Well, the Yankees recently completed trades for Sheffield, who has been acting like a big spoiled baby. Although he was a great hitter for the team, he was out almost the whole season with a wrist injury/surgery. He's become a bit of an unknown, so I wish him well. We got three pitching prospects in return.

We also traded Wright, one of our starting pitchers to Baltimore for a reliever. Even though Wright had some decent starts, he rarely lasted for more than 5 innings, so I wish him well, too.

Waiting impatiently for 11/21, when they announce the AL MVP award.

Oh DB, that was too funny.

But yeah, I've been so disappointed with Sasha this season. It was looking like he was going to do so well, upward spiral, all that stuff. But now it's just like, "Who is that? Someone get that guy off the court!" I hope he gets his game back, and fast.

I bet it was the haircut.

Several soccer fans at school were excited, but I'd started a bit of a baseball/soccer war a while back, so I can't quite bring myself to watch the sport. I haven't even watched the Rockets! Pathetic, I know. But it's just not baseball.

SB, good riddance, right? The offseason has helped me develop a more "harsh" attitude - if they're slacking or whining, why waste time on them? Of course, it's a whole different story come spring when I see their sweet, angelic faces again....

Good riddance is right, Gi. Some of these guys can be such big babies. Poor, little millionaires.

I know, they're such brats sometimes.

The ones who crack me up the most are the ones who have come from some village in a Central American country, who have grown up with nothing, who have learned to play ball in like a random old military airfield or something, and then have come here and make millions of dollars and suddenly it's not enough.

Well, Derek and I have to be discreet because of Mr. Babe, so....

Heck with this!! When are they going to name him ALMVP??

Edited to add: Btw, DS, I heard that the Cubs signed Soriano to a HUGE contract. I so wanted to see him back on the Yankees.

Yeah, the Scrubs picked up Mr. Soriano for $136 million (8-year contract). He'll bat leadoff and play one of the outfield spots (they're not sure which one yet).

$136 million?? The Cubs better hope he really isn't 35 years old!

Well, glad that you got to spend time with her. That must've been nice.

My mother made her famous braciole with pigskin for dinner tonight. OMG!! I kept eating, and eating, grateful that I didn't have a cholesterol test in the morning!!

What is braciole?? Oh, Miggie!! You buy a nice flat piece of beef and then make a stuffing out of bread crumbs, herbs and egg. Then you roll it up, brown it and put it in tomato sauce to cook. Instead of using beef, my mother made it with pigskin. I haven't had it in about 15 years, because we know it's so bad for us, so I think I ate 15 years worth last night.

Top of the page, Gi!! Actually, I think that Morneau is more surprised than anyone!

Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving to the Ladies (and any cootie-carrying boys who are lurking). My niece once went through a vegetarian phase and I was at a loss what to serve her for Thanksgiving. She reassured me that she ate turkey because "anything stupid enough to drown in the rain deserves to be killed and eaten".

SB,

Well all that cooking you will be doing will be so worth it to me. Just think you can teach me how to cook Italian.

I would also like to say Happy Thanksgiving to all the ladies and to the guys who lurk around. I will be cooking friday instead of Thursday.

Looks like Gina's getting a Woody to match her Willy...!

Astros sign Carlos Lee to 6-year deal

November 24, 2006

HOUSTON (AP) -- The Houston Astros, the NL's worst hitting team, signed outfielder Carlos Lee and right-hander Woody Williams on Friday, bolstering its offense and a pitching staff that could be without Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte....

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I was so sad to see our Ladies Thread so far down here in the basement. I felt compelled to bump it up.

I read that the Yankees have locked up Mike Mussina for two more years. Well, that gives us two starters.

The Yanks also just won the rights to sign another Japanese pitcher. They bid $26+ million.

That makes three.

If only I could catch (and throw and hit, too)!

I believe his name is Igawa, DS. But he's a bargain considering the $51.1 million that the Red Sox paid to speak the pitcher from the Seibu Lions.

Congrats, Mig!! Although I am not a football fan, Mr. Babe does follow the Giants, and they've had two heart-breaking losses. I've tried watching with him, but end up doing something else after a few minutes, because the game just does NOT hold my interest.
