You might have already read the Robert Evans book "The Kid Stays in The Picture." If not, it might give you Evans' one-sided view of how the deal came together.

I read it when it was first released, over ten years ago, and I don't recall if or how much he devotes to the novel going from printed page to option to deal-making to "green light" production.
