina roots for me
C Chris Kaman - Kinda looks like Sasquatch
Util Richard Hamilton - Phantom of the NBA
Util Tayshaun Prince - Freakishly long arms
BN Quentin Richardson - Dated Brandi
BN Jason Richardson - He can sky
BN Raymond Felton - Up and coming PG
BN Drew Gooden - Kansas product
BN Josh Childress - Beware the 'Fro

You know, we actually have a lot of parallels on our teams Zia.

HEY!!! After what's been going on in New York I guess I could "decide I'm a woman" and join in these chats! I wonder how the women of New York, specifically the Yankees fans, feel about a Man walking into the stadium bathroom because it's "fair" to Men (or Women) who want to change sexes.

Gotta admit it, DM. He got you good.

Zia, I'm proud of you - looks like you've made it both business and personal, combining both talent and good looks to create the perfect fantasy team!

I went to the opera last night with my Humanities class, and we saw Don Giovanni. I loved it! I enjoyed it much more than I ever would've expected to. We had a very good deal on the tickets since it was a school event, and it was well worth it. It had a great mix of comedy and drama, and the characters were very memorable. Somehow I managed to fall for the villain - Don Giovanni was to die for! Not sure if it was the actor or the character, though...

(Mariusz Kwiecien)

Maybe a mix of both.

And I'd just watched Moonstruck this past weekend, so this was the perfect time to see an opera!

Gina, I love the opera. My dad was a big opera buff, and it was a thrill when we used to get all dressed up and go to Manhattan, to the Metropolitan Opera House. I loved watching the chandeliers go up to the ceiling, just like Cher in Moonstruck.

So glad that you enjoyed it, and that you found a diversion now that Willy can't come out to play.

SB, do you recall any specific operas you saw? I'm completely out of the loop as far as what's what in the opera world, but I now hold an appreciation of it.

I know I also saw Rigoletto in middle school, but I hardly remember it...

Well, Giovanni was a temporary distraction, yes - but I'm afraid I've lost him, as well. These short offseason flings just don't cut it, do they?

And just what are we supposed to do with ourselves until the spring?

Gina, I would recommend another Mozart classic - Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro)... It's my favorite opera.

Gina, These are the operas I've seen:

La Traviata
La Boheme
Madame Butterfly
Cavelleria Rusticana/Pagliacci (always performed together, like the operatic equivalent of a double-header ;))
Rigoletto

I would have to put Madame Butterfly, La Traviata and Cavelleria Rusticana (which is the opera Anthony performs in GF3)with Pagliacci in my Top Three. Those are in no particular order, btw. Although Rigoletto has some wonderful arias, I always found it a bit depressing, and I always considered La Boheme sort of a ripoff of La Traviata. Here's something to keep in mind - the girl almost always dies!!

Thanks for sharing your favorites, SB and CS - I'd love to go again, but I think it'd take another "student price" to convince me to. My mom was telling me about a woman she and my dad know who works at Houston Grand Opera. She said that the workers used to get free merchandise (such as t-shirts) for every show that was performed there. They decided to stop doing that, but in place of it, they're letting the workers watch a showing of every opera that is played there for free! That's such a nice thing to do on HGO's part, and it must be wonderful to experience such a variety of shows.

SB, your mention of Pagliacci reminds me of the Seinfeld episode about it - something about Kramer trying to scalp the tickets on the street, and I believe it was Crazy Joe Davola who dressed up like the clown in the show. Also, Maynard played a song called Pagliacci, so I wonder if that had anything to do with the opera? Perhaps I need to actually go see it instead of relying on Seinfeld and MF for my knowledge of it.

Mig, love the Blues Brothers! How cute.

Cool, Mig. I wish I could like football. It would make the baseball off-season certainly pass more quickly.

Gina, You should see Pagliacci. Mr. Babe even liked it, and he never envisioned himself liking opera. He bought the tickets one year for our anniversary. He was not thrilled about going, but ended up really enjoying himself.

Chapter 3: Sasha... No More

It took all she can muster. As Zia fumbled around with her mouse, she remembered the happy times - how she drafted him in the 17th and final round. Back then, she was brimming with hopefulness on the upcoming season. "He'll play well," she thought. "This will be his breakout year."

Click

As the sound broke and bounced around the walls, the effect of it reverberated around Zia's head. Like the treacherous tremble of a tolling train, the screech of the click gave her a slight headache.

"It was for the best," she thought. "It's better this way."

With sadness and trepidation, Zia looked at her computer screen.

"We'll always have the Staples Center."

DS,

Are you a Bears fan? If so congrats on the win over the Giants. If not never mind . I only seen the 2nd half of the game. The play I liked was when Devin Hester got the TD from that missed field goal. I'm sure my daughter Becky is not a happy camper this morning Have a good one!

Yes, I'm a Bears fan!

They really have some work to do, especially on offense, but if the defense keeps playing the way it has, they have a shot to make it far in the playoffs.

Love it, CS. You're such an entertaining writer.

Zia, it was for the best. The worst mistake a fantasy player can make is letting it get personal (Oh, do I ever know it!), and you avoided that.

SB, any Yankee news? Astros resigned Biggio for next season, who's hoping to reach the 3000 hit mark! Otherwise, nothing yet, but there's supposedly big plans in the making...
