yes, it most certainly did, would tony montana want him to look like a pimp? or a rapper? no! hes a tough guy, three words MONEY, POWER, RESPECT? well im pretty sure rappers dont have power, or respect, i mean look at biggie smallz or tupac, they are dead...tony montana wouldn't end up like that, and im pretty sure he wouldn't like rap... What about P diddy, hes got money, power and respect in the music and other industries and hes a rapper.

Really!?!?!........them are some very strong and bias words, so in your opinion I made my fortune selling drugs and committing crimes, tsk, tsk.......I love the Scarface movie as well, i've never compared myself to or tried to be like Tony Montana, I can say I also speak for many Hip Hop Artists who didn't commit crimes or sell drugs to be successful when I say......."i believe this drug business will deystroy us..........."

It's because our "street legends" are guys that are like Tony Montana, such as Nicky Barnes, Carter Brothers, Freeway Ross, Frank Lucas...they made their money from drug money coming form nothing and being ruthless to get to the stop...that why "Scarface" resonates with them. No question, some rappers haven't lived that life, but they take artistic license creating a false aura ....some rappers have actually lived the life...and no Scarface isn't ruined...let me put this analogy :
Made guys were quoting from "The Godfather" verbatim after it came out and love it, same with "Scarface" with street gangsters...if anything, Scarface is a really iconic film within the hip hop community....

Why youse being so nosy?

The funny thing is hispanic guys, especially Colombians, don't like blacks even though the country has a sizeable black population. Makes me laugh everytime I see a "g" take up the name Escobar.

I know lots of black people who felt the same way about English people or other whites singing the blues or Bo Derek wearing braids. Ultimately once art is out there it belongs to anyone who has interest in it. One's enjoyment of a movie should not be diminished by the fact that other people enjoy it. People have always mixed ,matched and adapted art and culture to their own needs and interests. It's not taking money out of anyone's pocket here if Scarface is popular with a variety of people.
"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives." Winter is Coming
Now this is the Law of the Jungleāas old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

yes but not over drug dealing... Many, not all of these rappers originally made their money dealing drugs. That is how many of them made the quick money and were able to become overnight producers of their own songs and music. Not sure if petty drug dealing in thier earlier lives really helped them become successful multi-millionaire rap artists.

Rappers are not very well-read or cultured individuals. Colombians, despite having a large afro population, do not like African-Americans generally. So when an aa male uses the name Escobar, scarface, and embraces the latin-america cocaine culture, it makes him look very dumb. erm...are you serious?!
