The three you listed are the only films in which he was listed in the credits. I voted for "East of Eden". He had pure animal energy in that. One of the best movies I've ever seen!

should watch them really.. Absolutely should!! "Giant" is really a Liz Taylor/Rock Hudson flick (although Dean was wonderful in it).... "Rebel Without a Cause", although dealing with a theme that is timeless, is somewhat too dated for me. "East of Eden" is the perfect vehicle for Dean's strong sensitivity.

While your memory served its purpose in remembering the only three films James Dean starred in, you could have always looked up IMDb, if you weren't sure, De Niro. I haven't seen a James Dean film.

Such a tough choice. For me it is between Rebel & Eden (although Giant was very good too). I went with East Of Eden, and yet even though it's dated as SC said, Rebel is still one of my favorites too. (Natalie Wood and a very very young Dennis Hopper) I don't know of anyone past or present who could play the tortured soul with such intensity as Dean. He has an appealing and mysterious aura about him that makes him appealing and still adored today. With his tragic death at such a very young age, I think that is due in part to the fact that we really never got to know him. TIS Btw, I just love that Dean poster from Rebel (I think). He's wearing a red jacket if I recall and has a cigaret in his hand. He always seemed so serious in all his photos. Now that I think about it, I don't think there are many photos were he's actually smiling. Capo, I am really surprised you haven't seen any of his films. Be sure to add them to your list of "must sees" and let us know your review.

What qualifies as "other"? That shitty mini-series he did on the apostles? Because that gets my vote.
Anyways, Dean is one of my favorite actors of all time... And nothing can beat Rebel. It's in my top ten movies of all time, without question.

If I'm not mistaken, Dean did a couple tv appearances, one on "Hallmark" or something????? SC might remember. Ironically he did a tv ad shortly before his death in an automobile accident about driving safety as I recall. TIS

Ok heres one.Whos was better
Young Dean/Young Brando
I would have love to see them in there prime.. Thanks to film you can ALWAYS see them in their prime. Tough question, and I can't answer it. Brando and Dean and a young Paul Newman and Montgomery Clift.... some great actors from that era.

I bet it was so exciting to see two great actors like Brando/Dean in action in the 50's,
They was probley the first great actors apart from (Bogart/Cagney Not at all.... there were tons of great actors around in the '30's-'50's. Spencer Tracy, Gary Cooper, James Stewart and Henry Fonda are just a FEW that come to mind now.

I've always been a fan of tyrannical dictators. They're real tough. I look up to them. And that's not just because I'm usually bound, gagged, and chained to a log in a malarial swamp.
