I watch it, although it is very sad to see him die. He was one of my favourite characters. Would have liked to see him longer.

He was that kind of guy... A temper like you wouldn't believe, but a heart a hundred times bigger. Don Cardi From what Sonny's wife was saying at Connie's wedding, his heart wasn't the only, oh, never mind.

I watch it. I always thought it was some kind of homage to the final scene of Bonnie and Clyde. Yes, that's exactly what FFC had in mind for that scene. Brutal as it was (and arguably, gratuitiously brutal), it reinforced an important message of the Trilogy: Live by the sword, die by the sword.

But all joking aside, no matter how many times I watch the Godfather, when it gets to the scene where Sonny is entering the tollbooth, a part of me always hopes that he'll back out of the tollbooth and get away, even though I obviously know that he doesn't.
Kinda' like every time I watch Part II, I think maybe Michael is really going to forgive Fredo at the end. Kinda like when I watch part III and pretend it was all a dream

Well, I gotta admit, when it's on AMC, I usually leave it on. It has it's moments. You're right, it's not a bad movie. That's what bothers me about it most, it could've been great. I'm not like alot of people that blame FFC, Sofia, etc... I blame Paramount. They waited 16 years for mediocrity, if they gave FFC another 6 months to tweak it a bit, it could have been great. Once they fell behind schedule, they put way too much pressure on him.
