I watched Carlito's way last night (again) and I was wondering , why did the gang in the pool bar kill Carlito's little cousin?

also Carlito had been told Petchanga was spying on him for Benny Blanco then why did he tell Petchanga to go and pick up Gale when he knows he cant be trusted?

Great movie, it's not exactly an indie film, either. It was a fairly big release for MGM in the summer of 84' that just didn't do any box office. It has become a bit of a cult classic on video, though. I love it.

Rourke didn't get respect for years because he was anti-Hollywood before it became fashionable.
Sean Penn and Johnny Depp, both list Rourke as a huge influence, and kind of went the anti-Hollywood route a bit, themselves.
They, on the other hand, are both considered geniuses.
They are, I'm not arguing that, it's just that you're right, Mickey Rourke will never get his due.

Well, Mickey Rourke's problem was that he was the next Brando. That's not just in terms of charisma, but also in picking shitty scripts, which unsurprisingly tanked.

But its when fans of his like Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez started putting him in their works is when Rourke actually became sane enough for Hollywood to work with again. Besides, Rourke stealing the show in SIN CITY sort of helped him marketable again.

As a fan of alot of his 80s gems(POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE, the underrated-like-insane-mother-fuckin YEAR OF THE DRAGON, and the supernatural ANGEL HEART), I felt great for the guy when he suddenly became a headlining name on the poster and ad campaign for Tony Scott's DOMINO.

If you wanna know why Penn/Depp succeeded when Rourke was in hell for years, I'll tell it...since I've written enough on this post alone.

P.S. - Pizzaboy, you ever see rourke's DESPERATE HOURS where he teamed up with DRAGON's director Cimino?

Boy, if you look at the two of them in THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE, they're both handsome young guys, no ? If you look at a then and now pic of the both of them, you can see what drugs did to Roberts and booze and fighting did to Rourke.
