Poppers are what gay drug users take, because it relaxes the anal muscles.
Not to generalise or anything, but that's the common notion. Specifically, the chemicals referred to as "poppers" (years ago) were primarily amyl nitrate and butyl nitrate (at least here in the US). They were usually sold in ampule form (like smelling salts), though sometimes it was sold in liquid form in small bottles. One was supposed to break ("pop") them and inhale them, either during sex or - especially - during orgasm as they were supposed to intensify the moment. What they did was cause a "rush" to your system (particularly the heart) that could be incredibly dangerous and even fatal. I remember two "brand names" that were being sold in the 1970s were Rush and Locka Room (sp?). I think those were butyl nitrate. At some point it became illegal to sell amyl nitrate unless it was prescribed by a doctor, IIRC. It wasn't my thing. I only caught a whiff of the stuff one time around thirty years ago. The smell was overpowering and made me want to puke. Yuk.   Signor V.

That's what "Rush" was?? (Well, at least the 80's version) Tried that in gym class once pretending to play soccer (I wasn't much of an athlete  ) When I asked what it was, I was told "jet fuel" -- for some reason I thought that was an acceptable answer...

Oh, I know Rush Limbaugh... I used to listen to AM Talk Radio (it was interesting, but did help me fall asleep at night ) ...and I'd wake up to it. Usually fell asleep to Sally Jesse Rapheal and awoke to Dr Joy Browne, but one day Joy was gone, and it was Rush's very first radio show out of WABC. So I ended up listening to him quite a bit in the beginning. Was entertaining to say the least... I wasn't a "dittohead" but did record his first TV shows -- except, the very first one didn't record from the VCR. So, I have episodes 2-12 (or whatever)... and 'til this day am pissed that I missed the very first one on TV! (lame-ass show, btw!) Can't sell that shit on ebay without #1!!!

Yeah, Rush is the beez-neez. They're my second favorite band of the 70s, behind Floyd, and it's safe to say they were the best band of the foul thing we called the 80s...
I've been watching That 70s Show season by season on DVD lately (got to cure boredom some how), and I think the hardest I've laughed at that show was somewhere in the third season, where the guys all go to Canada to get beer, and get stopped at the border by the mounties.
Mountie: So what's your business in Canada?

So I just got off the phone with Sprint. They sent us a bill for 934 text messages. YEAH RIGHT. I may receive a lot of messages, but I rarely respond. (Because I know I have a limit of 300, and I don't even want to come CLOSE to exeeding it) So I called them, apparently they charge you for SENDING and RECEIVING text messages. RECEIVING. First I had a conversation with a computer, which really started to piss me off. It was a very condescending computer. Then, I spoke with a hispanic-speaking woman, who wouldn't let me access the account because I didn't know my mom's social security number. So I told her to connect me with her supervisor or the head of Sprint, her choice. So. Apparently, when you send a text message, they charge you for sending it. AND the charge the person RECEIVING it, for the SAME MESSAGE. I'm pretty sure that's called double-dipping, which is what I told the supervisor. All she kept saying was "Ma'am, I can't do anything about it, You've been correctly billed" yada yada yada. I can't believe thats how the system works.
