His brief philosophical statement illustrated his belief in heeding nature's call.

Here's a hint for you dontomasso: He was at the dinner at Louis' Restaurant.

And for Senza Mama's clue (Did she say anything?): I've been thinking about my original guess (Kathryn, one of Sonny's daughters), and I think she was TOO minor a character to be the answer. Your reference to "better half" could be a spouse, and "identical" could mean identical in personality instead of appearance. Also, "Did she say anything?" could mean that she had kept a secret and not that she was completely mute.

Hmmm... you said she was in all three GFs. Was it Kay?

Then again there is Sonny's rather crude comment about what he did not want to if they failed to plant the gun.

Bingo!

Then again there is Sonny's rather crude comment about what he did not want to if they failed to plant the gun.

Another one I forgot! Gee, we could have started a whole thread on this theme: "Count the Peeing references in GF." grin

So I guess we're waiting for Senza Mama ("Did she say anything??") and MM Tom Hagen {"He thought every day was Halloween") to tell us if our guesses were correct.

(I have to agree with Don Corleonne on the Halloween one -- Johnny Ola and those pumpkin-coloured suits!)

In the meantime, dontomasso, I guess it's your turn -- if you're still on the boards -- since you made the most recent correct guess. smile

Sorry, none of the guesses for mine were correct. Here's a hint, go with the "dressing up" angle to find the answer.

If so...
He was weaseled out of dancing to his own tune.

Did she say anything?? Actually the answer to this question is yes, but she has one or two lines in three films

So we have a minor character who's in all three films, has very little dialogue and INITIALLY she's identical to her better half

Tom: "They shot Sonny on the causeway...he's dead."
Michael: "Turnbull is a good man"
Shane MacGowan: "It was Christmas Eve babe, in the drunk tank"

OK it's Theresa Hagen...TH the same initials as Tom

Very clever, Senza Mama. I was racking my brains and Theresa Hagen never occurred to me -- I guess because I didn't realize she was in GF3. (GF3 is not my forte wink .)

And now to MM Tom Hagen's clue: This person fancied themselves an occupation counselor for the entertainment industry.

MMTH, your hints certainly keep me on my toes; you remember all the details wink . I'm going to say Vito because of his influence in that regard: getting Johnny Fontane out of his big band contract, then into a movie contract, etc.

If that's right...
You could call him a real "spin" doctor.

Sadly, thats not right.

I purposely used the word "fancied" to imply that they dont really have any powers in this area, as opposed to Vito, who can actually do things like this.

A good guess though.

The question stands...

This person fancied themselves an occupation counselor for the entertainment industry.

Is it Jack Woltz? (because he trained that starlet to be an actress for his studio and she ditched him, and also because he said Johnny Fontane would never be in his film but that turned out to be wrong too).

If Woltz is right, here's this one again:
You could call him a real "spin" doctor.

Is it Michael in GF3? (trying to convince Anthony not to be an opera singer)

Hint for mine: It's not in GF3 (don't know how much of a hint that is, but I've got to start somewhere) grin

Mine is not Mike either.

Could yours be Tessio, spinning while dancing with the little girl? Thats a wild guess.

This person fancied themselves an occupation counselor for the entertainment industry.

Clemenza, telling Paulie he could be a dance judge?

Pentangelli, telling the bnd what to play at Anthony's party?

Tom, telling Woltz about his start graduating to heroin and how he could clear up his labor troubles?

Geary, introducing the Sierra Boys Choir?

Tattaglia, running his nightclub?

No, it's not Tessio either. (Someone taped over a small part of the beginning of my GF1 tape, so I don't remember what Tessio's dancing looked like. If he was he spinning or twirling, I forgot all about it.)

Well if plawrence is on line he probably doesn't need this new hint, but I'll tell you that the spinning doesn't have anything to do with dancing.

No, but that's a good guess. I thought some people would take the "spin" to mean journalism or the press, but that's not what I had in mind.

So to recap, it does not have to do with dancing, journalism, or GF3.

I'll post another hint if no one can get it on the next guess.

I'm going to be a little devil and keep you in suspense by giving you another hint first [Linked Image]. (Yes, I'm bad today grin .)

When people say "Let's go for a spin," what are they referring to?
... and this person didn't just take himself for a spin, but two others as well.
... and it was in GF1.

Did that make it any easier?

Mignon, it is one of those. But guess which one I had in mind? wink

The word "spin" is significant here. You could call him a real "spin" doctor also denotes that something is literally spinning.

With that clue, Mignon, can you tell me which of your two guesses is the right answer? cool
