Thanks Gina!! That was great!!! It seemed like it was the entire interview no??? One of the things that just appeals to me about Sly is his personality. It seems so nice and "real"! Thanks for finding the link! ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/wink.gif) TIS

I believe that at the end of this last film the elderly Don Balboa dies alone on his estate in Sicily while sparring with an orange. Or, so I've heard. ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/whistling.gif) Signor V.

30 yrs after he began his career he is climbing back into the ring? ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/confused.gif) I think he started his career in the heavyweight division. I wonder how he would do against one of the Klitschko brothers? I realize George Foreman made this kind of comeback but he weighs about 2 tons. Rocky was having some serious brain problems in part V. Every punch to the head would cause flashbacks and some sort of serious trauma to the brain. Yet, he went on and fought Tommy Gunn(aka Tommy 'the Duke' Morrison) in the streets. Now here the old man is again!!! It's amazing the advances made in nuerosurgery these days. They should make a 'robo-boxer' after this last opponent tears his legs off and makes him pee through a straw.

Well, I finally saw it Christmas Eve. ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smile.gif) Even though it was sad to see an aged Rocky,(we hate to see our heros get old, but that's life) I like that the movie emphasized his age and didn't try to make it seem like he was an equivelent to his young opponent. I too loved that they portrayed Rocky as he was (more or less) in the first Rocky (not real bright, but rather just simple, kind hearted and down to earth.) Don't know if it's because I am not any kind of sports fan, but I also liked that the delved more into Rocky's personal life. The opening scene with him at the cemetary was sad, and throughout the movie you just can't help but feel sorry for him (his relationship with his son). ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/frown.gif) All this being said, the first Rocky will always be the best Rocky, but like DT says, if you're a Rocky fan you'll like it, and I did. However, I concede that now that Rocky got rid of "the stuff in the basement", this should be the final installment. It ended appropriately and there is really nowhere else to go. I've also come to the conclusion that it's the "Character" of Rocky that I find so likeable and I guess the "underdog" suceeding is always appealing to me. ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smile.gif) I still love the Rocky Theme (Gonna Fly) You just can't help but feel energized. ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smile.gif) TIS

As a postscript to my earlier post, I think the aging Don Balboa's neurological problems first manifested themselves when he found he could not distinguish his wife from his sister Connie. Yo! ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/tongue.gif) And BTW, for those who are interested, TCM is showing the original Rocky tonight (Tuesday) at 8:00PM ET. Still the best in the series as far as I'm concerned (though I haven't yet seen Rocky Balboa). Signor V.

Thanks for the heads up SV! ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/smile.gif) I checked and it's showing at 5:00 here. That's perfect. I'm so burned out today from excessive cooking, baking, not to mention eating. Along with the fact that it's been quite a while since I've seen the first Rocky, I'm in the mood to kick back and enjoy it again. Yo!! ![](/threads/images/graemlins/classic/laugh.gif) TIS
